The call!
“The dreams that have turned into ruins, weren’t the dreams to begin with.”
•X A V I E R•
There she was, the love of my life, my wife. She looked simply so beautiful. I couldn't take my eyes off of her as she walked in wearing the green dress.
Amazement was so obvious in her honey browns, the moment my eyes landed her hand intertwined with Aiden, my jaw clenched. I balled my empty hands in fists to prevent myself from ripping his hands off her but when she slipped away from his hold, my fists loosened.
Sitting on the stool, I saw her confused features while interacting with Katherine. Pouring myself a glass of whiskey, I sipped on it while just admiring her, my Rose. Even if she doesn't remember anything about her past, she still had the very name I used.
For the last five years, I haven't seen her, not even a single glance at her photo that had been placed upside down on my desk.
I felt someone's hard gaze and I found Aiden glaring at me. Following his gaze when Rose's eyes found mine, it felt like time had stopped itself. To this day, her eyes always reflect warmth looking at me. I know I made the biggest mistake of my life by letting her go that day, but I wasn't going to let that happen again. No matter how long it takes, I will get my Rose back.
Without wasting another second, I approached her. Soon Alex came running towards her, and they had their moment.
Sometimes I wonder how deep my son could think, he became a lot more mature according to his age in these five years. While Evelyn was busy talking to Katherine as Mason too joined their conversation, I made Alexander eat his dinner.
Soon, my chain of thoughts was cut off by the arrival of Ethan. Yes, Ethan Forbes, who brainwashed Evelyn ten years back. Damn it's been ten fucking years!
Amidst everything, I forgave Ethan, he genuinely begged for it I must say. And if Rose was at my position, she would have done the same.
Well, I called him in here to initiate Rose's memories and he had been an important person in her life. The person she truly hated was Ethan.
Smirking, I left my seat. Time to give that grumpy head of Ethan a shock.
When we approached Rose, her back was turned towards her as Ethan was busy checking out his surroundings rather looking at the person he was here to meet.
After she turned, it took a few moments for her features to change from relieved to tensed. The most powerful emotion in her eyes was hatred- mixed with confusion.
Concealing her expressions, "Hello." She smiled tightly at the messy guy beside me who was busy gawking at her, like he was seeing a person who was back from the dead.
Well, it indeed was true, but she isn't actually dead.
"Evelyn." Ethan whispered in disbelief.
She visibly sighed and tugged on her pendant, which she always did when she generally got nervous or confused. "I'm sorry, it's Rose not Evelyn." She said in a bit frustrated now and rubbed her temple.
"Hey, calm down." I heard Aiden whispering by her side as his hand was wrapped around her shoulder. "Breathe in and out slowly." He whispered continuously while guiding her towards the couch.
I stood there looking at Aiden's hand over her with a tight jaw.
How dare he touch my girl?!
My breathing was turning a bit ragged seeing her in this situation. I didn't know triggering her memories would result in something like this, otherwise I wouldn't have tried it in the first place. But didn't looking at us trigger her memories?
A few moments later, Aiden said, "She's fine now." As everyone distanced themselves away from her except us, her family along with Aiden.
"If you want you can leave." I said as she looked up at me.
Damnit!
Every time when she looked at me with those doe eyes, I couldn't find myself reverting my gaze from her.
"No Mr. Knight, I'm fine." She said, smiling a bit to which I nodded.
"As you wish, but you aren't getting up from here." I tried to put a smile on my face, but I couldn't.
Evelyn looked at me like she was thinking something, but nodded anyway and I left the place to ease myself up. I know she had many questions in her head, but looking at her situation I couldn't risk anything.
What if it impacts her health? No, I can't risk it.
After some time, the moment I saw Aiden moving away from her to attend a call. I approached her. She had a glass of orange juice in her hand, before I could say anything. She kept the glass in the coffee table and started looking for something in her clutch. A frown made its way on her forehead when she read the caller's ID.
"Why is she calling me?" She mumbled under her breath, but I caught it anyway.
Sliding the answer button, Evelyn pulled it against her ear, "Yes, Linda?" She asked.
Whatever the person said on the other end was able to shake Evelyn as her face paled and her grip loosened from her phone as her feet backed away on their own.
I was about to catch her when Aiden steadied her, "What's wrong?" He asked with a panicked look of his own.
Never in my dreams I thought of the answer she gave him; it shook my entire existence the second those words left her lips:
"M-My kids! They are in hospital!"
I just stared with wide open eyes and cannot shut, like the whole world was breaking and crumbling apart around me…I didn't even shake...just here I was in total paralysis without realizing what will happen after this.
