Wishing that Sunday didn't happen because unfortunately, I had to face Xavier today at work. It is Monday and I planned to avoid him like plague. I’m not going to indulge myself in his business until he apologized for his behavior the other night. If he even remembered, I thought.
I arrived at work at an earlier time, so I started to sort out all the files that needed to be signed and reviewed by Xavier.
Engrossed in work, I did not even notice him entering the office. He did not usually bother addressing my presence, so today was no different.
After a while, my phone started ringing. Looking up from what I was doing, answered the unknown number. Before I could even greet the person on the other end, I heard, "In my office, along with all the important files." And then he cut the call.
Way too quick, Mr. Knight.
Sighing, I stood up and adjusted my black pencil skirt. Closing my eyes tightly, I tried to erase every strange feeling I had in the pit of my stomach as I walked up to his door with his important files, mustering up all the courage I had.
Knocking on his door, I heard, "Enter."
What was with his one word replies all the time? It was then the entire hysterical feeling I had plummeted, and I clenched up my fists in aggression. After all of the disrespect he threw at me the other night, I am still trying to understand him.
Unlocking the door, I placed the files on his desk with a loud thud. He was nowhere to be seen. Thank God, at least he could stay wherever he is. Cause God only knows how I would react after facing him.
I was about to exit his office when the hard clumps of shoes caught my attention.
"I have been working on those files for months and this is how you place it? Like you don't care about the effort I put into them?!" Listening to his voice, I knew he was annoyed, I was ready but yet it gave me goosebumps.
"It was NOT intentional, I'm sorry, Mr. Knight." I replied.
A colorful variety of curse words flew out of his mouth, and I decided to exit the office. Placing my hand on the doorknob, determined to get out from here when a powerful pair of arms banged on either side of my face, shutting the door with a loud thud. My eyes widened as fear crept into the back of my mind.
Letting out a small gasp, I felt his hot breath caressing my neck. My heart started beating erratically and I could feel my stomach doing unusual flips.
Clearing his throat, he interrupted my thoughts. "You know the consequences of lying to me, don't you?" I flinched at his condescending tone.
"I’m not lying, you might keep your ego in check, Mr. Knight." The sarcastic words slipped out of my mouth before I could process what I'd said.
He scoffed.
I gasped when he roughly placed his hands on either of my arms and quickly flipped me over so that he could see my face. I just couldn't believe how he could be so handsome. My heart began to beat nervously as his forest greens bored into my brown orbs. His hair was completely messed up, giving him that sexy look that he already possessed.
Guess who was hungover...
Even beneath that black shirt of his, I could feel his tight muscles rippling and his perfect biceps clearly visible. I straightened my back, determined not to meet his hard gaze.
"What did you just say?" His eyes were darkened in disgust and anger as he glared at me and asked bitterly.
"N-Nothing," I stuttered.
"Is that so? Then why the hell I heard a sarcastic comment from your mouth? Last time I checked you're in no position to disrespect me, Miss Williams." He snarled.
"I-I'm sorry, Sir. I-" I tried to apologize, but he cut me off in between.
"Don't you think, I'll be paying you enough to satisfy your needs? Want me to cut it down to nothing." He said, bitterly.
"I said, I'm sorry. You don't need to be so bitter about it." I declared and his anger flared up.
"Bitter, Me? No Miss Williams, you're mistaken. And you don't need to even work for me, if money is the reason you're here, then don't worry. I can give you in the case of charity."
"I do not need your charity, Blake. And I'm sure as hell do NOT want to hear your crap now!" I shouted, pushing my hands over his well-built muscular chest. Ignoring the deep tingling sensation, I felt in my gut.
I turned to open the door, but he caught my wrist and pinned me up on the wall. His eyes narrowed before he pressed his body onto mine. My body felt on fire with him being so close to me.
"You. Don't. Have. Any. Right. To. Call. Me. That. Do you understand?!" He roared, his aggressive gaze piercing into my brown orbs.
"W-What?" I questioned as he pressed my arms tightly and I flinched in pain.
"Are you playing dumb with me, Rose? It IS Mr. Knight for you, you're in no position to address me from my first name, let alone my middle!" He spat as he inched his face closer to mine. The intimidation rolling off of him in waves made me nauseous. I attempted to lean back and the moment he inched further.
A gentle yet frantic knock on the door diverted his attention. Taking the opportunity, prying myself away from Xavier, I darted out of his office before he glared at me.
"Mr. Knight, Mr. Walker is asking for you." The door opened, revealing Lucy, Chris' secretary.
"Okay, you may leave."
"Yes, Sir."
I heard him leaving his office from my room as a wave of sadness brewed inside my heart.
