Chapter 18 A Car Accident
Jick swallowed as he watched the president's face. "And about Bane Reed, who six years ago was hit-and-run and picked up by the police and sentenced to ten years at first and half because of good behavior."
Bert thought for a moment, then went on. "That Sophie. Has Reed looked it up?"
"Yes, the child was adopted from an orphanage by Bane Reed, and adopted right after he got out of prison, following the normal adoption process, and the child has leukemia."
A trace of regret came over Jick's face as he said this.
The little girl he was very impressed, lively love laugh, very easy to let people like, but got leukemia.
"Come on."
Jick started the car, but after a while, Jick's face was suddenly covered with confusion.
After running for a while, Bane looked back to see that the men were not following him, and then stopped, his mind blank.
What surprised her was Ward's perseverance, and when she was taken to prison that year, she stopped looking forward to the relationship.
What Ward didn't know was that while Bane was in prison, his mother had come to her and said a number of unutterable things to get her off Ward's back.
So she broke up with him.
In fact, even if Ward's mother had not said those words to her, she would have broken up with him. She knew she was no longer good enough for him, but it was a humiliating way to leave.
Bane was thinking all this when he heard the sound of an emergency brake in his ear.
Bane looked to the source of the sound. The first thing she saw was that the Maybach had hit a ledge and rolled 90 degrees.
On this road, there was usually no traffic.
Bane hurried over there, got her cell phone and started calling for an ambulance.
There was a lot of damage to the car, but luckily the driver's door could be opened.
Bane quickly looked inside. It was badly damaged, and luckily the airbag was holding the driver up. She quickly pulled open the door and saw acquaintances.
"Secretary Longman? !"
Bane couldn't care less, so she pulled Jick out with all her might.
With blood all over his face and a blur in front of his eyes, Jick managed to keep a little consciousness. He pulled Bane by the wrist and cried weakly, "Boss... Also in... Inside."
Say that finish, passed out directly.
Bane knew what he was talking about and unconsciously looked at the overturned car.
Bert Ron's in here?
Bane steeled himself and ran to him. He quickly opened the door in the back seat and sure enough saw Bert stuck in the back seat, completely stuck and unable to move.
"Bert Ron! Bert Ron, how are you?"
There was no response.
Bane tried to pull him out, but Bert was completely stuck.
Just then, a smell of gasoline reached Baynton, and he did not like it.
When she looked under the car, she could actually see the gasoline dropping down.
The car exploded and couldn't go on anymore, but there was no way to move it, and she was unconscious, so it was almost impossible for her to do it on her own, but by the time the firemen got there, it was too late.
Bane thought he could carry out that plan with the money she had scraped from Bert.
She gritted her teeth and got into the car again, desperately trying to open the seat.
Bert felt vaguely that he was being dragged out.
And he could definitely feel that it's a woman, and he could hear a broken voice.
He tried to open his eyes, but his head hurt so badly that he could not.
Time passed slowly.
The smell of gasoline was very strong.
Bane knew that if she did not leave, she would risk her own death.
But she could not do it, she calculated, finally the card buckle to unlock.
Bane quickly pulled Bert out.
They had only gone five or six metres when the car behind them exploded.
The heat took Bane and Bert straight to their knees.
With the noise, Bane went temporarily deaf, and it took him some time to recover.
Looking at Bert, who was lying on one side, she touched her ear and said, "Your life is mine!"
There was the sound of a fire engine not far away. Bane quickly pulled Bert to Jick's side.
Bane hesitated for a second whether to stay or leave, braced himself, searched Bert's wallet again, and then whispered, "Well, you don't have to pay me back for your life. Use the money."
Putting the wallet in her bag, Bane quickly fled the place.
When Bane returned, Rosa was not in sight. With no lights on in the house, she relaxed a little and went back to her room.
The force of the explosion was so great that she fell down a bit hard. She had cuts on her legs and arms. Fortunately, she was only skinned, and she could take care of them herself.
...
On the other side.
The hospital was so jammed that it was impossible to get in. Everyone looked inside. Betsy Reed and Rosa Davis were among the crowd, a huge crowd of people.
The men knew that Bert had been in a car accident and rushed frantically to the hospital. There were also many reporters, but the strange thing was that those reporters were not chased out by the bodyguards.
Betsy Reed wanted to go in as Ron's fiancee, but the bodyguards wouldn't let her, not to mention that she was wildly crowded, her hair unkempt and she had no image at all.
The VIP room.
Bert had woken early in the morning with a white bandage around his head, all intact except for something on the head.
It was not at all critically ill, as had been rumoured.
If anything, it must have been jick, who is still in intensive care.
Bert's face was ugly, as if it were clouded by the storm, and could he not be angry that it had been calculated to this extent?
Bert also brought back Jack Longman and Tom Jonathan, who had been working behind the scenes.
Jack Longman was Jick Longman's brother. Both men had been with Bert since childhood and were loyal to him, but the difference between them was that one was in the light and the other was in the dark.
Jick was Bert's secretary, and Jack was Bert's shadow, helping him deal with some shady affairs.
Ordinarily Bert would not have called them up lightly, but this time Bert was really angry, and not just in a small way, but in a real way.
"Got it?"
