Chapter 28 I Want to Go Home
While sitting in the driver's seat, Tom, a former chatty character, now the atmosphere is not dare to breathe, because the air pressure inside the car is too low.
Only when the couple was separated did the air pressure in the car slowly rise.
"Drive."
Tom started the car, pressed the accelerator, and the sports car disappeared into the night.
Bane, on the other hand, had a mixed look because of that hug.
Ward knew there was no rush. Bane was still resisting him. She must have been frightened by the hug.
"What's the matter, Bane?
"Nothing."
"I'm sorry I scared you."
Bane did not answer.
"Bane, I hope you can give me a chance. I'm useless. I couldn't protect you six years ago, but now I can.
Bane thought he would be pleased to hear that.
But there was nothing stirring in her.
"It's all over," she said quietly.
Ward clenched the steering wheel, his heart feeling like a lump of cotton, trying to say something but not knowing how.
Six years ago it was the stress of his family, the threat of his mother's future, and the news from Bane that he was breaking up with her that really made him leave.
He doesn't find out until he gets back that Bane broke up with him because his mother said a lot of nasty things to Bane.
In the final analysis, or he is too useless, unable to protect their beloved people.
"Bane, I want to woo you again."
Bane froze for a moment. Turning his head to look out the window, he felt tired.
"Ward, I'm a mother now, and my daughter's name is Sophie."
Ward nodded. "Well, you adopted the child," he said. "I know you're kind and have always loved children."
A touch of sarcasm crossed Bane's face as he said, "Ward Jonathan, I'm not as kind as you think I am to adopt another child when I can hardly afford it myself."
Ward thought of what she was going to say.
"Ward, Sophie is my own daughter!"
"Cheep!"
The brakes screeched suddenly.
The white Bentley stopped by the side of the road.
There was no color left in Ward's face.
Bane, on the other hand, felt relieved for a moment, as if a burden had suddenly stopped weighing on him.
Indeed, he should have known earlier.
The girl he loved died six years ago.
She laughed and continued: "Sophie is a nice child, but frail, and I have to work hard to earn money to support her."
Ward's hands were clenched so tightly that the back of them was bloodied.
It was a long time before he spoke slowly.
"Bane, I'll treat it like my own daughter."
Such Ward almost made Bane think he was mentally ill.
You have a bright future ahead of you. I'm only telling you this to go back and live your life. As for Sophie, I'll look after her.
As far as Behn was concerned, Sophie had never been a burden, and she believed she could give her a home, even if she had no father.
Ward knew what she meant by this.
"Bane, it's getting late. I'll take you home."
As if he had decided something, Ward stepped on the gas and headed for the Flower City area.
When they arrived, Bane got out of the car, thanked Ward, and headed straight back.
But the Bentley outside the community is a long time before leaving.
The next day, Bane went to the hospital where Sophie was staying.
Sophie never went a day without looking forward to her mother's arrival. She was so happy to see her that she never stopped smiling.
In the last few days, Sophie's condition had improved, and a little color had been added to her small face, which was all the more pleasing.
Bane took Sophie in his arms and gave her a kiss. "Is Sophie being nice here?" he asked.
'Of course I'm good! Sophie is super good! Mother is not good, so long to see me."
"I'm sorry, sweetie, but Mom has been busy lately and neglected Sophie. How about Mom make it up to Sophie? Tell Mama what you want."
Sophie was always too sensible to let her mother buy her anything, but for once she thought about it and looked serious.
Bane was delighted. Sophie was so sweet and sensible that she loved her dearly. She wanted her daughter to be as happy as other children, and she did not want Sophie to be too sweet and sensible.
"What does Sophie want?
"I've got it."
"Sophie, then."
"Mom, I want to go home," Sophie asked, her eyes wide and expectant, a little nervous.
Hearing the words, Bane froze.
"Mom, I don't want to stay in the hospital anymore. Mom, can I go home? Can you take me home?"
Go home...
Sophie's greatest wish was this.
Sophie had always wanted a home in the orphanage, but when her mother finally came to pick her up, she was ill and had been in hospital all the time.
Bane also knew Sophie wanted a home.
If she could, she wanted to take Sophie home, too.
"Sophie is good. Mother won't take Sophie home until Sophie is well."
Sophie's face was suddenly filled with loss.
Bane's heart gave a pang.
"Mom, then I want to go to the amusement park, is that OK?"
She couldn't do the first one, but she would do the second one anyway.
"Sophie, wait here."
With that, Bane went straight to the doctor and asked the doctor. After the doctor gave a positive answer, she went back happily.
"Sophie, shall we go to the amusement park while Mum gets you dressed?"
Sophie sprang to her feet, her face beaming with delight, her eyes twinkling like two tiny light bulbs.
"Now, mother? Is that OK?"
Bane nodded with a smile. "All right, but you have to listen to your mother and tell her if you don't feel well, okay?"
Sophie nodded quickly.
Bane smiled at Sophie's delight, and the doctor said it would be good for her to go out and relax now that she was getting better.
As long as you don't play those exciting games, it's fine.
Helping Sophie to change into a straitJicket, Bane and Sophie headed for the amusement park.
It is not a holiday, so there are not many people in the amusement park, and there is no need to queue for most of the projects, which greatly lightens the burden of Bane. After all, if there are too many people, it would be bad to squeeze Sophie in.
