Chapter 31 Norton is found
Besides, he knew about the Noville Hotel.
It was in that tavern that Betsy Reed had plotted her six years before.
Betsy Reed invited her to the tavern in her friend's name, gave him a glass of drugged wine, and then sent for two hooligans to take her away.
It took a great deal of effort to get away from the two rascals, but in the end she was brutalized, and she was filled with hatred for Betsy Reed.
Bane let out a breath, subduing the fury within her. She must plan. She would send Betsy Reed into the abyss!
What she could not understand was how Bert knew about this. Did he also go to the Noville Hotel? Did you see it?
But why did he mention it now? Coercion?
Impossible. What could a man of his stature have to intimidate her into?
Bane couldn't figure it out. She had actually considered the possibility that Bert had been the man who had attacked her that night, but Bane quickly dismissed the possibility.
What woman in his position could he not have? How is it possible to casually sleep with a woman, and besides, where can ordinary people get close to him?
On top of that, he was Betsy Reed's husband, and that alone was enough to make Bane deny it all.
Bert had brought so many bodyguards that the tourists began to grumble.
"What are they doing?
"Seems to be looking for someone."
"Looking for someone? Who are they looking for? You could have a heart attack with such a big fight."
"It is said that it is a little boy. Such a big battle should be to find that little boy."
A sense of foreboding came to Bane.
Norton's father is Bert. Is Norton missing?
Look at Bert's sullen face. It must be so.
Bane felt a little anxious.
"Mom, handsome uncle is coming to us."
Bane turned his head quickly and met Bert's eye, who was striding toward the point where it was clear to him that there was no escaping it and he had to stand still.
"What are you doing here?" said Bert, as he approached.
"How do you do, handsome uncle?" Sophie called softly.
Bert's face softened when he saw Sophie.
Reacting, Bane asked, "Norton... What's the matter?"
Bert's face darkened with anger and he said, "He got rid of the bodyguards."
Bane knew now. "Is he here?"
Bert nodded, with an angry look on his face.
Bane quickly realized that buying ice cream was what the aunt had said.
Norton and Sophie are so spitting alike that it's not unusual for people to mistake him for her son. At first I thought it was a mistake, but now it seems that the aunt was right.
"Come with me."
Because of Norton, Bane was no longer interested in escaping.
Bert, though a little surprised, obeyed her, and followed her.
Bane led the man to the place where he had just bought the ice cream. Then he looked around and whispered, "Send someone around here to look."
"Oh."
Bert at once sent men to look for it, and began to look for it himself.
Sophie tugged at the hem of his coat. "Who are you looking for, Mom?" she asked curiously.
"Your older brother, he's playing hide-and-seek over here. I don't know where he's gone. We've got to find him."
Bane did not say that Norton had run away from home, because it seemed to her that something must have happened to the wise, sensible little boy.
"Ah... Mother, I know where this brother is."
Bane looked surprised. "Sophie knows?"
"Mother bow, I can tell you."
Bert turned and saw Bane crouching on the ground and Sophie whispering on his shoulder. It was an especially pleasing sight.
"Master, this bag is a young master!"
Bert turned, frowning closely, and said, "Where did you find it?"
Bane, on the other hand, looked at the shrubbery Sophie was talking about. It was a small patch of shrubbery, growing thick but unnoticeable.
"Sophie, is he really there?"
"Of course."
"Why does it feel there?"
Sophie curled her lips. "I'd be hiding there, too!" she said.
Even if it didn't make any sense, Bane went looking for it. She went into the bushes, crouched down and saw little Norton, who was hiding in the bushes, staring at her with his watery eyes.
Norton is really hiding here!
Bane looks at Norton and says quickly, "So you're hiding here. Your father is looking for you. Get out of here.
Norton doesn't come out. He looks at Sophie and purses his lips, as if in thought.
Bane quickly called Bert over.
But Bert's face was full of rage, and he bellowed angrily, "Norton Ron! Come out!"
The bush moved, but Norton was still in it.
Bert said no more, but was already thinking of having this thicket cut down. How could he hide?
"Wait," said Baynton, sensing Bert's thoughts, "can't you be gentle? You scared him, and of course he doesn't want to come out. I'll do it."
Then Bane knelt down and said softly, "Norton, will you come out? This is full of mosquitoes, bitten should be uncomfortable, come out."
Norton sniffs at this. He's itchy with mosquito bites all over his body, but he doesn't want to come out.
He was tough at first, but the voice of his beautiful aunt was so gentle, and it was possible that this was his real mother. Norton felt wronged.
Even if Norton is smart and precocious, he is only five years old. He will be wronged when he feels uncomfortable. He did not show it before, because no one gave him the opportunity to be wronged.
But now...
Bane, who seems to hear sobs, looks closer and sees that Norton's eyes are red, probably aggrieved.
I couldn't help feeling sorry for myself.
"Norton?
Sophie walked over. "Mom," she said, "I can go and persuade my little brother to let me come."
Sophie and Norton are almost as small as each other, so Sophie just gets in.
It was the first time they had ever officially met.
During his time in the hospital, Norton had visited Sophie frequently, but he had never met her openly.
