Chapter 39 saving Grace
Seeing this, Alex tried taunting him into fighting without a knife, making him think twice. Thinking that man-to-man fight was more reasonable, so he dropped his knife and started cracking his knuckles. The fight was intense, each throwing a blow for blow, after a few minutes, they were both riddled with protruding areas on their faces. Nicholas had it worse with a busted lip and a bleeding nose.
At this moment grace felt her head throbbing. She felt exhausted at all the action that was taking place but deciding to help herself, she dragged herself carefully to where he had placed the knife. Getting there, she picked the knife, and thankfully this time he had tied her hands to the front. Trying to cut her bindings, she kept blinking to clear her eyes. The fight was getting more intense and the more they fought, the more Nicholas became voracious.
Snort drifting along her nose, she tried her best to cut it off and thankfully they came off, the rest was easy to work as she separated her legs. Still keeping up with a pretense of crying she timed for a good moment to stab him. He had been throwing punches when he suddenly looked in her way. The knife firmly clenched in her hand she made effort to stab him. That had been her mistake because he backhanded her making her fall face down on the floor.
She could taste copper in her mouth. Thankfully, Alex took the opportunity to catch him off guard and kick him off her. picking the knife, he walked towards him, taking step by step. Nicholas stood from the ground, taking the stance of a panther as he faced off Alex. She shivered at the coldness Alex now displayed even though it was not towards her. as they fought, Nicholas tried his best to remove the knife from Alex’s hand but Alex would have none of that.
It was then that the door was kicked down, three armed men trailing inside. Freeze now. While Alex turned to look at the door, Nicholas took that opportunity to lunge at him, making him fall. That one mistake cost Alex the knife but thankfully, the men moved fast and within no time they had him pinned on the ground. Moving towards Grace, Alex hugged her tightly as he moved his hands up and down her, trying to find any injuries. Crying loudly, grace hanged onto Alex, totally letting go of herself.
“I thought I was going to die,” she kept repeating that before she blacked out. The ambulance took them to the hospital where they were both checked and treated for their injuries. Thankfully there had been no serious damage as the wounds were only superficial. After realizing that grace was alright, Alex finally let go of his breath.
Looking at her sleeping on the bed as the iv dripped into her hand Alex thought of how scared he had been. Throughout the time they had been together, he had not recognized how important she had become to him. Seeing her in that warehouse had literally drained all of his strength. Everything had seemed to have been happening in auto. It had seemed like a very bad movie. Then when she had been slapped, and the knife slid out of her hand, he felt as though his heart had leaped from his ribcage to his mouth.
He did not know why he had taken so long to realize but he loved her. he could not even recognize when he had started falling for her but she had. Maybe her cool demeanor towards his looks and money had worn him over. Her confident strike and the way she carried herself with strength. Damn, he was in love, and to hell with him if he took longer to express himself to her. she had a right to know that he wanted her, though he did not know how she would react to such declaration, especially after the roller coaster with her ex.
Sleeping on that bed she looked so pale and delicate, like a rose fragrant though she did have her thorns and he loved her regardless. What would happen if she ended up not accepting him, he wouldn’t give up, of course, he would recharge and rethink his strategy. How could she not know that she already had his heart and could play around with it however she wanted.
