Chapter 40 making a confession

Rousing from her deep sleep, she blinked open her eyes and then in panic started screaming touching her stomach. Taking time to calm her down, he explained that she was okay until she calmed down. Gathering her in his arms he hugged her tightly as he found himself whispering the three words almost subconsciously until she stopped sniffing and looked into his eyes and asked him what he was saying.

“Oh, grace how I love you, I have been a fool not to recognize it earlier, but since the first day we crossed paths on that stairway, you had my heart. At first, I thought it was just a passing lust that I could just satisfy but no. you went on to plague my thoughts and desires, making me wake up in the morning with a raging hard-on. But that was not all. I tried erasing you from my mind, but every time I closed my eyes, I saw your smile or heard your beautiful smooth voice. Without knowing it, you crept into my heart.

I missed you every time I did not see you, I looked forward to going to the office because then you would be at the office. I had not recognized this for what it really was but I love you. Today when I heard that you were kidnapped, I felt as though a part of me had just been cut off. Especially when I imagined that it was martin at the scene. The whole I drove, the only thing that kept ringing within me was whether I could see you fine again. Maybe I would come too late and the thought of that broke my heart to pieces.’

You don’t know how relieved I was when I realized you were still okay by the time I arrived there. When I saw your blouse unbuttoned, I had been scared still, until I realized that your skirt was intact and you did not look molested. As we moved to the ambulance, my only prayer was that you were both okay, but if it wasn’t okay, I was selfish to want you safe. Words cannot express what I feel in my heart towards you.

I’ve looked and throughout our time, we have gone out and we actually like each other as evidenced by our strong chemistry. I feel that there is no need for me to know you more before I can know that you are the woman I want. Your soft heart and strength have me hooked and I want to be forever yours.” And right there in that hospital bed, Alex went on one knee and proposed to her. so, grace will you marry me and make me the happiest man on earth.

At this, grace felt her mind go in rounds. She was not ready for a confession let alone a proposal. Looking at his sincerity, she felt her heart warm up. Thinking about how she felt towards everything, she agreed and in a mock ceremony, he moved his fingers up her engagement finger. “I’m sorry I did not think to bring a ring with me my love, but I will make sure to do it right for you.”

Alex said as he stood, his eyes watering a bit, and enveloped her in a big hug. After a while, the doctor got in and release her for the night. Alex had also been checked up and thankfully he was okay apart from the blows. His nose had bled but there was no internal injury. He had to really thank his friend for sending his men on time. Everything had finally worked out.

After grace had fainted, the ambulance did not take long before it arrived. Grace was loaded into the vehicle, the paramedics working on her. martin had already lost his life from the excessive loss of bread. On the other hand, Nicholas had a gunshot wound on his chest and he had been laid on a stretcher before being loaded into the ambulance. After all this while he was still alive. They needed to get to the bottom of things and of course, his dad had a lot to explain. Why would martin hate him as much?

When they got home, and the adrenaline levels reduced, they relaxed and just sat by each other. Though grace did make fun of Alex he looked like a cooked pumpkin. That night there was nothing sexual about it, they were glad they were okay and safe. The baby was well too and her heart had settled. After a bath together in the bathtub, they laid to rest. Grace had yet to tell of her feelings to Alex and when she remembered it, she decided to confess before she slept.

So as they lay on the bed facing each other, grace laying on his hand, while the other handheld her waist securely, she opened up. “I love you, Alex. I know this may seem sudden but it is the truth. Honestly, I did not sleep with you earlier because you scared me. I was too attracted to you I was scared. Scared that I would mindlessly fall for someone else and do myself a disservice. I would not want to experience the same things I experienced with Nicholas. Thankfully I know you are different.

Your gentlemanly ways had me hooked onto you, though I had of course promised myself never to fall in love again. Big mistake, my heart immediately went to you after the night we had sex. It did not feel like just mere sex, it felt like we made love instead and it bugged me. Then I decided to just have much of you as I could within that time. Then you went on ahead and got me a bodyguard and my heart was thrilled. I began to grow some hope that maybe you liked me beyond the bed.

When I was kidnapped Alex, I felt forlorn. I pictured the relationship we would have had and it broke my heart. Now, I’m just glad that we have an opportunity to make the most of our love journey. I love you, Alex. Thank you for coming to save me and making sure I am safe. You are the most masculine man I have ever met; I feel safe with you.”

“Aww, that’s my girl. I am glad I met you, love, you mean the whole world, and then after this baby, we are making many more.”

“About that, there is a concern of mine Alex, what happens when I give birth to a child who is not yours. Would he or she have your name?”

“Ha-ha quit worrying about that. Any child of yours is mine unless of course, you don’t want that.”

Tears welling in her eyes, she felt herself fall in deeper for Alex. She moved more to him and clung to him in a tight cuddle. Within a short while, she was asleep and Alex still cradled her. he had come to love her so intensely that it almost scared him. He had not even realized when he had fallen in so deep.
