Melinda could not help with the smile that ceased to leave her face all through Monday morning. She spent her weekend with Alexander and that was one of the best weekends she has had in a very long time. Melinda And Alex spent their time cuddling, making love, and enjoying each other's company.
Nate, Dee, Tracy, Raymond, Michelle, Amanda, and her husband were very happy when they heard the two lovebirds had settled their differences.
When it was 6 pm, Melinda left the office. She decided to go home early to prepare for Nate's party. Nate's company was celebrating its foundation day coupled with their new successful deal so close friends, family, and staff were invited.
Mel was happy for Nate. He had worked very hard and his hard work was starting to show off. At a very young age, he had achieved a lot and She couldn't be more proud of him.
Melinda was also very excited because Nate would be introducing the girl he has been hiding to everyone.
After deciding on what to wear, Mel went ahead to take a quick shower before dressing up. After applying the final touches of her makeup, Mel took a look at herself in the mirror and she felt satisfied.
A few minutes later, The doorbell rang and Mel rushed to open it. Standing right there was the love of her life, looking as handsome as ever in his tuxedo.
"Wow. You look absolutely stunning, my love." Alex said as he closed the gap between them.
Mel blushed and said. "You look so adorable, my handsome man."
Alex chuckled as he wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her.
"You ready? Alex asked and she nodded."
Soon enough they got to the party and they were both greeted by Dee and Nate who were standing at the entrance laughing over something they were talking about.
"Awwww, look at my babies. Aren't they so adorable?" Dee cooed as both Alex and Mel approached her and Nate.
"Hi, guys." Alex and Mel said at the same time.
"Hey lovebirds," Dee said which made them all chuckle.
"Congrats on your company Nate. I'm super proud of you." Mel said as she pulled Nate into a hug.
"Thanks, babes," Nate replied.
"Congrats bro," Alexander said as he pulled Nate into a hug too.
"Thanks, bro," Nate replied.
"Come on guys. Let's go inside. The program is about to start." Dee said and they all went inside.
The event went well. Food and drinks were served and everyone was enjoying themselves as they engaged in different conversations.
"Mel, what's wrong? you didn't touch your wine at all." Dee, who sat on her right-hand side said. The four best friends decided to sit together so they are the only ones at their table. A table for four. Perfect for them.
"I asked her the same question too. she said she doesn't feel like drinking wine." Alexander said.
"Uhm yeah. I don't like the way it tastes in my mouth. I guess my bud does not feel like it." Mel said which made Dee frown. Mel's behavior was really making her suspicious.
"I need to talk to you later, girl to girl talk," Dee whispered to Mel which caused her to chuckle.
"If you say so," Mel replied and before Dee could utter another word, they were interrupted by Nate's voice.
"Guys, I would love to introduce you to my new business partner. Moses Johnson. Moses, these are my best friends. Desourire, Melinda and Alexander." Nate introduced them to Moses and Moses to them.
When Alexander heard the name Moses Johnson, He prayed for it not to be the Moses Johnson he knew. Looking up, He came face to face with the last person on earth he wanted to see.
"Alexander???" Moses said his name when Alex's eyes met his. Obviously, he was very surprised to see him again.
The trio kept on looking confused between Alexander and Moses.
Alexander stared at Moses with a look of sadness and rage as his eyes turned red. Without thinking twice, Alex left the table and went outside to the garden.
As Alexander stood up, Moses ran after him shouting. "Alexander, please wait, we need to talk."
Mel, Dee, and Nate did not hesitate to follow the two of them before they created a scene and destroyed the whole party.
"Haven't you destroyed my life enough, What do you want from me? Or have you come to hand me over to the police?" Alex yelled.
"Alexander, listen, I made a mistake and I'm sorry," Moses said with regret-filled eyes.
"Sorry? For destroying my life? Sending me to prison? Or refusing to allow me to say my last goodbye to my girlfriend and unborn child" Alex said frustratedly.
"I'm sorry for thinking the worst about you Alex and I regret my actions. The only thing I could think about was revenge for my sister and I'm sorry I blamed you." Moses paused then continued.
"We found the people who attacked Marian a few weeks after you escaped from prison. They confessed that they heard she was rich, so they decided to come to rob her and not harm anyone. Marian was refusing to cooperate with them, that's why she was attacked."
"Concerning the part where she made you her next of kin, I later realized the reason behind it was that she was sick. She had brain cancer which she told no one about so she just wanted to be sure that you inherit all she had if she were to be no more. It happened that when she was attacked, One of the robbers hit her head against the kitchen counter. That didn't help her situation at all. The doctors did all they could but we lost her along with the baby." Moses said as he looked up to see Alexander who had turned his back against him.
"After all that, I Looked for you, Alex. But I couldn't find you. I did what I could by going to the police station and telling them to close the case that you are innocent. You are no longer found wanting by the law Alexander, even though you escaped, I've sorted everything. You were denied justice and no one could blame you for what you did. I know what I did was unacceptable but I hope you find a place in your heart to forgive me. Marian's property is still waiting for you. You are the heir to all that she has. When you are ready, you can get my contact from Nate and I will hand everything over to you. Please forgive me, Alexander. I'm very sorry." Moses said after which he approached Alexander and gave him a light squeeze on his left shoulders before he left.
Moses turned back and saw Mel, Dee and Nate. No doubt they all witnessed all that had happened. He gave them a nod and walked away.
Melinda, who had tears in her eyes, quickly walked up to Alexander and pulled him into a hug. Dee and Nate then decided to give them some time alone.
Melinda couldn't help but cry as she hugged Alex who was in tears also. "I'm here for you my love. I will always be here for you. We will go through this together, I promise." Mel said as she held his face in her hands while using her thumb to wipe away his tears.
Alex just nodded at her statement after which she hugged him back. They stayed like that for about half an hour before they were able to compose themselves.
"Are you sure you want us to go back in? We can go home if you like. I'm sure Nate will understand." Mel suggested.
"No, it's okay Mel. I'm fine. Alex said after which he pulled her close to him "Thanks for being by my side."
"Anything for you, my love," Mel said with a smile after which they walked back into the reception area hand in hand.
"I'm so sorry about that, Alex." Nate approached him and gave him a brotherly hug and Dee followed suit.
Alex smiled. He was blessed to have good people around him.
Nate left them for a while and came back a few minutes later with a girl by his side.
"Oh My God. Tracy???" Melinda screamed for joy as she recognized who Nate was going to be introducing to them as his girlfriend.
Nate chuckled and said, "Guys, meet my girlfriend, the woman of my life, Tracy."
Melinda did not even wait for Nate to finish his statement before she pulled Tracy into a hug. "I'm so happy for you Tracy. You two deserve each other." Mel said in awe which caused Tracy to blush as she muttered a small "Thank you."
"But wait how come I never noticed anything before now?" Mel asked no one in particular as she pulled away from the hug while Dee used that moment to hug Tracy too.
"I guess they wanted to keep it a secret," Alex said as he winked at Nate.
"Welcome to the family, Tracy," Mel said to her. She couldn't be happier that Nate was with Tracy. She had always loved Tracy as her younger sister.
"If you hurt her Nate, I will make sure I deal with you," Mel threatened which caused all of them to burst into laughter.
"Mel and I will be back, we want to go get something," Dee said, taking Melinda's hand in hers, taking her somewhere private.
"Is something wrong?" Mel asked Dee.
"I'm worried about you Mel. Do you still feel sick?" Dee asked.
"Not anymore," Melinda assured.
"I remember you refusing to drink coffee last week and today you said the wine doesn't taste well in your mouth. Remember you were throwing up for days too." Dee said.
Melinda slowly nodded, knowing her best friend was telling the truth.
"When was the last time you got your period?" Dee asked and that was when it hit Mel.
"OMG." She covered her mouth with her hands. There was a high probability she could be pregnant. No wonder she had been experiencing these symptoms.
"Don't freak out Mel, it may not even be what we are thinking. Everything will be fine. But first of all, you have to take a test to be sure about it."
Dee took her best friend's hands in hers and looked straight into her eyes. "You are not in this alone. Everything will be fine." She assured before pulling Mel into a hug. Desourire knew Melinda was terrified so she had to do her best to calm her.
