Melinda woke up the following morning feeling nauseous. She quickly jumped down from her bed and ran into the bathroom to empty the contents in her stomach.

Alexander soon appeared beside her as he moved her hair to one side and rubbed her back in the process. As soon as she was done, Alexander made her sit on the bathtub to regain her lost energy. He helped her rinse her mouth and also splashed water on her face.

"Are you sure you are okay now?" Alex asked and Mel nodded weakly. He helped her stand up after which he put some paste on her toothbrush and he watched her as she brushed her teeth. After she was done, He removed her clothes and assisted her in taking her bath. After that, he gave her a towel to dry herself while he went to bring some clean clothes for her and he helped her to wear them.

Alexander carried Melinda to the bed and covered her with the duvet. He kissed her forehead and whispered into her ear. "Take a little rest while I go make you something to eat." He said and Mel nodded before drifting back to sleep.

Soon enough Melinda was awoken by someone shaking her. She opened her eyes and Alex helped her sit up after which he fed her the pancakes he made for her.

Melinda was full to the brim as soon as Alex finished feeding her. She hoped she would be able to keep that down and not throw up again.

"Better?" Alex asked her and she nodded which made him smile and he kissed her lips.

Melinda checked the time and it was 9:08 so she decided she could still make it to work before she heads to the doctor's place.

"Stay safe, my love and if you still don't feel well, just call me and I will be here to pick you up," Alex said.

Melinda nodded after which he kissed her forehead.

"I love you, Mel," Alex said.

"I love you too," Mel replied as she gave him a quick kiss on his lips before unbuckling the seat belt and getting out of the car. She stood there for a while and waved at Alex as she watched him drive away before walking into the company.

Melinda kept herself busy with some office work until 12 when she decided it would soon be time for her appointment.

"According to what you have told me, There is a high probability that you are expecting." Regina, Melinda's doctor said.

"But while we wait for your blood test results, I will give you a test, and we shall see what it gives," Regina said and Mel nodded.

Regina left for a while and came back with a Pregnancy test which she gave Mel to go to the toilet and pee on it. Melinda glanced once more at Regina; Regina gave her a comforting squeeze and then she left for the restroom to do what she was instructed.

After she was done, Melinda came out with the test and gave it to Regina. Regina took the test from her and went back to the lab while Mel sat down and played with her hands nervously. After what seemed like years later, Regina entered the office with a big smile on her face.

"Congratulations Mel, You are six weeks pregnant. Six weeks and four days to be precise." Regina said as she handed over to Mel both the pregnancy test and the blood test results that confirmed that she was expecting.

"Melinda was overwhelmed. She was going to be a mother. She smiled at that thought as a tear rolled down her cheek. Regina awed and pulled her into a hug.

Melinda Davis was so excited about the news. It took her a lot not to call Alexander, Dee, Nate, and her parents on that same spot to tell them she was pregnant. You know, when you are pregnant, you just feel so happy and want to shout out loud to the whole universe that you are expecting a baby.

But Mel controlled herself as she wanted Alexander to be the first person to know about the baby. Regina had given her some prenatal vitamins Which Mel thinks would help reduce the morning sickness and also gave her a book along with it which consists of her food plan. Regina had also told Mel to avoid stress as much as possible.

Melinda had also insisted on doing an ultrasound and hearing the baby's heartbeat was one of the moments she will forever cherish in her life. Melinda cried. She was so overwhelmed and most importantly grateful for this beautiful gift growing inside her. Though the baby was tiny, you could still see it when you looked a little bit closer. Mel was happier because Regina told her the baby was fine and growing perfectly. She had also asked Regina to print out the sonogram. Lots of them.

Soon enough, Melinda got back to the office and occupied herself with some work.

As usual, when it was 7 pm, Alexander came to pick Mel. She told him not to bother coming into the building and that she would meet him downstairs in a minute.

As Mel walked out of her office building, a smile found its way to her face when she saw Alexander walking towards her.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and kissed her. "I missed you baby." He said.

"I missed you too, my love," Melinda replied.

"So did you go to the doctors? You are feeling okay now right?" Alex asked and Mel nodded.

He kissed her forehead and said "Come let's go home. I have a surprise for you."

"A surprise?" Mel repeated and Alexander nodded. She thought that was strange because she had a surprise for him too.

They both got into the car and soon enough, they were already in front of Mel's apartment.

Alex got down from the driver's seat and went to the other side to help Melinda out of the car.

"You ready?" Alexander asked as they stood in front of the door.

"Yes," Mel replied with a wide smile on her face.

Alexander nodded and opened the door for Mel to enter.

"Wowww." That was all Melinda could say as she stepped into her apartment. Alexander had decorated the living room so beautifully. The pathway to the dining table was adorably decorated with red roses. Alexander decided that they should have a romantic dinner.

"Come on sweetheart, let's eat before the food gets cold," Alexander said as he led her to the dining table which was romantically decorated with candles.

He pulled out a chair for Mel to sit after which he stood beside her. He rolled up his sleeves as he began to dish out the food he cooked himself.

Melinda could not believe how lucky she was to have a man like Alexander in her life. No doubt he was going to be an amazing father to their unborn child.

After dishing out the food and wine, Alexander sat opposite Mel and they dug in while making conversations in between.

To Melinda, The food was heavenly. But she still failed to drink the wine so she opted for orange juice instead.

"Thank you very much, Alex. You just made my evening better," Melinda said referring to the whole decorations and food.

"You are welcome but that's not all," Alexander said shyly.

"There's still more?" Mel asked, surprised, with a smile plastered on her face.

"Yes, my love," Alexander said as he took her hands and helped her up from the chair after which he guided her to her bedroom.

Melinda did not fail to notice the petals and all other decorations on the floor that led to her room.

"Go ahead, open it." Alexander encouraged as they both stood in front of Mel's bedroom.

Mel exhaled after which she placed her hand on the knob and opened the door. Alex had decorated her room and there were roses on the floor that read "Will you marry me?"

Tears of joy escaped from her eyes as she covered her mouth with her hands. She couldn't believe this was happening.

She turned back to hug Alexander but the lover boy was already on one knee with an already opened wine-colored box in his hand which had a diamond ring inside. It wasn't the most expensive one but she loved it already.

"When I thought there was nothing more for me on earth to live for, You came and countered that assumption. My life was nothing but grey and when you entered it, you added colors and brought happiness to my life. I want nothing more than to spend the rest of my life with you. I want you to be the first person I see when I wake up in the morning and the last person I see when I go to bed and most importantly I want you to be the mother of our future children. Melinda Viola Davis, will you marry me?" Alexander asked.

"Yes, I will. I will marry you, my love." Melinda replied as happy tears rolled down her cheeks.

Alexander smiled as he slipped the ring into her finger.

He got up and pulled her into a hug. "Thanks for making me the happiest man on earth."

"You're welcome. I have a surprise for you too." Melinda said as she pulled away from the hug and wiped the tears away from her face.

"You do?" Alexander asked surprised and Melinda nodded with a smile.

"Come with me," She took Alexander's hand into hers and they walked out of her bedroom back into the living room.

As they got to the living room, Melinda freed her hands from Alex and approached the couch where she had dumped her bag. She opened her bag and brought out an already wrapped present.

She handed it to Alexander.

"Open it." She encouraged.

Alexander was nervous but followed her instructions anyway. As he unwrapped the gift, he came in contact with a medium-size box. He glanced at Mel and she gave him a go-ahead look. Alexander opened the box and saw a used pregnancy test that read positive and beside it was a white baby shirt that had the design "Daddy's little one."

"Are you for real?." Alex asked Mel who was smiling really hard.

"We are going to be parents?" Alexander said with tear-filled eyes.

Melinda nodded with a smile on her face, unconsciously biting her lower lip.

He walked closer to her and pulled her into a hug. "Thank you, my love. Thanks for doubling my joy. I love you, Mel." Alex said after which he kissed Mel's forehead and she chuckled.

Alexander pulled away from the hug and went on his knees. He pulled Mel's shirt up and she helped him hold it up so he could get a clearer view of her belly.

Alexander kissed her still flat belly and said "Hey, little one. It's me, your daddy. Thanks for coming into our lives and making us the happiest parents to be. I can't wait for you to arrive but in the meantime, you will be in mommy's tummy, try to be a good girl or a good boy and be nice to mommy okay.? I love you already." Alex said, then kissed Mel's belly once more.

He got up and wrapped his arms around Melinda's waist. "I feel so complete. You, me, and our little one. This is what I've always dreamt of. A perfect family. Thank you for this, Mel. I love you so much." Alexander said, then kissed her.
