Alexander and Melinda had arrived in the city of Chicago very early this morning. He wanted to introduce Melinda and his unborn child to his mother and to probably say his last goodbye to Marian. Then he will head over to Moses's place concerning what Marian left behind in his name.

Melinda made sure they booked a room in one of the finest hotels in the city of Naperville before they left for Chicago so things would be much easier when they got there.

When they arrived in the morning, Alexander made sure Melinda rested for a few hours after which they ordered some food to eat before he took her for a tour around the city of Chicago.

As soon as Alexander became aware of Mel's pregnancy, He became more protective of her. He made sure she ate, rested, and took naps at the right time. And he had even started reading more books about pregnancy.

When it was 6 in the evening, they decided to drive over to the cemetery. Luckily for them, According to how Moses described it, the place Marian was buried was not far from where they buried his mother so they decided to kill two birds with one stone.

They both entered the Cemetery and walked for a while until they came across Alexander's mother's grave.

"Go on, I will wait for you here," Melinda said as she handed him the flowers they bought on their way. She decided to stay beside the tree which was a few feet away from Alex's mom's grave. She felt like he might want to talk to his mother alone so she decided to give him space.

Alexander nodded at Mel after which he walked towards his mom's grave. When he got there, he crouched down and said,

"Mom, it's me, Alexander. I miss you so much, mom. I miss your smile, your laugh, the way you scold me and draw my ears when I fail to listen to you." Alexander said with unshed tears in his eyes.

"Sometimes I wish you were here with me but I know you are watching me from above. I love you and you will forever remain in my heart. I hope you are very happy up there too." Alexander said as a tear slipped down his face which he wiped away very quickly.

"Mom, I've moved to Philadelphia. A place where I would be starting a new life with my family. After I lost Marian, I thought I would never fall in love again but I'm grateful life gave me another chance. Her name is Melinda, mom. She is a very beautiful woman with a heart of gold and guess what, mom? She's expecting my child. You are going to be a grandmother. I wish you were here to meet her. You would have loved her instantly." Alexander said in tears as a sad smile played around his lips.

He signaled to Mel to come over and she did as he said. She bent down beside him and he intertwined his hands in hers.

"Mom, this is Melinda," Alex said as he looked at her with a smile.

"Hello, Mrs. Knight." I'm Melinda." Melinda said as she rubbed her right hand over the grave.

"Alexander talks so much about you. I appreciate you for raising a good man like him and I feel so lucky to have him as my fiance. I never got to meet you in person but from the pictures I have seen and the stories Alexander had told me, I can picture how wonderful you were. I hope you are happy wherever you are Mom because we are happy. And we are even happier because you are going to be a Grandmother. You don't have to worry Mom, I promise to take care of Alexander and the baby. I promise to make you proud of us. We miss you and you will forever remain in our hearts." Melinda said in tears as Alexander pulled her into a hug.

They stayed like that for a while after which they placed the flower on Matilda's grave and said their goodbyes.

Both Alexander and Melinda walked hand in hand until they reached Marian's grave.

Alexander bent down and ran his right hand over her name which was inscribed on the tomb and said. "Marian, I will forever be grateful to you. you stood by me when everyone turned their back against me. You even defended me and went against your family's wishes. You sacrificed a lot for me, Marian. Sometimes I wonder why good people die and the bad ones live or get to have a second chance. Marian, you were a woman with a heart of gold. you never deserved death." Alexander said as tears flowed from his eyes.

"Thank you for all you did for me, Marian. I hope you are happy wherever you are. I love you and you will forever have a special place in my heart." Alexander said in tears as Melinda rubbed his shoulders to comfort him.

Melinda placed a flower on Marian's tomb and said "Thank you for what you have done for Alexander. Thank you for being there for him. I know you loved him so much and I promise to pass the love to him. I promise to love him with all my heart and take very good care of him. We love you, Marian. Rest in peace." Melinda said.

Alexander wrapped his arms around Melinda as they both cried together. After a while, they composed themselves and bid their goodbye, promising to come to visit sometime again.

Alexander and Melinda got into the car as they headed to see Moses and Marian's lawyer in the restaurant they had agreed to meet.

"I'm happy you came, Alexander," Moses said and Alex nodded.

"Hi." Melinda greeted Moses and the man beside him whom she assumed was Marian's lawyer and they nodded to her greetings.

"Alexander pulled out a seat for Melinda after which he took a seat beside her.

"Hi, I'm Ernest." The lawyer who was in his early 30's introduced.

"This is going to be very fast so I won't take too much of your time. Only your signature is needed." Ernest said as he passed on a document to Alex.

Alex and Melinda looked at the document and went through it together. After reading, he signed the documents and handed them over to the lawyer.

"These are the original copies of everything she owned. They are now in your name." Ernest handed Alex a big brown envelope.

Alex opened it and checked it all.

"That will be all for now. In case you are not clear about anything, you can contact me and I will be happy to help." Ernest said.

"Thanks for everything. Alexander stood up to shake Ernest. The lawyer said goodbye to Melinda and Moses then left.

After Ernest left, Moses stood up to take his leave. But before that, He apologized to Alexander. "Once again Alex, I'm so sorry for all the pain I have caused you. I hope you forgive me." Alex nodded and stood up to give Moses a brotherly hug before he left.

Mel and Alex decided to have dinner in another restaurant before they head back to the hotel.
