Lucas POV
I rested my head on her shoulder as soft snores came from her. My arms tightened slightly around her waist, my hands resting on her enlarged stomach.
This is probably one of the happiest moments I've ever had in my entire life. Waking up with a beautiful women by my side who is also pregnant with my two children.
To be honest I couldn't stop thinking about her after we met, I still remember meeting her in my club. Even though we were both intoxicated I thankfully have a great drunk memory. I was quite happy when she contacted me, even if it was to say she was pregnant, I was just glad that I had found her.
Jess stirred and turned towards me, "Good morning." she asked groggily.
"Morning, how did you sleep?" I ask giving her a kiss on the forehead
"It was great. How was yours?" she asked smiling making my heart soar.
"It was good." she was about to reply when the baby monitor went off, notifying us that Jake was awake. Thankfully he barely wakes up in the middle of the night now so we can actually get an almost goodnights sleep.
"I got him." I say starting to get out of bed.
"Oh no it's fine, I need something to do anyways." she says getting out of bed and going into Jake's room.
She is such an amazing person, I don't know how she does it. Being able to adapt to things so quickly, I honestly was so scared and obviously unprepared when Jake came into my life. I still thought that I had another few months to prepare for all of the hardships that came with being a parent, let alone to twins.
When we went to Jess' appointment that one time, when I came back from the bathroom into the waiting room and saw her talking to Jess, and I saw her holding a carrier with a baby, I was hoping so hard that it wasn't mine.
Jess went into the doctors room and I was going to follow until Lacey saw me and approached me saying that Jake was mine, I denied it because we had used protection, but obviously I was wrong.
Now I'm happy that Jake is here, I feel like he has brought Jess and I closer together and strengthened our relationship. My phone starts to ring bringing me out of my reverie, checking the caller ID I see that it's my mom.
"Hey mom, what's up?"
"Good morning, are you guys busy this evening?"
"No, why what's up?"
"I'm calling to invite you all to dinner, Maggie says that she has some important news to tell us." she says.
"Alright, we'll be there." I say stretching so my back cracks.
"Ok, see you guys later, I'll text you when you should be here."
"Okay mom, love you."
"Love you too dear."
"Bye."
"Bye." she hangs up the phone. I've always been a momma's boy, no matter how much she gets on my nerves sometimes or how much she pushes something on me, she's always the one that I go to, especially since I never really had a father figure in my life.
"Who was that on the phone?" Jess asks walking back into the room holding Jake securely. She settles on the bed and turns her head towards me.
"My mom, she wants us over for dinner tonight. She said that Maggie has some sort of big announcement." I tell her while playing with Jakes hand.
"Are we bringing anything?"
"Why do we always have to bring something?" I ask.
"Because it's courteous to bring some sort of gift when someone invites you over to their house." she says in a duh tone.
"Well excuse me, Ms. Sassypants. No need to get so defensive." I smirk.
"Oh shut up."
"Oh shut up." I imitate her voice in one to many octaves too high.
Later on my mom texts me telling me that we need to be ready for 6. Other than that we go on with our normal routine. I do some work from home, and end up having to go out and buy some wine because Jess just won't show up to my mother's house empty handed.
After giving Jake his bottle I give him to Jess, and start to get ready as she is already dressed and ready to go. It seems that I am always the one last to get dressed.
I decide to wear a white button up shirt and some black dress pants, without a tie or a suit jacket because I can't stand tie's, yet I practically wear them for a living, and I don't feel like looking for a suit jacket so this will just have to do.
We make our way to my mom's house in record time and Jess knocks on the door holding the red wine I picked out and I grab Jake's carrier from the back seat.
I walk in the house and give my mom a kiss on the cheek while she fawns over Jake as per usual. Thankfully it seems that things have mostly gone back to normal since Mel left, John tells me that she still mopes around a little sometimes but for the most part she's ok now.
"So what's the big announcement?" I ask Maggie once we're all seated around the dining table, I notice that there's another seat at the table.
"I have a boyfriend." she says smiling widely. "He's going to be a little late though because he had to work a little late, so maybe around dessert he'll be here." Maggie smiles again.
So that explains the extra seat then.
"So what's he like?" Jess asks leaning closer to Maggie along with my mother once she sis down after putting to food out.
I blank out as they start to talk, I look at John and see he has the same sort of look on his face, I just concentrate on my food. It's not that I'm not happy for Maggie, it's that I would rather not hear about 'how hot he is.' and all of that girl stuff.
After dinner dessert is served and we start to eat while waiting patiently for Maggie's boyfriend to knock on the door.
Suddenly Maggie swears softly under her breath, "Sorry guys but her can't make it, his boss is making him stay late." she sighs disappointedly.
"It's ok Mags, next time yeah?" Jess says ever the optimistic.
"Yeah I just really wish you guys would be able to meet him."
"Sorry Mags but Jess, Jake and I had better get going now." everyone stands and clears their plates, then Jess, Jake and I head home.

Jessica POV
I don't think that I've ever been so nervous and yet so excited at the same time. Today Lucas and I are going to the OBGYN appointment to find out what the gender of the twins will be, then we're going to Lisa's house for dinner.
My phone started to vibrate in the pocket of my cardigan, checking the caller ID I realize it's my mother calling.
"Hey mom, what's up."
"Good afternoon, I was just wondering what time your flight lands today?"
"Mom I told you already, I'm spending Christmas with my boyfriend and his family this year." I already called her and explained this to her, I don't understand why she just doesn't get it.
She probably just fussing because I always come about a week from Christmas to help around the house and things of the like, since I'm not here she has to find someone else this year.
"Oh, you were actually being serious about that. Well I'll see you around New Years then, yeah." she said as a statement more than a question.
"No mom, I'm staying down here for that too." I say exasperated, I had already told her about Christmas and New Years but she just doesn't seem to listen.
"Well then when do I get to spend time with my daughter? Gosh I feel like I never see you anymore since you moved away, and you barely call I might as well only have one daughter."
"Okay momma, there's no need for you to be so dramatic." she always does this, trying to guilt me into doing things her way.
I hear Lucas come down the stairs with a babbling Jake in arms.
"What's that noise?" my mom asks. I swear she has ears like a bat, during our teen years Jasmine and I were never able to sneak out fearing she would hear.
"Hm, what noise?" I act oblivious to her hearing Jake's babbling and Lucas' footsteps over the phone.
"Oh don't you try and fool me, I hear footsteps and a man. Is your boyfriend with you now? Does he have a baby? Do you have a baby? Oh Lord Jesus Christ our saviour please tell me you didn't have a child out of wedlock." her breathing becoming faster.
"Mom calm down, yes mom my boyfriend is here and what you heard was the TV, we were watching one of the reality shows you don't like, 16 & Pregnant I think it was." I respond to her making up a lie.
"Oh, well let me talk to the man who's taking away my daughter for the holidays, depriving me." she say like she's in some sort of soap opera.
"Hey mom don't you have a bridge game to get to?" I say changing the subject from Lucas, now is certainly not the right time.
"Oh cheese and crackers I do! I have to go, goodbye dear don't forget to say your prayers." she hangs up the phone.
I sigh in relief and get up off the couch heading over to where Lucas is standing with Jake in his grasp, trying not to smile.
"What's so funny?" I ask him.
"Oh nothing, just hearing you and your mom interact is actually quite amusing." he shifts his arms so he's holding Jake in a more comfortable position.
"Trust me, if you were in my position right now you wouldn't be smiling." I state.
He just hums in response.
"Alright let's get going to the hospital to find out what I'm having."
"And Jakes checkup is a little while after that."
We put on our winter jackets and boots along with Jake in his snowsuit and head to the car, he puts Jake in his carrier in the back as I get into the passenger seat. "I haven't forgotten you know."
"Forgotten what?" he glances at me confused.
"We still have to pick out names for the babies." I say picking back up our conversation from a while ago.
"Oh lord not this again." he says exasperated.
"Yes this again! We need at least some options of some sort." I laugh at the look he gives me.
"Can't we just wait until after the appointment to start deciding names." he rebuttals.
"That would make more sense wouldn't it." I say.
"Yes, finally you see the light."
I decide to be nice, for now, and leave him be until after the OB/GYN. Once we reach the hospital, we walk straight towards the maternity ward.
I sit on one of the chairs in the waiting room with Jake in his stroller I front of me, playing with toys and looking around, as Lucas talks to the receptionist about our appointment.
Soon enough we were called back to a room and a nurse took my weight, height and blood pressure as we waited for Dr. Moore to come inside.
She walked in the room about fifteen minutes later, looking a little frazzled.
"Good afternoon Jessica, Lucas. Sorry I'm so late my car broke down on my way back here and I had to walk the rest of the way back because of the lunch rush." she said all in one breath.
"Oh it's no problem, really." Lucas smiled anther and she smiled back graciously.
"Okay, let's get this show on the road and see your babies." she got out the ultrasound machine so we could see the babies on the screen and hear their heartbeats.
"Alright it's going to be a little cold." Dr. Moore warns me before putting the gel on my stomach. Suddenly two strong heartbeats fill the room and I feel the tears well up in my eyes and Lucas grabs hold of my hand, squeezing slightly.
"So here's baby A and her is baby B." she points out the two on the screen, "Do you guys want to know the genders?" She asks turning towards us.
Jake squeals in delight as an answer for us as we nod our heads.
"Okay so baby A is a..." She searches around on the screen, moving around on my stomach before stopping at one place. "Congratulations you are having a boy." She smiles at us.
"And the second one?" Lucas asks anxiously.
"Well is seems that baby B..." she moves around more. "Doesn't want to show itself right now. If you look at the screen, you can see that baby B is much more modest and is turning in a way that I cannot tell if it's a he or a she along with crossing it's legs over the genitalia." Dr. Moore explains to us.
"Better be a girl then. Keeping her legs closed." Lucas mumbles, but still loud enough for us to hear. We both chuckle at his comment.
"Well I will print you off your pictures and you can be on your way." she says handing me a tissue to wipe my stomach off and she presses some buttons on the machine.
She leaves the room fora moment and I sit up and turn so that I am facing Lucas.
"Well you have one, well two, boys and one unknown." I say.
"What do you want the second one to be?" He asks me tilting his head slightly.
"Healthy. That's all I really want to be honest, but I would really like a girl. I'm so overpowered being the only girl you know, but nevertheless I'll be happy with whichever." I hop off the examination table as Dr. Moore walks in with the photographs in hand.
We leave the maternity ward and go over to the pediatrics ward for Jake's checkup.
Once we leave the hospital Lucas carefully drives us home, minding the snow, after a stop at Wendy's so that we can get ready to go to his mom's house for dinner. It was nice to see everyone so happy, but you could still tell the they were missing Mel not being around.
Lisa cried when we told her that she was having another grandson, and cried even harder when she saw the pictures.
All in all it was a wonderful night filled with love and happiness, and I couldn't ask for more.
