Chapter 60 The end of an era
Chapter 60 The end of an era
"Can we stay here for a while?"
I stopped and squint my eyes. I even touched my dress because of the strong wind.
"Why?"
"Let's appreciate this view together. Who knows when we will have some time to be alone again."
My forehead furrowed. He smiled and turned his back, he walked to the stone chair right near the cliff. So I followed him there. I sat beside him and looked at him confusedly. Long silence reigned between the two of us. The whistle of the wind and the sound of nature wrestled the silence of the two of us. The anxious feeling since I came here was replaced by tranquility.
"Can I ask you something?"
He breaks the silence. I turned to him. He has a hint of smile in his lips while looking at the our view in front. "How's mom as a mother?" I was surprised at what he looked at and looked at him softly. My heart pained seeing his smile. Although difficult I answered his question.
"Mom is the best person I've ever known. Not just a mother, but a wife."
He did not answer. He just nodded with the sweetest smile in his face. Even if he doesn't say I know, there's a lot inside that bothers him. And it hurts me every time I see him fighting himself, like I can't do anything to mend his broken pieces. That's why all this time I want him and Lucy to get married because from that, my mind would be at ease. I know that he'll be happy with her.
"Mom loves you. And I do too."
He sighed before looking at me. I smiled with so much longing and compassion. Because I badly wanted to make him feel that I'm here for him.
"I thought, I can not hear God. I always wanted to be up high because I feel like that way, he will hear me." I said. The wind once again swayed my hair and my dress.
"I've been on the lowest point of my life and I knew you've been too. While I cry you wept, while I'm hurt you're aching. After all of that, I just want you to know that you are my answered prayer. "
His eyes fixated in me. I smiled as my tears starting to form in my eyes.
"Thank you so much because even though mom and dad took me, they also left me with a brother who loved me w-whole-heartedly. You'd been so strong for us and so if something is giving you a hard time please let me know and let me be the one to fight. "
I saw his tears clouding his eyes as he looked at me. Can you see this mom?
"If only mom is here, she'll be the one saying this to you. But I still want to say, I'm proud of you ... brother."
The amusement on his face is visible. He chuckled as his tears flowed in his cheeks. He quickly wiped it away and immediately pulled me into a hug. I hugged him back.
"Many thanks to all."
I uttered in his shoulders. His sobbed grew louder, crying like a baby in my arms. I could feel the tightness of his hug, making sure I couldn't see his weakness now. That moment was the end for us yet the beginning of another narrative. In this small paradise of Mar De Vena is the beginning of another history.
After our time there he invited me to come home. Somehow I felt the lightness of his feeling. That was our first serious conversation so far. But in the car we went back to our natural approach to each other. I invited him to stay at the Casa, I even texted Levi that we're almost home.
As we approached the entrance to the island Lourd paused and reached into the back seat. It's a bouqet of dried flowers. He gave it to me and proceeded to drive. I looked at the flower in amazement, not only at its beauty but at the thought that he would give it to me.
"I also want to say that I'm proud to be your brother. Thank you for calling me kuya."
I didn't have the time to say anything to him because when he maneuvered the car in the entrance I saw Lucy waving her hands jumping excitedly. She's wearing a flowy tube dress holding something in her hands. Tires mess me up with weird feelings. So when the car stopped I immediately asked him.
"What's up?"
"I am so happy for you." She kissed my cheek and hugged me. She put something in my head, that's where I was limited by what was happening. I turned to Lourd who seemed to be asking and when I saw him he seemed to know as well all of this.
"You're getting married, like right now! Speed, let's put some make up."
"What?"
I barked out. What was happening did not sink in to me as I stared at the closed door of the mansion. It didn't seem strange but Lucy's confusion as she adjusted me seemed to be true.
"You can't go without anything. You're beautiful but your grand kids are gonna look at your photos someday so better put some." even Lucy.
The more he waited, the more nervous I became. All my life I didn't had any plans about wedding, as long as it is the right person for me then I'm good. But now that we're on the way I can't just help but to get nervous.
Behind that door will be my future. Nothing special, just a simple dress and a simple make up done by my best friend, in the island that I grew up, in our home for our soon to be family. Things were moving fast and if Loud hadn't just let Lucy down she wouldn't have ended. He looks even more nervous than I do. When Lucy informed, Lourd asked for my hand. I smiled and realized all the events have been going on ever since.
"I'm now sending you off."
He whispered and the door opened.
And there I saw, my life. This is beyond my wildest dreams.
To walk down the aisle with my brother and see some of our friends, the family who raised me, his parents. And to see my man standing there waiting for me.
To know how magical love is, it was really beautiful.
