12. The chapter with all Jax's nicknames
Rose
I could feel Jax O'Donnel watching our group, and it was already starting to annoy me, and it seems I wasn't the only one to notice.
" Hey, Simmons, did your freshman lose something on my girls? " Liam raised his voice, attracting the attention of Wayne, who was walking by our table and heading for his usual spot.
The young man cast a surprised look at our group, seeming confused by the situation.
" What?”
Jax frowned, surprised by Liam's reaction, but being the stupid freshman that he was, he kept a debauched smile on his face. In fact, it was easy to spot the freshmen in his own fellows; they were enjoying the situation while the seniors seemed tense about it.
" He, I saw him at the party on Saturday. I guess he is your freshman, right? " Liam continued quietly, attracting the attention of most of the people in the dining hall.
Christian crossed his arms, watching everything with a satisfied expression, while Jax seemed not to understand the situation he had gotten himself into.
" He's not looking at your girls, right, O'Donnel? " Wayne glared at the newbie.
" I don't know what this guy is talking about, Wayne," he denied.
" Maybe he's looking at you and not the girls, Van Derr Waal," Christian teased my friend.
" In that case, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but my interest lies elsewhere.” Liam sneered as the smile died on the face of the boy who had become a laughing stock among his friends.
He opened his mouth to speak, but Wayne was quicker, approaching our table.
" I'm sorry about this, Van Derr Waal. He's a freshman, he's not used to some things," he muttered.
Liam just smiled, watching the frat leader walk away, shooting an annoyed look at Jax.
We returned our attention to our food, while Theo distributed the tasks that each of us would take on in his project.
" Did he stop looking? " I asked, annoyed that I still felt like I was being watched.
" No. Jax O'Donnel is not the type to take threats, so he's likely to do something very stupid soon," Christian commented, looking more and more at ease in our midst.
If possible, Liam's smile widened even more, looking satisfied with that information.
" This is perfect.”
" Perfect? Don't take this the wrong way, but you don't seem like the fighting type, Van Derr Waal," Christian frowned, observing his newest friend.
" Fight? Not at all. It would ruin my clothes," Liam grimaced.
Christian raised both eyebrows, waiting for the other to finish his thought, while the rest of the group watched this little interaction with amusement.
" Do you think Wayne Simmons became one of the most respected names in this place by fighting? No, the truth is that he is a spoiled rich little bastard with an influential father. So everyone is afraid to mess with him," Liam explained.
" And yet you talked to him like that in the middle of everybody?”
" Mr Van Derr Waal is richer and more influential than Mr Simmons," Theo explained.
" So, in terms of being a fucking spoiled rich little bastard, Liam wins," Sky concluded, putting a nacho in her mouth amid a debauched smile.
" Exactly," Liam stated proudly.
" He doesn't know that, and I guarantee he likes to fight.” Chris remembered the angry troglodyte at the other table.
" In that case, Theo can do the honors, or you can. You don't seem to mind getting your hands dirty," Liam shrugged, sipping his glass of juice, "or maybe Rose can defend me, look at the size of those claws.”
I held up my hand, showing off my sizable fingernails painted gold. Christian unconsciously brought his hand to the back of his neck, making me smile. It didn't take long before Liam crossed his arms, staring at a point behind me with a questioning expression.
" Missing something here, newbie?”
I turned my head a little, taking a deep breath to find Jax standing behind me while some of the fledglings who were still at their table looked at us expectantly, and not only them, but several people who had seen our little scuffle earlier had their attention fixed on us at that moment.
" I just wanted to compliment your girl," Jax sneered.
I braced myself for what was coming, knowing that any possible compliment coming from that mouth would be nothing more than the worst offense.
" Your girl has the best cocksucking I've ever experienced. Really, I was in heaven yesterday," I closed my eyes, taking a deep breath upon hearing that.
So he's spreading the word that he had sex with me. Why am I not surprised?
Liam kept his expression neutral, seeming to expect some reaction from me, and I could see Christian clenching his fists on the table, but before he could react, I turned back, looking up to see Jax's victorious face that dared me to deny him.
" Ahhh thank you, I really am great, aren't I? " I raised my voice in false excitement.
Jax frowned, looking as if he hadn't expected this, but the positive reaction from his group of friends made him try to keep his confidence.
" Of course, whenever you want to…”
" It's a shame I can't say the same," I grimaced, turning my back to him and receiving a smile of pure complicity from Liam.
" What?”
" Wait, is this the guy who was so bad he almost made you take a vow of chastity? "Theo entered the conversation.
" Exactly, I still feel a little traumatized. Maybe I'll decide to start wearing the chastity ring my father gave me a few years ago.” I huffed, feeling pleased to hear some laughter around us.
Without warning, Sky slammed her hand on the table, turning to me with an amazed expression.
" Now I understand the nickname Jax thirty seconds," she smiled broadly, drawing even more laughter from our impromptu audience.
" I don't last thirty seconds," Jax growled, his face red.
I turned my face to him, making a pitiful expression.
" I know you don't, honey, I tried to help you by making the time a little longer.”
" Jax two inches," Christian let out in a feigned cough.
" Hard," Liam added.
Jax lost all his confident pose when he saw his own group of friends laughing at the situation. With an annoyed expression he approached me, trying to intimidate me.
" Listen here, Bitch…”
" Sarcozy, I'm being patient so far because this is fun, but if you touch her, we have a problem," Liam warned in a calm tone.
" I'm sure I can handle you, Van Derr Waal," he returned.
" And I'm sure I can make your life here a living hell," his smile broadened, "the choice is yours.”
It took only a few seconds before he turned his back on us, returning to his desk in silence. A few minutes later, our group stood up. As I passed the table where Jax was still sitting, I made a point of approaching him.
" I'm going to make one thing very clear to you. If you ever try to make up a story with my name again, I will make it a point to kill any chance you have of getting laid by any girl on this campus. Are we clear? " I crossed my arms, maintaining a haughty posture.
He didn't dare look at me, and I didn't press the issue, just left him behind. Christian split from the group as soon as we left the cafeteria, probably willing to sleep under one of the trees while we went to the library to start research for Theo's project.
