122 - the chapter where rose escapes
Christian
I was lying in an armchair in the common area of the dorm, fiddling with my cell phone to kill time while I waited for the girls. I couldn't deny that I was anxious, this would be the first time Rose and I would go out as a couple and make our relationship known to everyone, but still, I tried to look disinterested.
Since I was the first to be ready I was alone there, hoping my friends would show up soon while I exchanged messages with my sister.
You're telling me she took that story? Really?
You talk like it was so easy. It was hell until she decided to listen to me
Wait a second, I want all the details
Before I could respond, a video call popped up on the screen, making me snort before accepting it.
" Can you be a little less gossipy? " I teased her.
" I'm not a gossip, I'm looking out for you, right Vihn? " she retorted with a smile on her face.
"Sure, Christian, speak loudly, I can't stop what I'm doing and I want to hear it too," the man asked, making me snort once again.
" If that's the case, knowing that we're fine should be enough," I retorted, ignoring her boyfriend.
" "It's not enough, now tell me what happened before I call your mom, tell her you broke up again because you cheated on her with some little daddy's doctor," Amber threatened.
" 'That never happened, Beebee! “
" You know I don't mind playing soft to get what I want,” she hummed.
I sighed, knowing that she wouldn't give up so easily, deciding to tell her the summary of everything that happened.
" I didn't do anything, Van Derr Waal got tired of seeing the whole situation and talked to her, forced her to at least come talk to me and she heard the story. She knows Alicia well enough to know that she is capable " I shrugged.
" Wow... Impressive " she looked at me astonished.
" 'Is it so strange that she believed my story? " I frowned.
" 'No, I'm referring to the fact that you actually have friends. I never expected to see something like that one day!”
" HAHAHA very funny " I rolled my eyes.
" So you guys are okay, really?”
" Yes, we're sharing a room and…”
" You're what?" That information surprised my sister.
" I'll explain it to you later, it's a temporary issue, but now I have to go." I said goodbye as I saw my friends coming to meet me, ending the call afterwards.
I stood up, surprised to see how simple Rose looked. Not that she didn't look nice, she did, but she was wearing jeans with a pair of heelless boots, a cream sweater and a furry jacket over it, her hair was tied up in a bun and a pair of medium rings adorned her ears. Camille and Skyller were more dressed up than her, and knowing her self-centered personality, the fact that she didn't dress to be the center of attention was a bit surprising.
As soon as she approached, I leaned in for a kiss, surprised when she dodged, offering her face instead of her mouth before pulling away, turning to our friends as if nothing had happened, leaving me behind with a confused expression.
My phone vibrated in my hand, distracting my attention to a message from my sister.
You can't drop a bomb like that on me and hang up, I want to know everything
I'm going to a party, we'll talk later
I turned my attention back to the group, where Theo was cuddling with Camille, complimenting how pretty the girl looked, attracting attention from some of his classmates who seemed to have not yet gotten used to the fact that the two were a couple. And Rose and I could have been the same way, but she had already moved away from me, chatting happily with the rest of the group.
" 'Tell me that wasn't crazy in my head,” I whispered as Van Derr Waal approached.
" Maybe it's best not to jump to conclusions. Are you going together? “
I took a deep breath, drawing the group's attention.
" 'Rose, did you get Brigitte's key? Are you ready?”
" Yes, let's go! I can't wait to enjoy a nice pool! " she answered immediately, throwing the car key to me before turning to the rest of the group " We'll meet you there? “
I caught the key still in the air, following the whole group that headed to the parking lot, disturbing for a few minutes the conversation I intended to have with her, who kept acting like nothing much was happening.
