A Phobia For Heights
Liliana Roslyn's POV.
My head still hurt a bit even though I've awoken minutes ago. The blurry version of what happened earlier roams in my mind faintly.
After minutes of sitting on the bed without doing anything, and also, I don't feel like reading the book now. So, I've decided to video call Lucas just to know his wellbeing.
In seconds, I dial his number and almost as soon as the ringing start, he's picked it up.
"Hey. How's the flight?" He ask. He's laying on the bed and I smile at him.
"It's fine." I say.
"Fine? Just fine?" He pause and access me well. "What's wrong?" He ask. I know Lucas. He's like a detector machine. He's always the one to already know what you're feeling. Or is it possible that he's reading my head from here?
He adds. "I'm sorry that I couldn't stop him. What did he do this time around?" Ask, Lucas, referring to Adrian.
"He almost killed a human, but I stopped him just in time before he could." I explain. A bit of anger, still beaming inside of me.
"How did you stop him?"
"By cutting myself." I say and drop my gaze from the phone's screen.
The flaring of Lucas eyes doesn't go unnoticed as he half-yell. "You what?!"
"No, I'm fine now. I needed to stop him!" I say back, trying to calm him.
The next thing Lucas says doesn't reach my ears as a knock bangs onto the door. The knock increases and I stand hurriedly to open it while Lucas ask, pretty concerned.
"What's wrong?" He says.
I didn't spare him a glance as I say. "I'll call you back. I'm coming."
After saying that, he says something but I couldn't hear. The person, hitting this door is going to destroy it if they continue to bang.
Just as I open the door and seeing a panic Miss. Sidekick, her breaths hitch. "We need to leave." She says. What the hell? Like I care about whatever the fucking hell she says?
What even give her the audacity to come and order me. I roll my eyes at her, definitely not concerned to her panicking. Suddenly, she gasp lightly, coupling with her eyes turning pitch full of voids as they change into concrete before her whole body follows this reaction and turns into a statue. She then fall, thudding backwards onto the ground.
What...the...madding...heck?
Quickly, my legs take me back staggeringly. I'm shaking uncontrollably, not because the sidekick was hurt but because of the serpent that hits her from behind as it turns into a large and huge beasty anaconda. After the sidekick falls, the anaconda turns into it's small, little snaky frame.
Followed by this is the frame of a beast in form of a woman.
She walks towards me a bit predatorily and I back more rapidly, shrinking myself against the wall.
She walks gracefully, accessing my scared frame before she tsk and says, amusingly. "How much you've grown, Liliana."
Her voice is bit faintly and whisperingly yet it's lucid to my hearings, she smiles at me and I take a few time to access her.
She has this aura in her that shows her powerfulness, breezing like a gusty wind of fragrance around her. She wears a full body armour, covering almost every part of her body. Her body radiates off strength and courage. She glows out invulnerability.
Behind her golden armour is a sharpened, circular shield that hangs onto her back firmly. On her head, is a golden warrior-like helmet that fixates perfectly in its position and surrounding her helmet are tons of alive serpent, sliding past each other with their moist scales.
Just as I'm checking her out, multitudes of owls flies into the room while two rest on her back as they latch their beak playfully on the body of the tiny snakes on her head.
As she takes more steps towards me, I feel more of her aura, zapping towards me.
"Who are you?" My voice trembles. She takes more steps towards and for some mysterious reasons, I find myself locking eyes with her.
I hear my own gasp as the revelation dawn on me.
"You're the one from my dream." I say, referring to the dream I had during the flight, and she nods. She's still looking at me with that grey eyes, urging me to continue.
"You're smart." Her powerful voice say. If she's here, what has she done to Adrian and the others? She must have hurt them before reaching me because I'm undoubtedly sure that they wouldn't go down without fighting her.
"No, I didn't. I promise Liliana and I'm not your enemy. I'm here to help." She says.
"What do you want?" I know that's dumb but I can't think straight.
She continues to stare at me without saying anything, another feeling rains on me and I'm locked into those grey eyes of hers again. Grey eyes?
Wait...grey eyes?!!
The innocent, teenage girl...the glamour...the sparkling and lightening woman in her true form...the serpents...owls...nature, flowing around her...the auras...beastly...the cell and the attack...the woman...shape shifter...
Oh, my... "You're the beast woman from the cell who glamoured herself as an innocent human girl..." I gasp more as I come into a full conclusion. "You're also the same girl from my dream, and you're the one stopping those benders. You're Pallas."
Even as I now know who she is, the problem is why would she be seeking me? I mean, she scared the hell out of me while at the cell and then she came to me as a dream and in that dream, she was very powerful. Also, part of the question is, how did she escape the cell, last I remember is Adrian being able to compel her and if she's here now, perhaps she's now stronger than the king of all benders.
She nods after I say all this. Suddenly, she pause for a second and her grey eyes beams more as her armour glows those golden lights.
"You need to follow me, now!" She hurries towards me as I now see the ground, turning liquidized. Only a set of species can do that...the earth benders.
"Why should I?" I ask, a bit dumbfoundedly. Her head snap towards me.
"Because your mother wants you to." She says. What?!
"My mother?" Questions, the extremely baffled me. Did she know my parents? It's impossible...
The ground turns molten and the frame of Lucas, vomits from it. His stance is strong and his eyes are frankly place on the beast woman...who's now known as Pallas. 'Only when you accept her will her name be revealed'. I recall what the human version of her said to me in my dream.
She seems to know my mother, maybe I should follow her. Just as Lucas grits his teeth, Pallas stretch her hands to grab me but Lucas' loud grumbling sound halts her.
"Don't you touch her." For the first time, I hear the other presence of his. His three-self. They are here to protect me from danger but I have a feeling that I need to follow Pallas. Lucas' pissed. Intensely pissed.
"I promised, Lucas. I can't hurt our saviour." Pallas says and for some reason, perhaps on hearing the word, saviour, Lucas calms down a bit but still holds up his guard.
"Leave her!" As if, Lucas was tapped to regain his consciousness, he grumble again and bend his hand in way that makes water surround him from the liquidizing ground as he makes them in form of whiplash towards Pallas.
"Evelyn wants me to take Ana." Pallas says just in time and the water freezes not to ice but stops before being able to hit her. Pallas eyes lock with Lucas'. "I promise her, never to hurt you. I'll take Ana whether you like it or not." She finishes with no space for agreement. Why are they talking like I'm not even here? And pardon me if I'm not lost here. Who's Evelyn?
"Neither you nor your king would stop me this time." Pallas finishes while Lucas is left there, paralyzed in his own mind at hearing the unclear words that Pallas says. I'm the odd one here since I don't get any of what they're saying.
Before I know it, the owls flies towards us and cover us before I hear the sound of a glass shattering. The air hits my face and an ear-piercing, deafening, and shrieking cry leaves my mouth. The heck is wrong with my life?
****
Ever been in a repetitive situation of an event which you have a phobia for? For me, it's a hell yes!
Honestly, I kind of have a phobia for heights or anything concerning it. Heights freak me but still, here I am, falling downwards with the same shrill I made the first time when those Harlow's attacked us and flew me on air.
The same is what Pallas' doing. She's flying us not upwards but...the heck? She wants me to have a panic attack because we're fucking-ly flying downwards, rather gravity's flashily pulling us downwards.
My whole system is in haywire. Nothing seems to register into my head anymore. My whole parts are widely on actions as they ramblingly imagine what's going to happen to them if we fall.
We continue to fall, not towards land but the large body of water that made up the sea behind commander Oliver's penthouse.
My screams is the only sound that accompany us apart from the owls and the serpents that are flying all around Pallas' head.
As we start to reach the sea, I scream more. She can't kill me, right? She shouldn't. If she truly knew my mother, she wouldn't, right? Does that even makes sense?!
What makes sense at a situation as this? Nothing, isn't it?
We fall more, just few seconds before impact.
The sea is now lucid to my blurry eyes because of the air that's hitting me, left and right.
Down we go.
Lower.
Lower.
Lower.
Just as we are at a very few seconds from crashing into the sea, something bubbles out of the water just after I hear a different foreign language muttered by Pallas which I'ven't heard before, not even from benders.
The bubbling becomes an object all of the crazy sudden as it takes a form before finally turning into a small boat just in time to getting smashed into the sea.
Mindlessly, I sigh in a sudden comfort that overwhelms my shaking body as Pallas drops me onto the back seat. The motor boat then start to vibrate before it drives itself in a direction and Pallas looks over at me as she's bending beside my laid frame.
She grins a bit before asking. "How was that?"
Her grey eyes is now normal with no glowing in their lens and her helmets too is off of the sparkling and lightening.
Wearily, I blurt out an answer. "I don't know you well but never do that to me ever again. That was intense."
My lids start to close since the phobia of heights has dwelled on me and my gaze moves heavenwards. Pallas' owls are flying straight above us, the multitudes of them, casting a shade on us from below and at the same time, covering the sun from hitting us.
"Rest, Ana. Work will start when you awoke." She says faintly as I doze off. But I wouldn't dare forget her last very faint words. "You've grown a lot and she'll be very proud of you."
..............and I'm finally gone.............
