Unknown Traits
King Adrian's POV.
"Adrian." A faint voice calls me as its owner shakes my shoulder gently, calling me back to consciousness. My lids open slowly and as soon as my blurry vision land on the figure, my whole body awakens instantly and jumps up.
"Ana!" I yell before whining when my forehead aches terribly, making me almost fall but Lucas grabs me.
I continue. "That...the hospes. She came..."
"Yes. I'm aware." Lucas says. Worriedness painting his figure.
Angry erupts in me like a molten lava as I ask. "Where's Ana?"
Lucas doesn't answer right away. I force myself to stand and move away from his hands that's supporting me before I finally rush towards the room.
"She's taken her!" Lucas calls from behind me and the next voice that comes out of me, grumbles. My anger shows in each words.
"She what?! I'm gonna yank off that hospes head."
Just as I finish, my bivatar awakens as does my monster. We turn into a gassy statues right away, ready to diffuse into the air and find where the hospes is, but Lucas' voice stops me mid-gas, mid-solid.
"Ramon's here. His men will track them."
I turn back to him in another set of fury, if he isn't my dear brother...his head would have been rolling on the floor now.
"You fucking think, I'd wait for those incompetents!" I yell. Mindlessly, I access the room I'm in to find out that, I'm in Ana and I's room. Lucas must have brought me here.
"Oh..." He laughs hysterically. Lucas isn't the type to facetious in a very serious matter. Definitely, something is wrong. "...you think, you'll just turn into gas and find her. Okay, you fucking tell me, if you find her and Ana, what're you gonna do?"
He pauses for a while but not waiting for my answer, he just continue. "You fucking think, you can fucking fight her." Lucas isn't the type to curse continuously. Something is surely and definitely wrong. "You can't fucking fight her. She's not the type to break or something we even know. Her powers are magnificent." Did he just give her accolades? I'll pretend I didn't just heard that . "None of us can fight her. What we'll do is to track her, know where she is and we'll come up with a plan to figure out her weaknesses and then, we'll save Ana."
Now, I'm still being stubborn. This is my beloved we're talking about. I can't just leave her like that to a being that we've been punishing for the past centuries. What if she wants to punish me back through Ana. This is a definitely no.
I spit. "I don't care, I'm going. You wanna figure out a plan. Tell me when I'm back with her stupid snaky head."
"Don't you fucking get it?!" He yells so angrily that I firstly thought all the windows would shatter. "She knows Evelyn." That calms my three-selves a bit. "She knows my beloved. And that can only mean that there's something she wants either from Liliana or to give her. I can feel the truth in her words, maybe because I'm not being controlled by my anger." Now he's talking back at me. "She can't hurt Ana because even my powers don't seem to want to hurt her, and that can only mean that my bivatar trust her. She told me that she promised Evelyn, she'll never hurt me. That fucking hospes knows things that every bender combined don't know." He finishes in a way that he's breathing hard.
Gradually, my three-selves finally calms down followed by me turning back to full solidity.
"Tell those men to hurry up or I'll decapitate them!" I order Lucas and he nods agreeing. "And.." I say to call him back since he's going out already. "Put that Maggie in the dungeons, the deepest of 'em, 'cause I don't want to see her face. If I did, I'll drain her to her last dying breaths."
"You know, none of us has a chance over the hospes." Lucas says, trying to help Alex's assistant but when my mind's in anger and I say things, they can't be retracted unless that anger goes down. Until Liliana comes back, she'll be in that dungeon.
"Take her there." I say finally and Lucas nods before walking out to execute my assignments.
"Where are you, Ana?" I faintly whisper and take my legs to the bed. Sitting on it, I pick up the tablet I gave Ana earlier and on it. Her last operation on the Android was watching human movies. I smile at this and play the movie from start.
It's been long since I last watch human movies. After the mass when the humans have been captured, I never go back to enjoy a bit of the humanly life. Truly, human life was interesting though. When Oliver said earlier that if you want to enliven, just watch the human movies. It's actually true, the human movies are more of interesting than this year benders movie.
Sliding down the headboard, I take the headset and connect it with the tablet before taking in Ana's scent on the bed and start to watch in an arising, and overwhelming depression.
Liliana Roslyn's POV.
My vision's blurry as consciousness dawn on me. I force myself to stand from the foamy mat I'm laying on before taking in my surroundings.
We're at dusk because the sun is going down and the sky's getting dark gradually. Nature surrounds where I'm in, as tall woods are scattered all over the place. I'm in a forest.
Opposite me is the boat that brought us here, floating on a lake that's a bit wide and by the lake is...Pallas.
"You're awake." She declares as she focuses back on what she's doing. Is she cooking us dinner or what? Us? Why'll I say that?
I stand and walk close to her. "Where am I?" I ask.
"Somewhere safe." She replies, curtly.
"Somewhere safe? I don't even know you." I say, my voice rising a bit.
"But you do trust me." She says, continuing with her cooking. I must say that smells nice.
"Thanks for complementing my cooking." She reads my mind aloud. Something I hate.
I huff and glare at her before a silver spoon suddenly appears at her hand after she murmurs some words, then she uses the spoon to pour me the soup she's cooking into a soup bowl.
She passes the bowl to me and somehow, I feel the urge to appreciate her and I did. She nods her head in response and I ask.
"What is this?" It tastes pretty delicious.
Her lips twitch up and I just realize that she's not wearing her warrior armour anymore. She's wearing a normal sleeveless green gown that stops just at her knees. She's beautiful. Too beautiful. How can someone be as beautiful as this?
I don't think my beauty reaches one-third of hers.
"Don't say that. You're beautiful in your own way just as I am in my own way." She's acting somewhat motherly. "It's called Fish soup."
Fish soup? I don't think I've heard that from anywhere.
"What's that?" I ask, clearly not understand her words.
She smiles back at me but doesn't say anything. We stay like this for minutes. Also, I notice that she's not drinking the remaining soup. Wait....is she trying to poison me?
"If I wanted you dead. I'd have killed you during your sleep." She says and I find myself nodding, agreeing.
"True." I mutter under my breaths.
She continues. "Make sure you fill your stomach because of tomorrow's work."
Oh, my...can't believe that I just forget to ask her about the reason why I'm here. I'm sometimes stupid when it comes to foods.
"That reminds me. I was asking...who the hell are you?"
"That's not what you were asking and you've asked me that more than a thousand time." She says. That's true.
"Why should I follow you?" Argh! I'm stupid. Haven't I asked her that before? Is her soup taking away my interrogative part?
"Because your mother wants you to." She replies nevertheless.
I nod before the realization dwells on me. "My mother? What did you know about her?" Let's face the truth here. I've always known that my mother will most likely be a slave too, to the benders and she's probably dead in the hands of some random bender. That's the most explanatory way to describe her life. I'm not being harsh but that's the truth, I very much think.
"She was not killed by benders." Pallas says. She can read my mind but for now, I'm not angry that she did. "In fact, she put benders in their boundary. She was fierce and strong and courageous. She travels through leagues of land and she learned a way to make benders like her and they all loved her and vow to protect her. She was loved amongst all."
Pallas looks ahead, lost and she's squinting her eyes as if she's seeing the images of my mother. I stop making sounds just to listen to her. She adds. "It was until she found one. A bender that..." She suddenly faces me, her face brightening up and she finally finishes.
"Enough about that. Just know that she wants you to follow me and she loved you very much." I nod at this as a bead of tears form on both part of my eyes.
Pallas faces front again and she's once lost into looking at the lake. "How did you know my mother?"
"Through fate." She replies.
"And why did you pick me? I mean, why would my mother want you to take me with you?" I pause for few seconds before I cool the anxiety in me then, I ask. "Is she still alive?"
There's something about Pallas that calls me close. She seems like someone I can trust. She seems inviting and it feels like everything she's been telling me are true.
"Because we need to go back to where it all started." She says. What started? I'm thoroughly in the dark.
"And where's that?"
"A place where the prophecy wants us to go." She's no difference when compared to Lucas' parables. She's failing very hard in explaining things.
She can't be a teacher. I'm sure her students would be understanding Z when she's saying A.
Excuse me? Quick question, why is it that all this supernatural beings with high knowledge doesn't used to say words clearly? They like to tell you the truth in a way that you'd be pulled more deeply into the dark.
I'm not going to give her the satisfaction that she's rubbished my brain. "What prophecy?"
"I can't tell you, now." There we go. Ugh! I hate this but I'm going to interrogate her more.
"Why won't you tell me anything? How do you expect me to understand?" I raise my voice.
"Unless you accept me, you can't, even if I explain."
"How do I accept someone who I don't fully know and wouldn't want to tell me things?" She's crazy!
"I can't tell you anything until you're able to get into the two states because I'm not sure if the prophecy is right. Darkness roams around nowadays. What if the prophecy is just another trick made by the darkness?"
"What darkness?"
"I'm sorry but I can't tell you things. Unless we're undoubtedly sure that you're truly pure." Now, she's facing me, boring those grey eyes into my blue ones. We?
"Pure?"
"Yes. We don't know if truly you're the pure bender. I tried my best to manipulate fate but fate is also tricky. There might be a possibility that you're not the pure bender. Until we get there tomorrow, I can't say anything."
"If you're not sure yet. Why did you pick me?"
"Because you're starting to show some traits. Traits that were buried into your mother's womb. Traits like being attracted to the king."
"What do you mean?" Why did she take the conversation to Adrian? What traits were trapped into my mother's womb? Traits! What did she mean by that word?
She should at least tell me something.
"Never mind, Ana. Things you don't know now will soon become something you'd get tired of when you see everything. I promise you, when you're ready to bear the truth. You'll know. Your body can't take them now. Also, you haven't seen the difference between the good and the bad. When it's time, you'll know Ana. Just more time." Her face glint with softness before she says coolly. "Eat well and be prepared."
"Fuck you." I mutter before continuing to sup.
