Chapter 21
Alissa POV
It has been fifteen years since anyone has shown up here at the cabins and uttered the word wolf to me. I had hoped I would never hear the phrase wolf again. I escaped from the pack so long ago. I don’t want to revisit those memories, but I have to help these women.
I continue cooking. Now I have three extra mouths to feed tonight. No worries, I have plenty for everyone.
“Bradley, I need you to help me get plates ready to take over to the cabin for the women,” I say to him as I stir the stew.
“Looks good, mom,” Bradley says.
Bradley is a sweet boy, considering his background. He has never turned, and I hope he never does. His father is a wolf. He is nothing like the wolves where I became pregnant against my will.
The wolves kidnapped me, forcing me into a relationship I did not want to be involved with at such a young age. I was smart. I played along until the wolves trusted me, then made my escape. He did come looking for me once. Lucky, the bastard had a heart and let me be. I would have killed him before I would’ve gone back with him to be his sex slave.
I pull the bread out of the oven and place it on the stove to cool. Bradley dips soup into bowls and places the bowls on a tray. I cut up cheese to set on the bowls' side, and then I slice my still hot homemade bread.
“Grab the tray; I will get a pitcher of tea,” I say to Bradley.
I do not know how much damage has been done. Bradley will only help me take the food in the cabin. He might startle the women. I am sure they have a story to tell.
Bradley follows me out the door to cabin number one. It is my most excellent cabin and the one closest to ours. If the women need me, I will be close by and ready to shot if necessary.
I knock on the door. I hear the three women scurrying around in there. “It is just me, Alissa; I have food for you and a pitcher of tea,” I say to them through the door.
Kendra peers out the door to ensure it is me. She fully opens the door when she realizes it is only my son and me.
“Bradley is going to help me bring in food and then leave,” I say.
Kendra nods. She backs away from the door to allow Bradley and me into the cabin. Bradley quickly sets down the tray holding the soup, then leaves. I set the pitcher of tea down on the table.
“You ladies look hungry; please eat. There are glasses in the cabinet. I will get the glasses for you,” I say.
The two younger ones look petrified. Kendra holds herself well.
“Thank you,” Kendra says as she takes a seat at the table.
“It’s okay,” Kendra says to the other two.
“I am not going to tell anyone you are here; if that is what you are worried about, you can put your mind at ease. We won't hurt you. I know you three have been through it with those wolves,” I say.
“How do you know?” Kendra asks.
“I was there once a long time ago, held captive, until I managed to escape with my son,” I say.
“Bradley is a wolf?” Kendra asks.
“Yes, but he has never transformed into one. I have managed to keep both of us safe for a long time,” I say.
“I was kidnapped twice, once by Tobias and the second time by Thomas,” Kendra says.
“I know them both, very well,” I say.
“They were both kidnapped by Tobias,” Kendra says.
“Tobias and Thomas are both evil, as well as their Alpha. That damn Alpha took me. I was 21. I had my entire life planned out,” I say.
“How did you escape?” Kendra asks.
“It wasn’t easy, but I managed to get help from a nurse at the doctor’s office. I was pregnant with Bradley. I guess she felt sorry for me, and she helped me get out. She got out years later; she came to see me here,” I say.
“They know where you are? We aren’t safe here,” Kendra says.
“Oh yes, you are. My husband is a wolf hunter, trust me when I say you are safe,” I say.
“Alpha let you leave with his child?” Kendra asks.
“Bradley doesn’t belong to Alpha. Alpha took me, but he gave me to Tobias. Bradley belongs to Tobias,” I say.
“Tobias never mentioned any of this to me,” Kendra says.
“Why would he? You were only there for his pleasure, no matter what you think. He is an evil pig,” I say.
“He told me he loved me and wanted to marry me,” Kendra says.
“Oh, Honey, he was only trying to keep you compliant. He did not love you,” I say.
The two other women eat while Kendra and I talk. I can tell she is heartbroken over Tobias. He did an actual number on her. He is a twisted wolf.
“What do we do now? I cannot go home. They will find me,” Kendra says.
“Yes, they will. Thomas is one hell of a tracker,” I say.
“Thomas is dead. Tobias killed him for trying to beat me,” Kendra says.
“Those two were close friends at one time. That surprises me. Are you sure he is dead?” I ask her.
“Yes, I saw his body. Alpha and some other wolves came to the house to retrieve me. There was a fight. Tobias gave me his car to get away,” Kendra says.
“I will have Bradley check the car for a tracker. Tobias is not the sweet wolf, you think. Remember, the man kidnapped you. He does not love you, Kendra,” I say.
“He told me there was a falling out between them over Alpha’s sister,” Kendra says.
“Patrice, she had it bad for Tobias. She would come to the house to abuse me. She was a horrid creature herself. Tobias would make me have sex with the two of them,” I say.
“You ladies, settle in; you are safe here. I will get you clothes and help you come up with a plan. You are welcome here as long as you need a place to stay. My husband will protect us,” I say.
“Thank you,” Kendra says.
“Bradley will check your car for a tracker. If you see him out here, don’t be alarmed. I can assure you he is a kind man,” I say.
“I am sure he is. We are not afraid of him. How old is he” Kendra asks.
“He will be 26 tomorrow, and we are having a small party for him, just local people. You three are welcome to join,” I say.
“He is 26. The wolves have been doing this for a long time,” Kendra says.
“They have been doing this for a very long time, Kendra. It may be time we stop them,” I say.
“I think it is time; I have no idea how to stop it,” Kendra says.
“We do,” I say.
I get up from the table and leave the women to eat. They need a little peace and quiet after everything they have been through with the wolves. Kendra is correct; it is time to stop all of this, and I know how.
