Chapter 26
Bradley POV
Kendra stays close to me most of the night. The vampires work on a solid plan to capture Alpha. She becomes tired, and eventually, I take her back to her cabin to rest. Mother relocates Stephie and Tete to another cabin. Kendra will have one to herself from now on. This arrangement works great for me if I want to see her privately.
I want to do something for her. I know all of this has her stressed out. I have no idea what she would like, but I need to think of something for tomorrow. Maybe I could take her to the beach for a picnic. She loves the water.
I stand outside her cabin, watching the activity from the vampires.
“Are you worried?” Mother asks me.
“Not really; I am worried about her but not about whether or not the vampires can catch Alpha,” I say.
“They will get him; I have no doubt. Everyone is settled in for the night. I used some of the older cabins. Not the best place to have to stay, but it puts a roof over their head for the night,” my mother says.
“How many was it?” I ask.
“I lost count, but there are a lot of them. They will all need a lot of medical attention and time to decompress from their ordeal,” my mother says.
“Kendra seems to be adjusting well,” I say.
“She was lucky; she landed here with us,” my mother says.
“I am going to go check on her,” I say.
“The vampires are leaving soon to track down Alpha; let her know,” my mother says.
“I will, mom,” I say to her. She walks in the direction of the vampires to help them prepare to leave again.
I go inside Kendra’s cabin. She is lying across the bed, sleeping. She looks peaceful and beautiful. I sit in a chair close to the door. She can rest, and I will keep watch over her.
I begin to sink into the chair. I guess I am sleepier than I thought. I cannot hold my eyes open. As I start to drift into a deep sleep, I hear a commotion outside. I swear vampires are noisier than I ever thought they would be. I try to wake up, but it isn't easy. The noise is getting louder. I have to see what the hell is going on.
I sit up in the chair I have slumped over in to nap. I look at the bed to check on Kendra. She is not on the bed sleeping. I get up. As I go to the door, I notice it is cracked open slightly. Fuck in hell; I hope she did not go out there to see what is going on.
I open the door the rest of the way. I hear a noise behind me. When I turn, it is Kendra.
“Where were you?” I ask her.
“The kitchen, I was thirsty. You were sleeping; I did not mean to wake you,” Kendra says.
“The door is open. Did you do that?” I ask her.
“No, it was closed when I got up; I was trying to be quiet,” Kendra says.
We hear noise coming from the back bedroom of the cabin.
“Someone is in here,” I say to her.
I grab her and pull her close to me. I tower over her now. I think I grew more while I was sleeping.
“Maybe we should leave the cabin,” Kendra says.
I think you are right. We go out the front door of the cabin. The noise coming from outside is my mother and father. They are cooking for the guests. Everyone is gathered, drinking and eating around the bonfire. Chuck is grilling meat for everyone.
“It is really early for all of this, don’t you think?” I say.
“Well, they are probably starving. Your mom is going to take care of people,” Kendra says.
“Want to join them?” I ask her.
“Is it bad that I only want to be with you, I really care what happens to all of them, but I don’t want to rehash everything we have been through any time soon,” Kendra says.
I lean down and kiss her forehead. “I am fine with being with you,” I say to her.
I do not like all of the crowds. I would rather cuddle up with her.
I turn to open the cabin door for her. We hear a rustling in the cabin. I open the door and push her behind me. “Let me go in first,” I say to her.
“It is probably nothing,” Kendra says.
“You are probably right, but let’s air on the side of caution,” I say to her.
She agrees and stays behind me as I open the door. I peer in and see nothing. I go into the cabin; she stays behind at the door entrance.
As I go through the cabin room to room, I suddenly hear a squeal coming from the front of the cabin. Fuck! Kendra!
I run back to the front of the cabin. Alpha is standing behind Kendra; he has his arms wrapped around her. He has his nose close to her neck, smelling her.
“You smell like you need to be fucked,” I hear Alpha say to her.
“Back off bitch,” I yell at him.
He pulls Kendra into the cabin. “Oh, look, a pup,” Alpha says to me.
He throws Kendra onto the ground. He leaps toward me, taking his wolf form. He is going to kill me and do horrible things to her. I have no idea how to transform into my wolf.
Alpha is over me, drooling. I am small under his wolf form. Kendra is lying on the ground, terrified.
“Get help!” I scream at her.
Alpha reaches for her. He slams her to the ground knocking her unconscious. Kendra lays lifeless on the ground by the cabin door. I hope someone hears the commotion.
“I am going to kill you pup, then take her to be my sex slave. I need her to repopulate my pack,” Alpha says.
My mother and Chuck rush in to see Alpha over me in his complete wolf form. “Get Kendra out of here,” I scream from under Alpha.
“You could submit to me,” Alpha says.
“Never,” I respond.
“Then you will die,” Alpha says.
