Chapter 30
Bradley POV
I walk out of the cabin to give myself a break from Kendra and get her something to eat. I would never have thought a heat from a half-wolf could be so draining. I notice mother and Chuck talking to several rather large men. My mother begins rushing to me. What the hell is going on now?
“Bradley, there are men here who say that you are now Alpha of the Moon pack. You killed the Alpha that makes you Alpha,” My mother says in a panic.
“What? I do not want to be their Alpha,” I say.
The men make their way to me. They are both vast wolves but nowhere my size. I stand tall as they approach. They both are at least a foot below me in height.
“Bradley, I am Jacob, and this is my brother Joe. We are part of the council of wolves,” Jacob says.
“I know why you are here. I do not want to be an Alpha,” I say.
“You do not have a choice. You took his life, and now you must take control of the pack,” Jacob says.
“Isn’t the entire pack dead?” I ask.
“No, there are still women and children who will need guidance. It is up to you to protect them,” Jacob says.
Kendra walks out as I am having this discussion. Her eyes are now like emeralds.
“She looks like her mother,” Joe says.
“Who me?” Kendra asks.
“Yes, I knew your mother. I am married to your aunt Sherry,” Joe says.
“I don’t have an aunt named Sherry,” Kendra says.
“Kendra, you are part of my pack. We put you up for adoption to protect you. There is so much you need to know,” Joe says.
“I am not very fond of wolves,” Kendra protests.
He looks at me and then back to her. “You seem to be fond of this one,” Joe says as he lays his hand on my shoulder.
“It is understandable. Look who his mother is and who her parents are. They are fated to mate,” Jacob says.
The two brothers continue talking as if we are not even there. “Kendra, you do realize you are in heat,” Joe says.
“We figured that out,” I say.
“Well, it will not get any easier until it passes. She can take medication to help with the symptoms. When a wolf finds their mate for the first time, they go into a savage heat. Next time will not be as bad. She will be out of control for a few days,” Joe says.
“I won't hurt him, will I?’ Kendra asks.
“Not physically, but he might want to stock up on some vitamins,” Joe says, almost laughing.
“I do not find it funny,” Kendra says.
“Oh, you are right. I am sorry. Most wolf women are prepared for this by their mothers. I guess you did not have that luxury. I can have your aunt Sherry here within the hour,” Joe says.
“Have you ever transformed into a wolf?” Joe asks.
“Why in the hell would I do that?” Kendra asks.
“Because, my sweet girl, you come from a long line of mighty women leaders. The wolf women in our pack are a lot stronger than the men. You can shift whenever you want. To be perfectly honest, if you would both shift and do the deed, to be frank about it, you need to shift and fuck to get over this,” Joe says.
“And if I do not shift?” Kendra asks.
“It could last a month,” Joe says.
“I cannot do this for a month, Kendra,” I say.
“Okay, can Sherry help me learn to shift?” Kendra asks.
“Yes, I will make the call,” Joe says.
“We want to get married today,” Kendra says.
“I can take care of that,” Jacob says.
“Seriously, how?” Kendra asks.
“I am an Alpha. I can marry you. Actually, since Bradley here is now an Alpha, all he has to do is say that you are mated and married, and then it is done. There is nothing formal. He only has to choose you,” Joe says.
“Well, then Bradley, do you choose me?” Kendra asks me.
“Yes, Kendra, I choose you to be my mate,” I say.
“There you are married, now we need to take care of her heat cycle next then we will figure out a way to get your pack situated,” Jacob says.
How did this happen? I am the Alpha for a pack I hate. My new wife is in heat, and I got married by uttering the words I choose you.
I take Kendra back into the cabin. “I am going to go talk to them about the pack. I do not want to be Alpha for the moon pack,” I say.
“It could be a good thing. Something good to come from so much bad,” Kendra says.
Maybe she is right. “I never wanted to be a wolf or lead a pack,” I say.
“At least you knew; this all just landed in my lap,” Kendra says.
“We could change things for the pack. Make a better community for the moon pack,” I say.
“We could, and you know what I think we should,” Kendra says.
“I am going to go talk to them; you really need to eat something,” I say to her.
“I will make me something here. I think I will stay hidden until this aunt sherry person gets here,” Kendra says.
“I understand; it is a lot for you to take in too,” I say to her.
“It is. I wonder how much my parents knew about where I came from when he took me. Don’t you find it odd that I was taken by wolves considering who my parents are?” Kendra asks.
“You think Tobias knew who you were?” I ask.
“He never said anything, but Alpha had a lot of interest in me from the first time he saw me,” Kendra says.
“None of this makes sense,” I say.
