Chapter 31
Kendra POV
Bradley leaves me alone. I know he needs a break from me. I cannot help it. When I am close to him, I have this burning fire deep within my body. I want him inside me. I crave his seed.
I am having a hard time understanding that I am a wolf. I don’t believe it. I look in the mirror and see my new eyes looking back at me. I have seen those eyes before. I don’t want to even think about who my father was or why I was given up for adoption. Joe said I was given up to be protected. I wonder if it was from the Alpha of the Moon Pack. Does any of this even matter?
I love Bradley. Fated to mate or not, I know my feelings for him are real. I want to be with him. If he needs to be Alpha, then I will be his mate and help him. If he does not want to be Alpha, then I will stand by that decision too. No matter what he decides, I will back him up.
I hear someone outside my door. I don’t give them the chance to knock. I have had enough surprises to last me for a lifetime. I go to the door. A beautiful redhead with green eyes is on the other side of the door.
“How can I help you?” I ask her.
“You do look like your mother,” Sherry says.
“I wouldn’t know,” I say.
“Well, I have pictures of her if you want to see,” Sherry says.
“Not really; I just need you to help me control this heat before I fuck my husband to death,” I say.
“Well, I can help with that,” Sherry says.
“Come in,” I say.
Sherry comes into the cabin. She looks around. “Have you been here long?” Sherry asks.
“Only since I escaped from the hell of the moon pack,” I say.
“I heard about all of that nasty mess,” Sherry says.
“Lucky for us, we were able to put a stop to a lot of it,” I say.
“There are some good wolves in that pack,” Sherry says.
“Then why did they allow these wolves to kidnap and do horrible things?” I ask her.
“Maybe they did not know,” Sherry hisses back at me.
“Look, I am sorry, but this is a lot to take on in a short amount of time,” I say.
“I get it, and I kept an eye on you over the years. I did not know that you were on their radar, or I would have intervened,” Sherry says.
“Do you think the Alpha knew who I was?” I ask.
“Probably, you have her scent. He would have known there is something special about you,” Sherry says.
“There is nothing special about me,” I say.
“You are the Alpha’s mate. I would say you are exceptional,” Sherry says.
“Bradley is a great man, wolf, or whatever. He is wonderful. I have never met anyone like him,” I say.
“Okay, well, we need to get to the basics,” Sherry says.
“Is turning going to be hard for me?” I ask her.
“No, not at all. In fact, I have something to help you do it,” Sherry says.
“What?” I ask.
“The moon pack stone, it is designed for turning on command. All you do is wear it around your neck, and boom, you can turn,” Sherry says.
“That is it,” I ask.
“Yes, I brought one for each of you. When you turn, you will be a wolf for about 12 hours, and then you will turn back. Before long, you will be able to do it without the stone. I brought your mother's stone for you and a pack stone for Bradley,” Sherry says.
“So we turn, then we have sex, then the heat will pass,” I ask.
“It should fix your burning desire to fuck his brain out. When you go into your next heat, it will not be this bad, I promise,” Sherry says.
“I do not want to get pregnant yet,” I say.
“I have no answer for that. You can get on the pill just like most of us,” Sherry says.
“It is a little late for that,” I say.
“Kendra, you probably won’t get pregnant on your first heat,” Sherry says.
“Good, I do not think I am ready,” I say.
“At some point, you will be,” Sherry says.
“Someday, yes, not today,” I say.
“You will be fine. Wait until dark, turn and have fun. Run through the woods together. Enjoy each other. There is nothing like it,” Sherry says.
“Is it painful?” I ask.
“I am not going to lie to you; it is not the most comfortable thing you will ever do in your life. It takes time to get used to it. Once you do, you will look forward to it,” Sherry says.
“I am sure I will be fine,” I say.
“I know you will. I want to see you after you and Bradley get settled. I know the both of you have a lot going on. He does seem to care a lot about you,” Sherry says.
“I know he does. I love him,” I say.
“I am going to go, take care of you,” Sherry says.
“I will,” I say.
Sherry leaves. I pick up the moon pack stones she left for Bradley and me. This doesn’t seem too complicated. I am sure we can figure it out. I lay the stones back down.
I want to be a good mate for Bradley and help him through all of this. What if he wants children now and I am not ready? Is it wrong of me to feel this way? He would be a great father, and Alissa would be an amazing grandmother. I will let fate decide. Fate brought us together. It can determine if we will be parents. Everything that has happened in the last few days has been fate, so why not?
