Chapter 35
Bradley POV
I reach and take her hand. I can tell she is not as excited as I am. I understand after everything she has been through with the wolves. I think she will be a great mother. I hope her excitement will grow.
“You don’t have to be happy if you are not. You know you can always be real with me about how you feel,” I say to Kendra.
She holds my hand tighter. “Shouldn’t we be concentrating on you and your recovery right now,” Kendra says.
“You are more important to me than anything else. Tell me how you feel,” I say to her.
She squeezes my hand. “Bradley, I love you. I do not know how or why I fell in love with you so fast, but I did. I am so happy I stopped her. Everything I went through, no matter how horrible it was, led me to you. I am so thankful for that. I will be okay. I only need to adjust to the idea of being a mother,” Kendra says.
“I was thinking when I am healed; we should have a huge wedding here. I think it would be something great,” I say.
“Me too, but you need to heal fast. I do not want to be fat on my wedding day,” Kendra says.
“As soon as I can stand up, I will marry you for real, not some dumbass I choose you shit,” I say to her.
“Good, I want that,” Kendra says.
“Lay beside me,” I say to her. I pull the covers back for her to get in the bed with me.
“I will, but you have to keep your hand and cock to yourself,” Kendra says, laughing as she climbs into bed with me.
“I will try really hard not to be a pervert,” I say to her.
She climbs under the covers with me. I cover us both up. She falls into a deep sleep. I know her night has been horrible. She has experienced so much in such a short period of time. Now on top of everything, I am hurt, and she finds out she is pregnant.
I look at her cradled in my arms. She is so extremely beautiful. She looks like an angel sleeping beside me. She deserves more than this horrible wolf shit going on in our life. I promise I will keep the wolves out of both of our lives and our children’s lives for as long as I can.
The door opens to the cabin. My mother is coming in with Chuck. They look down at Kendra sleeping.
“We need to wake her; Sherry will be here soon,” My mother says.
I look at her sleeping so sound. “What are you up to?” I ask the two of them.
“We had Kendra call Sherry and tell her you are dead and that we blamed her. Sherry thinks she is coming to get her,” My mother says.
“Then what?” I ask.
“Then I am going to kill the bitch, but first I am going to find out why she wanted you dead,” Chuck says.
“Do you really need her for that? What if she is hurt?” I ask.
“She won’t be. When Sherry gets her, we will instruct her to go to the rear cabin to pick up Kendra; Chuck will be waiting for Sherry. He will grab her there,” my mother says.
“Then leave Kendra here with me; you don’t need her,” I say.
“What if Sherry sees her in here,” My mother says.
“Look, I do not want her to be in any kind of danger; she is pregnant with my child,” I say.
“Okay, we can turn the lights off in this cabin. I will lock the two of you in the cabin. Just make sure she does not leave this cabin for any reason,” Chuck says.
The two check the back door and all of the windows. They close all of the curtains tight. My mother turns out the lights, then locks the front door and deadbolt from the outside. I know Chuck will not let anything happen to my mother. I am in no shape to defend Kendra or myself. I will not let anything happen to her if I have to lay down my own life.
Kendra opens her eyes. “Why is it so dark in here?” Kendra asks.
“Mom and Chuck are waiting for Sherry; you are staying here with me until they have her,” I say to her. I rub her arm to soothe her.
She moves, and I groan.
“I am sorry. Did I hurt you?” Kendra asks.
“No, I am only a little sore from where he removed the bullet. I am fine, I promise,” I say.
“I can get up and lay on the couch,” Kendra says.
“No, I want you in the bed with me,” I say.
She lays her head back on my arm and drifts back off to sleep. She is exhausted and deserves to rest. I will not have my pregnant wife lying on the couch where I cannot get to her if I need to protect her.
I close my eyes to try to rest a few moments before Sherry gets on the property. My mother and Chuck are working quickly to get everything in place. I know they will protect each other, but I have to be ready. I wish the vampire blood would kick in, and I would heal faster.
The drugs they used on me to remove the bullet are not helping at all. I need to snap out of it. I need to close my eyes only for a second. I try to fight the sleep, but it is coming strong. I drift into sleep beside Kendra.
I awake to hear screaming coming from outside. It is my mother screaming, but I cannot understand what she is saying. I look beside me, and Kendra is missing. I scan the room quickly to see if she moved to the couch. The front door to the cabin is open, and there is a large blood pool at the door.
