Chapter 16 Celebrations
Saanvi and Utkarsh decided to do the ceremony by the outskirts of the city. So, we picked a destination in Friend’s Regency in Lonavala. My brother’s engagement party left me with a lot of stuffs to take care of, from preparing the guest list, finding the perfect decoration for the weeding, arranging the packs and boxes for his in-laws, preparing the perfect jewelry for Saanvi and the perfect suit for Utkarsh.. We all were going crazy for the event. Our lives were about to change for the better. Even though we went through many hardships of the ceremony we still felt overjoyed to know that this ceremony was going to be a success.
The event was leading up to a great expectation that I hadn’t felt in any other ceremony for a long time. This was the time for me to celebrate. I was filed with excitement. Every member of our family was busy shopping, all the smiles on our faces were glittering. It felt as if we were in a movie and could tell that it was going to be a success.
Finally, the day arrived. We were on our way to Lonavala. When I wasn’t driving Ishita took charge of driving. Utkarsh and Saanvi were with us in the car. I was sitting on the front seat and was enjoying it. I already felt rejuvenated. It felt like a vacation for me. There was no room for me to worry, my closest friend and brother was getting married. We reached the spot and went our respective rooms. I got a little tired and wanted to relax for a bit as there was still a bit of time left before the ceremony could begin. I slept for an hour.
By the time I had woken up, all the guests had arrived. Utkarsh was meeting and greeting them in the main hall. We still had time before the ceremony would begin, about four left in hand. Meanwhile, Aparna had arrived with her husband Pratham who seemed bursting with happiness.
As everyone readied themselves there was still few more things left to do and those were, get Utkarsh ready for his own weeding. He was supposed to wear a black tuxedo while I would wear a white one. With us readied to go, we now just had to make sure that the girls are ready too. The girls were taking a lot of time and unable to wait any longer Utkarsh, his dad and me went door to door, to ask them to hurry up.
I told them all to hurry up as I was about to knock on the last door Ishita came out of it dressed beautifully. For a moment, I didn’t recognize her. She was glowing like a star.
“Wow, you look beautiful,” I exclaimed
“Thank you, Avi. You look good too,” she replied and moved towards my left side. I was allured by her dazzling aroma.
...
“I like the decorations Avi, especially the neon design of Utkarsh and Saanvi’s name on the wall. That was a good idea.”, Ishita complimented.
“Thank you,” I said.
The guest had arrived and everything was looking absolutely amazing, I could tell Utkarsh was happy. The smile on his face when Saanvi entered the hall was priceless.
As Utkarsh and Saanvi walked towards the aisle together, the entire room seemed to glow up as it basked in their radiance.
The happy couple exchanged their rings, smiling and holding each other’s hands. They sat in front of a bouquet of pink roses, and the groom leaned in for a forehead kiss. Then everyone began cheering for the happy couple. Everyone from their respective family started snapping pictures of the memorable day. I started feeling a bit hungry and, with Aparna, went towards the chat station, where we were joined by Ishita. We went from one stall to another and soon enough we were full.
As Utkarsh and Saanvi had danced for the first time as an official married couple, we in turn responded by clapping our hands and blessing them for the future to come. After their first dance had ended, a range of songs started playing and everyone also started dancing in excitement and joy, I too joined with the rest of my family. .
We were filled with happiness and having fun when suddenly the music had stopped.
