Two months had passed but major television channels and newspapers were still featuring S’bu and Thandi’s wedding. Both S’bu and Thandi had gone back to work. S’bu was very busy working very early until late, sorting out all the work he neglected when he was taking care of Thandi. He was grateful for the breakfast and lunch his wife arranged to be delivered to his office or he would starve. He was so busy that he left Thandi to attend to all of Amahle’s needs. It warmed his heart to find them chatting and giggling every time he got home. They insisted on waiting for him and have supper together as a family no matter how busy his schedule was. He soon realised that these two chatty people were everything to him. Thandi was now used to Amahle’s school programs. She would drop her off in the morning and pick her up in the afternoon. S’bu had arranged a driver but Amahle wanted Thandi to drop and fetch her from school. She made time to attend all of Amahle’s school functions and was now familiar with most of her school teachers. The first month after the wedding, Amahle had dragged her everywhere and introduced her as her Mother to all her friends and teachers. Thandi discovered that her daughter was not only smart but also very understanding and respectful. She thought Amahle was very matured for her age and enjoyed conversations with her.
While Thandi was happy at home, it was not the same at work. Their promising research had come to a stand still. It did not matter how many times she did the equations and experiment, it was impossible to prove their hypothesis. Thandi was now exhausted, she had done the experiment over 100 times to no avail. Every time they measured one particle, the ones they measured before changed and they had to start over again.
“It’s no use Thandi, we just proved quantum entanglement over 100 times” Mandy said discouraged.
“I am not ready to give up yet” Thandi said.
“This is not a mathematics problem that you continue working on until you get the answer. The Bells theorem and quantum entanglement have been here over 100 years and no scientists have managed to disproof it” Mandy said trying to convince her friend to give up. She knew that giving up was not in Thandi’s vocabulary but this time she saw no way through.
“I have to go fetch Amahle from school, we will look at it again tomorrow” Thandi said taking her bag.
Mandy shook her head and took out her phone to call her brother.
“MaJobe” S’bu answered the call lovingly.
“Our research has come to a stand still and I see no way around it but Thandi refuses to give up” Mandy said.
“Maybe you need to look at it from a different angle or do everything over again”S’bu suggested.
“You are starting to sound like her. You know she did the calculations and the experiment 100 times today alone? We have been trying for the whole week. There’s no other angle but she won’t give up” Mandy said sounding defeated.
“I’m sorry, I had no idea that it was that bad. I have been working late every day that I have not had a chance to find out how your research was going” S’bu said feeling guilty. “What do you need from me?” he asked.
“Convince your wife to give up so we can start a new project” she suggested.
“I don’t even understand half of the stuff you do there, how do I convince her to give up what I don’t even understand?” he asked.
“She’s your wife, she will listen to you” she said.
“I can’t promise you anything but I will talk to her” he said before ending the call. S’bu decided to go home early to talk to his wife. He thought that he would find her upset or discouraged but Thandi was her usual self. They had an early supper for the first time since the wedding because this time S’bu came back home early. After supper, S’bu decided to help Amahle with her homework and putting her to bed, giving Thandi some time to herself. He thought he would talk to Thandi about her research when he got to their bedroom but she was in the shower when he walked in and he decided to join her. Thandi gasped looking at him with water dripping. It did not matter how many times she has seen him naked, she still found his physique so perfect and irresistible.
“I’m sorry that I have neglected you” he said, enjoying the effect he has on her.
“I understand that you have a lot of work” she said, touching his chest.
He gasped, feeling the heat rising from his belly. He pulled her closer and kissed her neck hard. “I have managed to sort all the major issues at JC, I promise to spend more time with you from now on” he whispered to her ear.
“We would love that” she said with a moan that was guaranteed to drive him crazy. He moved his lips to her mouth, kissing her passionately. Unable to wait any longer he picked her up. Thandi wrapped her legs around his waist and her arms around his neck. He positioned himself inside her and pressed her against the shower wall making her moan louder. They both moved in unison against the shower wall until they reached the climax.
“I’m glad you made our bedroom, sound proof” she said thinking about the noise they were making and Amahle who was sleeping a floor below them.
“I knew that you found me irresistible and how great I am at making you moan, so I made a plan” he said proudly.
Thandi rolled her eyes, S’bu had no problems complementing himself.
“How’s your research going?” he asked.
“We are experiencing some challenges but I’m sure that we will figure a way out soon” she said enthusiastic. S’bu had hoped that Thandi was feeling defeated like Mandy, then he would be able to convince her to give up but his wife was so enthusiastic that there was no way he could even try change her mind. He decided to leave research to Thandi and Mandy and discuss plans for their soon coming baby.
