Till death
S’bu and Thandi were inseparable from the day she was discharged from the hospital. They were spotted a multiple times walking holding hands, sharing ice cream at their favourite ice cream shop with their children. Thandi’s relationship with Dlamini and Jobe family had also improved. S’bu and Menzi’s relationship was even better than before. They literally spent every other day in each other’s homes just like they did growing up. Menzi brought Joy every time he came until her fear of marriage subsided after witnessing how in love S’bu and Thandi were after everything they went through. Thandi was happy to gain a new friend and they soon discovered that they had a lot in common. Their relationship made Mandy and Cindy uneasy as they felt that they were loosing Thandi to Joy and it didn’t help that they betrayed her.
“It’s going to take some time for me to get over everything but you are all my friends and I will always love you”Thandi had said to reassure them.
The divorce case was canceled after Thandi informed her lawyers that she no longer had intention of divorcing S’bu.
“S’busiso can you reverse everything you transferred under my name now. The judge won’t be authorising the JC employees salaries anymore because the divorce hearing has been canceled” She pleaded with him.
“Nope” he said shaking his head.
“I can’t be in charge of all of this while doing my research” she complained.
“If you ask very nice I can do it for you but I’m not reversing anything” he said.
“S’busiso!” she exclaimed. S’bu was being impossible. “Do you know how many man are confessing their undying love for me because they want all this wealth?” she asked teasing.
“What man?” he asked getting jealous.
“Take it back, then I will tell you” she said.
“I don’t blame them. You are the most beautiful, sexiest women I have ever seen. Tell them to bring their A game, they can even come to me for tutorials on how to please you” he said mischievously.
“S’busiso!” she exclaimed. “So, you don’t love me anymore. You even want to give me to other man” she said pretending to be hurt.
“I could never stop loving you” he said pulling her to his arms. “I will authorise all the salaries, will that make you happy?” he asked.
“Fine, pay Aunt Lungi as well. I am tired of receiving her apology cards and gifts.”
Four months after their make up, S’bu and Thandi finally agreed to have a interview with Joyce who was a journalist for one of the to media companies.
Joyce was the student journalist who had recorded S’bu confessing being in love with Thandi back in university. Her story had lead to Thandi’s abduction but she had apologised for it. She had covered a lot of their story through the years and was grateful that they chose to speak to her now.
“There is something else I needed to give my wife and I needed to do it in public for everyone to see” S’bu said giving Thandi documents.
Thandi looked at them and her heart sank. She thought they were happy again, then why was S’bu divorcing her? “You are divorcing me?” she asked softly.
Joyce and the audience were so shocked by the news. They all thought the two had made up and have been photographed together seemingly in love but it turned out that was not the case.
“I fell in love with you the first time I laid my eyes on you and I knew then that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with you” S’bu said. “I relentlessly persuaded you to be mine and when I had you, I was so terrified of loosing you that I did everything in my power to make it impossible for you to ever leave me. Even when I was angry with you, thinking that you cheated on me, I still could not get myself to sign the divorce papers. I love you and I think you know that but I don’t want to wonder if you are still with me because I refused to let you go. Thandiswa Jobe, love of my life, I am letting you go. I am divorcing you” he said.
“Do you promise not to block the divorce as soon as we get out of here” Thandi asked.
“I promise” he said, sincerely.
“Once we are divorced, I can go and work anywhere in the world?” she asked.
“Yes, as long as I get to visit my children” he said.
“Okay” Thandi said, taking out a pen and signing the papers. She gave them back to him and walked towards the door. S’bu looked at the papers in his hand. This was something he had to do but it hurt like hell. He was paging through the papers when he noticed that Thandi wrote Till death instead everywhere she was meant to sign.
“MaDlamini, please come back here” he called when Thandi was about to leave the room.
Thandi took few steps back towards him.
“Are you refusing to divorce me?” he asked with a grin. He threw the papers in the air, pulled her to his arms and kissed her passionately.
“We are in public” Thandi said pushing him away.
“I don’t care” he said kissing her again.
“S’busiso!” she said pushing his away again.
Joyce and her assistant had managed to pick up all the papers S’bu threw in the air and saw what Thandi wrote.
“Mrs Jobe says she will be yours till death” she said excited.
“Yes she does, so to all the man that have been chasing my wife I say eat your hearts out suckers” he said.
Thandi laughed at S’bu childishness. She had been called a lot of names: simple, serene, smart, sexy, gold digger, whore, crazy but she was his queen. It was not always easy to wear that crown but she loved him so much and could not see herself without her king.
