Chapter 15
Thea's Point of View
I didn't know what to do, so I sat in the corner of the hallway and let my tears slowly fall. Because my chest hurt so much, I stooped down. I had a lot of questions, but the one that kept coming to mind was, "Maybe he thought it was me because we both wore the same dress."
*Ting*
I saw the guards when I heard the elevator. They picked up on me right away. When they saw how I looked, their eyes got big.
The one guard talked while putting something in his ear. Come to the office, Beatrice. The clothes Mrs. Holden is wearing got dirty.
The guard who spoke took my bag and helped me get into a small room.
The staff looked at me as we walked. I thought about the woman who had bumped into me and then left without even saying sorry. Since it was my fault, I don't want her to apologize, but I do hope she helped me.
"Mrs. Holden, wait inside for 20 minutes, and Beatrice, the designer, will be here."
I gave a hesitant nod and walked in as if I were floating. Again, tears came to my eyes, and I asked myself.
'Does my husband know what's going on with me?'
Without thinking, I didn't notice that I had been staring at myself in the mirror for a long time before Beatrice came in. She was with someone who was also at my house earlier.
She called out, "Mrs. Holden! Oh, my! What happened to you?!"
I didn't know what was going on. When she asked, I let out all the feelings I'd been holding back. I gave her a hug, and she rubbed my back.
After I calmed down, I let go of the embrace. She gave me back the Red Blazer they had given me earlier and fix my demeanor, make up and clothes again.
"Thank you so much. I don't know what to do if you didn't come."
They just smiled at me and pushed me to go outside, so I can continue again.
The guards were waiting for me outside when I finally got out. They led me and showed me the way to the hall where the people and Craig were, but I told them I needed to go to Craig's office first.
They showed me right away where it was. I told them to meet me at the door to the hall. And they followed my instructions instantly.
However, I think coming to his office is a mistake because I didn't know it would be much worse than what I had already seen and experience earlier.
If my knees had just been weak before. It seems like my soul has left my body now.
Craig was sitting in the swivel chair while a woman in a dress like mine leaned over him.
I saw the woman look at me from the side, as if she could see me out of the corner of her eye.
I was about to leave when my eyes were suddenly covered. This person shouldn't do that anymore because I could see their full position already.
Funny.
I was about to take my hand off my eyes when the man behind me spoke to Craig and the woman he was with.
"You two, you can do that later. It's almost time for the event to start."
My knee was only getting weaker. It felt like the knife in my chest was getting deeper.
He turned me away from the two people I had seen kissing earlier while his hand was still on my eyes.
"Thea!" Someone grabbed my hand as I was walking away.
I stopped and took the hand off my eye and the hands off my arm. I removed it like I am disgusted by it and turned to face its owner.
Even though I have mist in my eyes, I confronted him with my cold voice, "The event is about to start."
I looked at the woman behind her and added, "You have the best spot today. When it's over, you can go back to what you both were doing."
I step up and left the room.
When we finally ran away, my legs gave out. Luckily, the man who had helped me earlier caught me and gripped my waist. Even though he has a military cut and a thick beard, he doesn't look dirty. He has brown eyes and his lips are pierced.
"Thanks for saving my face earlier," I said with a laugh, "Maybe if you weren't there, I would look like some cat who needs a pity."
"Nothing to be grateful for. It's just a chance thing. The event was about to start, so I was going to Craig's office to pick him up."
I immediately turned my head to him. “What is your connection to Craig? You can’t be an employee here because of the way you look.”
He chuckled, “Why? Why do I look?”
He obstructed my path and adjusted his red suit tuxedo and black tie as if he was waiting for my opinion. I slapped his arm and giggled.
I didn't answer but I laughed for a few more seconds before stopping. I smiled at him because he took away the heaviness I was feeling.
We walked again, and when we got to the hall, I asked him. “How do I address you?”
“My name is Rayleigh Holden."
