Chapter 14
Thea's Point of View
Today will be the "Coalesce Nova Corp. and Arizona Group."
I haven't been to the office in a week. I didn't ask Craig about his fight with Mason because I thought he would be willing to talk to me about it. However, it's been a week and I still don't know why he did it.
Even though it was only 6 a.m., the lobby was already pretty loud. There were a few people who did make-up and made suits.
Just now, I got out of the tub. Craig got up early because he was going to be the highlight of the event. I walked out of the room in a bathrobe and saw the make-up artist fixing Craig's gray suit. It has a tiepin and a pocket square to finish off his look.
He now has an executive haircut called a "comb over taper fade,". He has also kept his short, well-groomed beard since we got married.
"Good morning, Mrs. Holden." The call came from a woman in black with curly hair.
As she greeted me, she displayed her smile too. While Craig stayed standing and didn't look at me, the others who were with him all sat down.
I went downstairs right away and saw that the mannequin was wearing a gray glitter tube, white mother-of-the-bride pants, and a white blazer.
That is so cool! People will think you are powerful and elegant if they see you wearing that.
A woman came up to me. I think she is a designer.
"If you don't like it, Mrs. Holden, we have a red double-breasted V-neck blazer suit ready for you." When she opened a black bag, I saw the clothes she was talking about. Compared to the other outfit, the one on the mannequin looks much more beautiful and elegant.
I would choose the first choice because I want to be as elegant as Craig. Perhaps, his mother will also like me. Even though I know I shouldn't, it bothers me that his mother doesn't like me. I don't know if his father feels the same way.
"It's okay. Thank you—"
“No. I like the first one—"
Since Craig and I both spoke at the same time, we didn't finish what we were going to say. He didn't let me catch a glimpse of him while he was talking to the person he was talking to.
"Now it's fine. Thanks." He went the other way and called the driver.
"Craig."
When I called his name, he continued to step away. But it didn't stop me to call him again.
"Craig!"
He looked back at me with confused eyes. Since he and Mason had a fight, he hasn't talked to me much. I thought it was because it still made him mad, but in the days that followed, I saw that he didn't treat me the same. He also didn't sleep in the same room as me.
He didn't answer, so I gave him a sour smile. "Nothing... Have a good time and goodluck."
I don't think he heard what I said because he left right after I said it.
After getting ready, I had to wait for the driver for another two hours. I told Craig I needed to hire another driver, but he said I didn't need to because I don't leave or come out of the house very often.
I got in the car, and we drove to Craig's place of business, where the event would be held.
After a few minutes, we got there, and there were a lot of people. I looked at Craig's company building. It's not just twice as big as ours, but maybe even three times as big.
When Craig let me look into my parents' business, I learned that they sell materials for building. Craig's family, on the other hand, is in the construction business.
I don't know if it's a coincidence or not that what our company sells fits perfectly with what Craig's business needs.
As I walked into the building, four guards surrounded me to keep anything bad from happening. Many paparazzi take photographs.
Craig didn't even invite me to join him, he didn't care if I was wearing heels and could get into an accident. I put on a nice smile and acted like nothing had happened. No one knew how much I swore at him in my heart.
As I walked down the hall, I saw a woman a few steps ahead of me.
She stood among the paparazzi, but it was clear that she wasn't one of them. I couldn't see her face, but I thought I had seen her back before. I couldn't take my eyes off of her for some reason I can't explain.
She was wearing the same outfit as I was. That was the exact same thing, and there was no difference. Even the layers in my brown hair were the same.
Well, I wasn't on the red carpet, but I didn't want my outfit to clash with the one of the women standing next to me.
I was trying to ignore the woman when Craig walked up the stairs and joined me on my way to the elevator. Great, after ignoring me all morning, he finally gave in to his guilt.
While I was waiting for him to hold my hand and help me into the elevator, I didn't expect what he would do next.
He grabbed that woman by the waist and pulled her in. He then shut the elevator door.
W-wait! I am his wife. Why did he hold her?
I was dumbfounded for a few seconds before I realized what was going on. Before I pushed the button to open it again, the elevator was already going up.
Am I a stranger?! I am his wife!
I had to take the next one because I was upset and angry. When it came, I ran into the elevator and pushed the button to close it.
The guards ran after me, but I pushed the button for it to close.
When I walked out, the first thing I saw was people carrying coffee down the hall.
In my hurry, I ran into a woman who spilled coffee all over me by accident. Coffee got all over my hair and ran down my cheeks. As soon as it happened, a brown stain spread across my dress. I don't need a mirror, and I could tell that my delicate makeup was a mess.
Could the situation get any worse?
