I miss you

WHEN Nicole was sent to the operating room, Tony called Kanor. Earlier, when he came out of the building, he noticed that she seemed anxious. He couldn't help but look around when he saw her looking around. He was just as surprised at the sudden appearance of the motorcycle lurking behind a car. Fortunately, he was there, if he was not, Nicole might have been dead already.

Tony couldn't see the culprit's face because he was wearing a helmet. The motorcycle’s license plate was also blurry.

Kanor almost had a heart attack because he was too worried about Nicole. He instructed the maid to watch over Sean and not to let him know what happened to his mother.

When Steven arrived at the hospital, he went outside the operating room. Tony was out there and the other one who was one of the guards in his company.

"How is she? Steven asked Tony.

"The doctor checking on her hasn't come out yet, Sir."

Steven sighed to ease the weight in his chest. He blamed himself for why this happened to Nicole. If only he hadn’t let her work until that late.

"I already called her father and he's coming here." Tony said.

Steven wondered how Tony came into contact with the woman’s family. But he just put that thought aside. His attention was on the woman when the door of the operating room opened.

"Are you the patient's relative?"

"How is she, Doc?" Steven approached the doctor quickly.

"We removed the bullet that went into her shoulder. But she still remained asleep and it looks like this incident had a big impact on her. So, I suggest that you stay by her side, especially when she wakes up."

"I will, Doc, and thank you so much!" Steven almost hugged the doctor in delight.

Tony secretly smiled when he saw that his boss was very worried about Nicole. It was as if he had just gone back in time earlier when he lifted Nicole's unconscious body. He didn't know why, but he was always nearby when her life was in danger.

As instructed by the doctor, Steven did not leave Nicole's side when she was transferred to a private room. Even though she was asleep, she looked really scared, he felt even more conscience and pity for her. The nurse mistook him as the patient's boyfriend, but he did not go out of his way to correct that.

Kanor arrived and Nicole was still asleep. He thanked Tony for saving Nicole’s life again. He just ignored Steven's hand holding her hand.

"I don't know who did that. I don't know if my daughter is in a bad term with anyone."

"Don't worry, I already told my men to find the criminal." Steven reassured him.

"Thank you! May I leave her to you first? I have to go to the precinct to give a statement about what happened to her." Kanor said to the young man.

"Don't worry and I'll take care of her. I'll let Tony go with you to ensure your safety as well."

Kanor did object to Steven's wishes. He has an idea who did it, but he still doesn't have enough evidence.

Just a few minutes after Kanor left, Nicole's eyelids moved while one of her fingers twitched.

"No… Please don't kill me…!" Nicole whispered deliriously and kept her eyes closed.

"Shh, don't be afraid, I'm here and I won't let anyone hurt you." He caressed her cheek to make her feel his presence.

The nightmare of the past visited Nicole’s dream again. She felt weaker and weaker with time and there is a force pulling on her strength. She wanted to open her eyes, but she could not. In her vision, she sees a person carrying her child.

Steven quickly pressed the emergency button when the woman still didn't want to wake up and she was moaning. Her hand that he was holding was gripping his hand tightly, as if she's terrified.

"What happened to her?" Steven asked the doctor worriedly.

"She's still shocked and it looks like she’s fearing something from the past." The doctor explained to him after calming down the patient.

A few more hours passed before she woke up. Nicole opened her eyes weakly. When she remembered what had happened to her earlier, she trembled again with fear.

"Shh, you're safe! Please calm down!" He kissed the woman on the forehead and held her hand tightly.

"Ste-Steven?" She tearfully called his name when she recognized him.

"Yes, it's me."

It was as if something warm touched Nicole's heart when the young man's face showed so much concern for her. Even as the doctor examined her eyes, he did not let go of her hand.

"She's fine now, it's good for her that you don't leave her side." Smiling, the doctor said goodbye to Steven.

After the doctor left, Steven went back to sit next to Nicole. He gently gave her a kiss on the forehead again.

"Thank you!" she was like a flickering light on a candle because of his tender kiss on her forehead.

"Do you know who did this to you?"

Nicole shook her head in response to the young man. "I don't know why they wanted to kill me."

Steven felt that she was scared again, so he hugged her. But he was careful not to hurt her wounded shoulder.

"Don't worry and I'll do everything to catch them."

Nicole felt content in the young man's embrace. She just let him, particularly when he kissed her lips. She liked what he was doing, especially the feeling that he was afraid of losing her forever in his life.

Steven called his grandmother and let her know what had happened. He also asked for the maid to bring him clothes there because he would not go home.

Danica wanted to scream in anger when she heard what happened. Nicole is alive, add that Steven is taking care of her in the hospital.

"Impossible! You won't succeed in snatching Steven from me!" Danica spoke to herself, her eyes full of madness.

Danica got up again from sitting on the bed. She grabbed her own hair and tugged at it while thinking. She knew Brando would never have a chance to get close to Nicole again. And besides, it might be obvious that someone really wanted to kill her if she attempted to do it again. She had to think of another way. She called Steven, but he was not even worried that she might be jealous.

"You don't have to worry about me. I need to ensure Nicole's safety because I'm responsible for her."

Steven spoke in a whisper because he didn't want Nicole to hear that he was talking to Danica. She couldn't stop him when he ended the call.

Nicole secretly smiled when Steven answered the call on his phone. She just pretended to be asleep and she knew it was Danica who called. She knew that woman was the one behind this. She needs to be extra careful now and she will use Steven to protect her. This is also her chance to get the young man's full attention. She will further snatch the young man from her.

Nicole moved and pretended to be hurt. Steven immediately approached her.

"I'm scared," she whispered moaning to Steven.

"I'm here, no one can hurt you as long as I'm by your side." Steven said seriously, but his face became soft as he looked at Nicole.

"Please, don't leave me. I'm afraid they will come back, I don't want to die yet!" She grabbed his arm and her face looked really scared.

"I'm just here, I'm not leaving, so calm down." He caressed her cheek.

"Promise me, when I wake up, you'll still be there." She begged him like a child. She was also drowsy from the medicine that had been injected into her.

Steven's forehead furrowed slightly before nodding at the woman. He kissed her on the lips again to calm her down.

Nicole's heart felt happy even though she was in pain. When their lips came into contact, she did not want his lips to only touch hers.

He groaned when he deepened their kiss. He never tires of kissing her. If they weren't in the hospital, he wouldn't be able to give her just a kiss because the fire inside him spread quickly through his body.

"We have to stop before I lose control. You also need to sleep." Steven's voice was hoarse between their kiss. He did not keep his face away from her when he let go of her lips.

"I missed you!" Nicole couldn't help but admit her true feelings to the young man. He had avoided her for almost a week and she had not seen him.

His eyes widened at the woman and he was irritated with himself again. Because of his decision, she was put in danger. Perhaps if he hadn’t left her alone, they would not have had a chance to try to kill her.

"I'm sorry if I was a jerk these days."

Nicole smiled at him and somehow lost her fear because of him. His apology was enough for her. Even without sweet words or a relationship between them, she was sure that he is slowly letting her into his heart.

Steven also smiled when he saw a smile on Nicole’s lips while she was sleeping. But that was quickly erased when he glanced at the window and saw his own reflection there. It felt weird to see himself smiling without knowing the reason why.

When he was sure she was asleep, he let go of her hand. He suddenly felt tired, so he moved to sit on a long sofa that was just there in the room. He stretched his arms and legs to relieve tiredness.

Kanor smiled when he saw the scene in Nicole's room. There were also two men outside the room and they were Steven's staff to ensure her safety. He did not disturb the two. He entrusted Nicole to him. He had to go home, Sean might worry because he wasn't there yet, as well as his mother.
