Chapter 56: It Begins

“Come quickly!” I hear someone yell before I even get a chance to close my eyes for the night.

Climbing out of bed, I hurry to put my clothes back on after briefly staring at my blood-stained hands.

Tonight, has been a bad night already. Now what?

As I open the door that faces the stairs, I scan the area before walking out and shutting the door behind me. The commotion seems to be stemming from downstairs, so I rush down the stairs to find Alpha Emery and Alpha Frederic duking it out. Not knowing what the issue is at hand, I stand back and ask, “What is going on?” To Omega Theodore who is standing directly next to me and watching them.

He turns to face me and replies, “Alpha Frederic has raped Alpha Emery’s mate and now they are in a fight to see who she will stay with. Alpha Emery has said that now that Alpha Frederic has had her, he won’t ever touch her again, but it doesn’t mean he won’t keep her.” With disgust on his face.

When he returns his attention to the fight, I notice everyone else that has gathered around them. As I stand there, I realize that I can’t let this happen. If I don’t stop it now, I won’t be able to tell anyone else to stop their fighting later. After all, a king who doesn’t apply the rules to all, will not have a kingdom for long, because no one will respect him.

“Stop!” I exclaim before walking in between the two of them and shoving them backwards.

I declare at the top of my lungs, “We all know the rules. It is time you all decide to follow them. If you cannot, I will be forced to banish you.”

Everyone stops what they were doing and stares at me, before Alpha Frederic cries out, “You aren’t my king, you never were.” His face filled with contempt for me, and I simply cannot put up with it.

“Then leave now, or I will be forced to imprison you!” I yell at the top of my lungs before shoving him again after he advances on my position. He raises his claws into the air just above my head and then he swears, “Fuck you!” Before trying to gauge my eyes out.

In one fatal move, I dodge his claws by leaning forward and ripping out his throat, while he leaves it open for attack. Blood sprays across my face, and it leaves a coppery taste in my mouth when I open it for only a second. The crowd slowly disperses as the conflict has been resolved. Alpha Emery stares at me in horror and then asks, “My king, are you alright? Lately, you have been more and more aggressive.” With a furrowed brow and a frown on his face.

Hesitating, I decide how to answer this before saying, “Yes, I am O.K., but there has been too much blood shed in these castle walls as of late. No one seems to be following the rules and that is very troubling indeed.”

He nods in agreement, before patting me on the back and walking off. While I stand there in the middle of the entry way, I ponder a couple of things. “First, of anything that has happened tonight, last week and then before it, why is no one listening anymore?” I mutter under my breath and then shake my head.

I know I am not the same person I was when I met Arabella. She has changed me, but is it for the worst, or is it for the better? Because, now no one listens. They even disregard the simplest of rules or regulations. Am I not their King anymore?

Standing there pondering all of this, I begin to wonder if changing for Arabella means that I am no longer an effective King for everyone else. If that is the case, perhaps I should let someone else take over. After all, she doesn’t even want anything to do with me anymore and I am the pups’ father.

Where did this all go so wrong? Was it Kelly or before that? Did it start when I met Arabella? If that is the case, would she be better off without me? Because I could arrange for her to go back to her parents, that is if she wants that.

Finding a place to sit down, I remember the moment we first met and realize that I couldn’t have changed it. We were meant to be together, and destiny’s hand has been played out. Now, I must man up and deal with the repercussions, because I am the one who messed everything up and no one else.

“Now, how do I win her back?” I mutter while wracking my brain for an answer.

While sitting there on a bench in the corner of the entry way, I see Omega Ian walking by and talking on the phone to someone. I overhear him say, “Baby, I got you something today and you will love it.”

Curious, I stop him after standing up. “Hey, sorry to bother you, but do you mind helping a guy out?”

The look on his face is priceless. It is a cross between bewildered and scared because I am still covered in blood and must look like I am about to kill him. He steps back and then asks, “No?” As if he doesn’t know quite what to say to someone who has just killed someone else.

“I have a problem and I was hoping that I could use your expertise with women to help me out.” I say with a smirk on my face and am just about to start laughing.

After all, this is an absurd situation. Me, drenched in blood and asking him for help with my woman. Shaking my head again, I say, “I seem to have a problem with my mate, and I know you can help me.”

Hearing this, he laughs it off and then states, “Oh, of course.” He sighs and then ends the call before continuing the conversation with me.”

When he puts his phone in his pocket of his jeans, I smile and then wait for him to speak, “Tell me.” He states before waiting for my answer.

“Well, I seemed to have screwed everything up with her. I mated with someone else and now I have told her, but I need to win her back. How do I do it?”

“Hmm. That isn’t too hard. Especially a man in your situation. You are a King, use it to your advantage. If that doesn’t work, then give her tons of gifts like I do. I just bought this 24k gold heart necklace, and I think she will love it. One of the merchants brought it to town and now I am going to present it to her. Hopefully, it has her down on her knees. If you know what I mean?” He winks at me and then smiles a shitty grin before continuing, “If it doesn’t work then grovel a lot. For some women, this is the only way to win them over.” He nods and then states, “I hope this helps, but I really do have to get going. If I don’t get there soon, she may start with out me.” Laughing, he starts to walk past me before turning and laughing again.

I yell to him before he leaves my sight, “Thanks, I will try all of it.”
