Chapter 57: A Gift For Arabella

Figuring out what to get her is proving to be far more difficult than I thought it would be. After a night of rolling around on the couch, I am tired and stumped. What can I get her that will make her eyes pop out? I need something to awe her and that says I love you so much that you are the only woman in the world.

While wracking my brain, Beta Jody walks in and hands me a cup of coffee. “You look like you need it, this morning. How are things going with Ms. Arabella as of late?” She frowns as she says it, because she knows that there is something going on and I won’t say.

I shake my head and then state, “Nothing that is of any concern, I just can’t think of the perfect present. I need something that says, I can only love you and no one else.”

“What did you do?” She asks suddenly when sitting down on the couch next to me.

Her eyes tell it all when a tear forms and then she wipes it away. She has been a good friend for years, but I always stayed away from her, because I have known for the longest time that she loves me and that spells trouble. Specially now when I am not by Arabella’s side and all the women are seeking me out.

Sitting there quietly, I weigh my options. I could tell her, but then everyone in the castle might find out the truth and I don’t need that. If I don’t, then I may lose her as a friend, because she won’t understand how I can’t confide in her about this certain subject matter. Mulling it over in my head, I finally say, “Omega Kelly had walked in here a few weeks ago and approached me knowing full well that I was vulnerable, so she used it against me. In the end, I eventually told Arabella and now I am here, in the doghouse for the moment. Now, I must figure out how to win her back and get her to trust me if she can.”

Sighing, I watch her digest all the information and then she looks up at me and remarks while pointing at me with her index finger, “Well, you should have kept your dick in your pants.” Then she frowns.

“The only way she will ever forgive you, is to prove that you will be loyal to her. Then and only then, she may forgive you, but it isn’t a guarantee. Of course, it won’t hurt if you lavish her with tons of gold things and pretty clothes. All women love gifts, especially pretty ones. Not to mention, she is a human. I have heard that they love their pets. Perhaps, if you got her a puppy?” Her voice trails off while she stares into my eyes.

Wondering what she is thinking, I quickly back up when she tries to kiss me. “Stop it!” I cry out and then stand up and walk over to the window. “What is it with women, when they find out I am mate less for the moment?”

She starts to laugh and then stops before stating, “You know that I have always had a soft spot for you and now that you are showing how much you can care for a woman, it makes me melt inside. I figure if you let Kelly in, why not try me before you get back with Arabella?” The hope in her eyes, lights up her face and then she smirks, before taking a couple steps towards me.

“Stop!” I warn her and then demand, “Get out now.”

As she leaves the room, she lowers her head, but not before I see the hurt in her eyes and the pout on her lips. What in the world is going on with all these women? Before they have always been attracted to me, but now this is ridiculous.

Running my fingers through my hair, I go in the study bathroom and stare into the mirror. “Boy, I look bad today.” I run my hand across my beard before turning around and leaving to go get her something from the jewelers.

When I arrive there, I ask him in a whisper, “I need something befitting a queen and that says I am so sorry that I messed up. Please forgive me?”

Gauging his response, I figure that he knows exactly what I am talking about, because clearly it has been all over the castle. Things like that seem to run rampant in most circles, especially when they don’t have anything better to chat about. A few minutes after he walks in back, he comes back out and produces an exquisite golden necklace with sapphires and rubies in the shape of a rose.

“I will take it.” I say immediately, before he shows me the others.

While wrapping it, I browse the other things he has out in the shop. A little further over, I see something even more perfect, it is a bracelet with charms. They can be engraved with each of the pups’ names on it. I smile and say, add this if you can hurry and engrave them right now.” After collecting their names, he walks in back for a few moments and then comes back out.

“Here you go.” He hands it to me to inspect.

“Perfect. Wrap this up to please.”

“No problem.” He smiles as he says it and wraps them while I stand there in no time.

Once I have my packages and I walk back to the castle, I go upstairs with a smile on my face and wonder if she will except them or decide that I am not worth her time. Hesitating, I finally knock on the door.

“Knock”

She opens the door, after a few seconds with a shocked look on her face when she looks down. “Are those for me?” She asks before a smile creeps onto her lips.

“Yes, by all means open them.” I can’t help but to smile as she accepts them and invites me inside.

Following her to the bed, she sits and then waits for me to do the same. As I do, I notice that she scoots closer and then begins to open them. I stop her and say, “Open this one first. The second package is very special, and nothing compares.”

She nods and then begins to open the necklace. Her eyes light up and then she suddenly hugs me with delight on her face. “Thank you so much!” She exclaims before kissing my cheek.

I help her with in on and then she turns her attention to the second package. Unwrapping it carefully, she finally opens it, and her eyes bug out of her head. The smile that spreads across her face, is the most precious thing I have ever seen in my life, because I know that she will forgive me and she still loves me. When she places it around her wrist, I clasp it for her and she turns to me and says, “I have always loved you, but I can’t forgive you. I’m sorry. Perhaps at some time in the future, but not now. I am so sorry. Thank you though for these presents, they are beautiful.” With sadness in her eyes before gesturing for me to go.

Before I leave the room, I gaze into her eyes one last time and think to myself, “When?” And then I leave the room and shut the door behind me.
