Chapter 45

Stacey’s POV

Eight years later

I watched Nolan and Brianna playing together. They are best friends forever from the moment they started realizing the things around them, and since then, they have been inseparable. I missed Scarlett whenever I looked at them, but somehow I kept my feelings to myself, knowing Scarlett enjoyed her new life a lot. Richard and Dory never miss sending her new videos or photos. And as per them, she was still too bright to even after her powers were locked.

The witch had told us that she could bind her powers forever. Whenever something would happen in her life that would trigger her brain mentally or physically, her spell would be broken. About her memory, until and unless anyone would tell her the truth, it was not going to return, which Dory and Richard had decided to say to her on her 18th birthday.

“Mommy!!” I jerked my head hearing that word and found Vanessa, Adams, and Megan’s, adopted daughter. She was the daughter of their pack’s beta, but this pup lost her parents in that war. So, Adams adopted her as his own, taking inspiration from Derek.

“I’m hungry.”, Vanessa said, running toward Megan.

“Come with me, sweetheart.”, Megan said, picking her into my arms and taking her from there. I smiled, seeing them together, and turned my head toward Nolan and Brianna. I didn’t miss observing how Nolan’s eyes were on Vanessa even though he was playing with Brianna while Brianna had a shy smile on her face.

I had no idea what was cooking between these three kids neither did I want to show any interest in knowing that, but the people around me had already started assuming that when the kids turned eighteen, then Brianna and Nolan would come out to be mate. Still, at the same time, no one noticed that Nolan had a crush on Vanessa, and he treated Brianna like his best friend.

I hope they wouldn’t end up sticking into a love triangle.

“Briiiiiii,” Nolan yelled angrily when Brianna threw a bucket of water at him.

“Come out of your dream, lover boy!” Bri teased.

“I’m going to kill you today.”

That was it. They would again fight with each other, and they couldn’t stay away from each other for long and then ended up reconciling again.

Shaking my head, I walked toward Derek’s office. I didn’t knock on the door, stepped inside directly, and found Derek and Adams laughing at something.

Strange, right?

Well, they were also good friends now!

“What’s so funny?” I asked with a smile.

“Nothing. We were watching the fight between Bri and Nolan.”, Adams said, shaking his head. “These kids. I won’t be surprised if I will hear the news of both killing each other.”, he added.

“Anyway, Derek, see you later!”

“Yeah! Bye.”

“Bye, Stacey!”

“Bye!”, Once he left, I reached closer to my mate and wrapped my arms around his neck. “I see. You two now act like best friends from diapers.”

“It’s nothing like that, but he has changed a lot in all these years.”, Derek said, explaining the change in his behavior toward Adams as if I was not aware of that fact. “To be honest, Adams earned respect from me when he told me that Brianna was not his child.”

FLASHBACK (8 years back)

“Hey, Megan!” I asked Megan when she knocked on the door.

“May I come in.”

“Yeah, sure!” I allowed her and stopped arranging Nolan’s new clothes in the closet. “Is everything all right? Do you need anything?” I asked, wondering if she would be facing any issue or problem in the single room of the packhouse.

“No! No! Everything is fine,” she said, but her facial expression didn’t match the words she had just said. I raised my brow, waiting for her to slip the beans.

“See, if you’re here to share something, then go ahead OR don’t waste my time because I hate when people don’t talk to the point and beat around the bushes unnecessarily.”

“Yeah! Yeah! I’m trying to confess something. Please just calm down because your anger is disturbing me.”

“I’m sorry for making you feel like this. It’s just that I’m missing Scar, and my feelings for her are coming out in the form of anger and frustration.”, I mumbled. After that, I didn’t say anything and gave her as much time as she wanted to confess whatever she wanted.

“I’m sorry for everything that I did in your life.”, She apologized, and I looked at her as if she had gone insane. Why was she picking the topic from the past?

We were over it, weren’t we?

But I pressed my lips tightly, refraining from speaking anything because I wanted to hear her out to lessen the burden on her heart. I meant the same thing happened in the church, right? When anyone confesses their guilt, crime, or anything else to the father through confessional.

“To be honest, I was looking for an idiot to choose as my mate.”, Oops! Did she just say that Adams was that idiot? Okay! Whatever she was going to say looked like it was an exciting secret of something like that.

“And yes, I found that idiot person as Adams, and I wanted to trap him by hook or crook and for that when you and Adams had their reproductively taste. I bribed the doctor to interchange the report.”

“What?” I asked in shock.

“Yes! The truth is that you could not get pregnant all those times when you two were together. It wasn’t because you had some issue in your body but because Adams was Sterile.”

“But Brianna is your pup with Adams, right?” I asked in confusion.

“Umm…well, not actually.”, She mumbled. “I was…The…. hunters gang-raped me, and I didn’t want to kill my pup. So….I planned all things. And when I told Adams that I was pregnant with his pup, he quickly believed it. But the truth was that he could become….”

“....Father.” I completed the sentence that she was going to say. Now, I realize how I became pregnant with Derek’s pup. Not that I was complaining about that part. We had never protected sex because I didn’t let him use condoms as I was pretty sure that I would never be going to be pregnant. I pushed my situation out of my mind because whatever happened to me, I was happy about that part but what happened with Megan was something that no woman deserved.

Then I recalled Adams’s drama at dad’s pack, asking for a second chance and why he badly wanted to leave Megan.

“The fight… that happened between you two was related to this?” I asked to confirm my doubt, to which she nodded her head.

“Even at that moment, you helped indirectly by saving my marriage. I mean, yeah! It all began with a trap, but I didn’t realize myself falling for him, and when he figured out the truth, I was positive that everything was ruined, but the pep talk you did with him helped a lot in a good way.”

“So, he is treating you right?” I asked, not knowing how Adams used to behave with her after knowing everything. Of course, he would have felt cheated, but that was the karma that hit him with a bang.

“In the beginning, NO. But somehow, Bri managed to make a place in his heart along with time. She is an extraordinary kid.”

“No doubt in that. Daughters are too special, and you’re lucky to have one.”

“No! I’m not talking about that part!” Megan said, shaking her head. “What I’m talking about is that Bri is different and what happened with Scar, I’m scared that something like that may happen with Bri too.”

“You mean to say that Bri is also dhampir?”

“No. Bri is half-blood. Unlike werewolf pups, she didn’t take birth in three months, nor like humans, she took birth in nine months. She came into the world after six months. That’s why I get a chance to plan many things in the starting three months.”

I gulped my saliva in tension, hearing that recalling half-blood or half-were were more like a beast without a brain. Like I had Alicia, who knew what was right and wrong, but they were cursed with a wolf who was nothing but a wild animal.

“I know every pack kills pups like her, but….” Tears started brimming in her eyes.

“To be honest, after learning this, I’m scared too. Please don’t mind my words; raising a beast without a brain sounds scary. Half-bloods had the power to turn someone else into a mindless beast withering by biting or injuring others, just like vampires. Not to forget, they have a weakness that we don’t have, i.e., the Lunar Cycle (When there is a full moon in the sky at night, half-bloods are driven to transform into their wolf-form for the entire duration of the full moon.).”

“So, you and Derek will kill….”

“It will be too fast to say YES. We will observe Bri before taking any decision. Because, unlike Scar, we can leave in the human world because either she would end up killing OR creating a race of werewolves like her because no spell would work on her on the full moon night.”

“Thank you, Stacey. You’re a gem, and I’m sorry for what I did with you.”

“It’s fine. I have said this multiple times and will say numerous times more that I’m glad that I had to suffer from all those things because having Derek in my life is worth everything. EVERYTHING.”

“So, Why is my Luna here? Does she want something?”, He asked in a teasing tone.

I smacked his chest, pulled myself away from him, and walked toward his chair, sitting on it crossing my legs with one another before speaking, “Yes, please. As usual Black coffee.”

“Sure!”, With a sly smile on his lips, I saw his mind linking Shailey.

“Grab a seat, Derek.”, I said, signaling him to sit on the chair in front of me. “I need to ask a huge favor?”,

“A huge favor? What kind of favor?”

“You always accompany me wherever I go, don’t you?”

“Yes, Luna. Because that’s my duty. I can’t leave my mate alone knowing that she is still hot and sexy even at this age.”, He smirked.

“Don’t spoil our moments, Derek.”, I whined.

“What? I’m just telling the truth.”, he said calmly.

“I need you to pretend as my love interest.”

“I doubt that I can’t do that.”, he said in a severe tone.

“What? Why?”

“Because I don’t know how to pretend when I’m already in love with my luna.”, he winked. And at the same time, Shailey knocked on the door.

“Come in.”

“Good Morning, Luna. Good Morning Alpha.”, She greeted and placed my black coffee near Derek. Bowing her head a little, she left the cabin. Once she left, Derek took that coffee in his hand and reached near me.

“To my Luna.”, he mumbled, keeping it by my side. I pulled him on the chair, and he landed on the top of me. I slammed my lips against him in no time. Thankfully, the chair was big enough for both of us to adjust, and soon he changed the position lifting me into his arms.

“I love you, Luna,” he mumbled, breaking the kiss.

“I love you too, Alpha.” I grinned before snuggling into him, and he held me close. I had never felt this content in my entire life. I lay in his arm, smiling and wondering how I got this lucky?
