Chapter 44: The call
Cassandra woke up because of the sunlight streaming in through the window. He rubbed his eyes before rolling his eyes, and then he noticed Edward was no longer beside him. "He's an early bird. Where did he go?" she wondered as she got out of bed.
As she touched her femininity, she moaned, "Ouch f*ck." "He's really going to make our honeymoon the best," she said, smiling as she remembered how her husband made love to her every night.
When Edward's phone rang next to her, she shuddered in her imagination. "It's an unregistered number; who could it be?" Cassandra was still hesitant about whether she would answer it or not. Her husband might get angry if she tampers with his cellphone. "But what if this call came from the mansion? What if Akia calls us? I really miss my daughter. "
"Just let me answer it," she said, answering the phone at the same time.
"Hello, Edward? Where are you now? I have been waiting for you in *****." She didn't finish what the woman said because she was nervous, and she immediately asked her who she was, but the woman abruptly hung up the phone. She was irritated and curious as to why a woman was calling her husband, causing her to overthink. So she tried to call her, but the phone was already unattended. As she began to doubt him, the fear on his face did not fade. But she knew Edward loved her and she was confident that he would never jeopardize their relationship.
"Perhaps I should just wait for Edward and ask him about it," she said, trying to calm herself down since she didn't want to doubt her husband as long as she could calm her mind. She had full trust in him.
Cassandra quickly dispelled the doubts that were forming in her mind. "We're on our honeymoon now, and I'm not going to ruin it because of that call, even though I'm not sure what it was all about. F*ck, I'd better just take a bath to refresh my mind," she told herself as she went to the bathroom.
~
She immediately dressed and groomed herself after taking a bath. She also finished her breakfast, but Edward was still not there, so she called him again, but she couldn't reach him. To calm herself, she simply assumed that he had taken care of something important.
Cassandra had been lying in bed for a few moments when the doorbell rang. She jumped to her feet and quickly opened the door, thinking it was her husband, but it turned out to be one of the hotel's employees. "Hello, ma'am. I apologize for the inconvenience, but your husband wishes to present you with this bouquet," the woman said as she smiled at Cassandra.
Cassandra flushed when she learned it was from her husband. "It's all right, thank you," she said, smiling at the woman. "All right, Ma'am, I need to go now," the woman said as Cassandra replied with a simple nod before she closed the door.
She then eagerly read the card hidden beneath the bouquet.
"Hello, my lovely wife. I need to go because something important came up with my business partner while he was in New York, and he wants to talk to me for a bit. I hope it's okay with you. I love you so much, sweetie. "
Cassandra flushed as she read his letter. Then, suddenly, she had an epiphany. "This is what I mean. He really loves me that much, and there's no point in doubting him just because of that call. I think it's time for me to do something. Let's make this honeymoon more special," she said to herself as she smirked, thinking about what her plan was. She wants to surprise her husband with a dinner date.
~
Cassandra finished preparing for their dinner date at eight o'clock in the evening. She even decorated the bed with rose petals to make it more appealing for their later sex fantasies. After that, she put on her new lingerie, applied red lipstick to her soft lips, and looked in the mirror again. She just smiled when she saw herself in the mirror, wondering what would happen if Edward saw her wearing sexy lingerie, as she was so sure he would love it.
Cassandra observed herself in the mirror for a few moments before taking her cellphone from the bed and calling Edward to confirm if he was on his way home to the hotel where they were staying, but she was utterly shocked because she couldn't reach him. His phone was unattended, so she decided to leave a message for him, but she never received a response from him. "It's already 8:30 p.m., but why is he still not here?" she wondered as she checked the time on her cellphone with a worried expression on her face when her phone rang. She answered the phone, assuming it was her husband who had called.
"Hello?" she said, but it was a woman's voice, so she looked at her phone to see who had called her. It was her best friend, Ava. "Hello? Cassandra???? Why aren't you answering?" her friend on the other line inquired. "H-Hello?"
"Oh, why does your voice sound so disappointed? Did you fight with your husband? " Ava inquired, concerned. "Are you insane? Of course not. Why should we fight when it's our special vacation? It's our honeymoon, my dear best friend," she said to her friend.
"Are you sure you don't really quarrel with your husband?" Ava inquired once more.
"Wait, why do you seem surprised? Did you overhear any gossip there?" she inquired.
"Please don't be angry, Cassandra; I just wanted you to know what I saw earlier: I saw your husband here recently with a woman at the hotel in *****," her friend said, and she became nervous. She wasn't sure if it was true or if her friend was playing a joke on her. "Ava, that's not a good joke; how can you see him when you're in the Philippines and we're in New York; don't make fun of me like that; remember what happened to my first ex; it was almost the same thing," she frowned.
"Best friend, I'm not in the Philippines. Are you the only one who has the right to vacation in New York City?" Ava asked seriously over the phone.
Then she realized what her friend was saying could be true; she knew her friend well, and she wouldn't just say that if she didn't have evidence or a witness to back it up. "Are you still at the hotel?" she inquired, her voice trembling. "Yeah, and you should come here to see if I was telling you the truth --" "Okay fine, don't leave. I'll see you now too. I'll just need to get dressed first," she said as she hung up the phone.
