Chapter 61: Trap
"H-hello, Anthony, I agree to take me in exchange for my son; let Eddie go, and I'll be yours," she said, her voice shaking.
"Why should I hand over our son?" Anthony wondered. "Are you insane? Eddie is not your son; Edward is his real father! Not you!" she exclaimed.
"Yeah, I know," he chuckled, "but I'm the one he recognizes as his father."
"So, what are you going to do? Are you going to free my son or are you not going to get me?" she swallowed hard, hoping she could trick him into falling into her trap.
"All right, I'll release Eddie in your place; just don't fool me around, and don't bring the cops or anyone, including Edward. I'm going to call you later about where we are going to meet," Anthony said before hanging up the phone.
Cassandra's mind was racing with ideas about what Anthony wanted. "What should I do? I don't trust that guy, but I know he's not going down unless he gets what he wants. Maybe I should tell Edward. Anthony threatened me with my son's life, and I can't let that happen," she thought to herself.
Cassandra was terrified after their conversation. She wasn't sure Anthony would follow through on their conversation. She had no choice but to save her son from the clutches of that insane man.
She's currently sitting alone in the living room, holding a cup of now-cold coffee. Edward left early today, claiming to have a lot of work to do.
Her head was about to explode with all of her thoughts, she was so worried about his son's safety.
She exhaled after taking a deep breath. "That's it, I'm going to tell Edward everything Anthony said since I don't want to lie to my husband," she told herself as she stood up and walked to their room.
She grabbed her phone and set it on the coffee table, but before she could dial Edward's number, an unknown caller id appeared on the screen.
"I think I know who this is," she said, ignoring it. She didn't want to answer his call, but it rang for another thirty seconds before he called again.
She answered his call and held the phone to her ear, irritated. "How are you, honey?" he asks.
asked. "Why are you calling me?" she demanded angrily.
"How rude, my dear," he said, and she rolled her eyes.
her gaze "What do you want, Anthony?" she inquired, and he laughed.
"Oh my dear, did you forget what we agreed on earlier? You don't want your son in danger, do you?" he asked. "I'll meet you at seven. Be ready," he said and hung up before she could respond.
Her phone rang. When she opened the message, it was some kind of location.
"Please meet me here, and please don't be late or come alone."
Her phone rang once more. "And one more thing, my dear, no games, or the outcome will be worse than you can imagine."
Cassandra sat down and threw her phone on the bed. She was screwed.
She would have to do whatever he says regardless. She knows how evil Anthony is and that if she does not obey him, he will harm her son.
"I have to go. I'll do it... for my kids and Edward. Let's get this over with once and for all," she told herself as she stood up and opened their drawer, removing Edward's gun.
"This is the only option."
~
The time was 6:43 p.m. Edward had not returned. He'd be there any minute now. She needs to hurry. Cassandra then exited the room, concealing the gun in the belt of her jeans and covering it with her shirt.
She exited the house and went to the shed where the cars were kept.
Juan, their chauffeur, approached her.
"Where are we going, Ma'am?" he inquired, smiling. "I'll drive myself, Juan," she said, and his smile faded into a frown. He hesitantly handed her the car keys.
She got into her car and drove away.
~
She was standing in front of a warehouse twenty minutes later. "That's odd; why would he want to meet up at a warehouse?" she thought to herself.
Cassandra pushed the door open slightly. When she walked in, the entire space was filled with metal containers ascending to the roof.
"It's great to see you here, honey," she said as she noticed him. He was holding a glass of wine.
"I'm so glad you made it," he said, faking a smile. Bastard. "Where is my son?" she inquired.
"Please take a seat," he requested. "I'm not here to talk to you; just get to the point and answer me," she said harshly, and he chuckled.
"You are a very brave and smart woman, Honey, and I have no doubts that I will fall in love with you," he smirked.
"Answer me, Anthony, where is my son?" she demanded, irritated by his remarks.
They took a few steps closer to her with this fake smile turned serious. "Don't get too excited, honey; you'll see him soon; for now, my friend here would love to see you," he said evilly.
"That's a cue, Cassandra. Stay focused. He or his friend could attack you at any time," she told herself as she took a deep breath.
She slowly raises her hand to reach for her gun. "You're to leave now," Anthony said.
A dark shadow appeared behind him, slowly approaching them. Cassandra tries to concentrate on the person standing behind him. She exclaimed as she saw her face.
Her hand slipped from her gun, and she was startled to see her in front of her. "Sofie!" she exclaimed quietly. "Hello, b*tch," Sofie said, putting her hand on her waist.
"You? H-How?" She's taken aback, to say the least. She was perplexed that these two had become accomplices. "Long time no see, looks like you've forgotten about me, b*tch," Sofie said quietly.
"What's the matter with you? Why are you both doing this to my family?" she screamed angrily.
"Relax, honey; you don't have to worry; I won't let her hurt you," Anthony assured her.
"Please release my son now," she begged, her tears streaming down her cheeks.
"Oh, I feel sorry for you," Sofie said, rolling her eyes at him.
"Please, Anthony," she begged once more.
"Sorry, b*tch, but we have an agreement; I'm going to play with you first," Sofie laughed.
"Make sure you don't kill her, Sofie, or I'll forget you're my sister," Anthony warned. Cassandra's eyes widened as she realized Sofie and Anthony were siblings.
"Oh, my dear brother, don't worry, I'll just teach her a lesson for stealing my man," Sofie said, looking at Cassandra.
"You know what, we were perfectly fine before you appeared! But Edward suddenly became so cold to me after meeting you and left me because of you!" she snarled. She appears enraged.
"Sofie, I'm sorry. Listen — I don't know what really happened between you and Edward, but please accept the fact that my husband no longer loves you. We don't need to be like this, we can talk about it properly," Cassandra pleaded.
"You're sorry? YOU'RE SORRY?" Sophie yelled angrily at her.
"You listen to me now. I loved him more than you love him with all my heart. I waited for him to come back to me for three years. Every single day I saw him at work thinking that one day, I would prove to him how much I loved him..how much I deserved him. Every f*cking day, Cassandra! But you ruin everything! You suddenly appeared in his life with your bastard daughter! Edward was supposed to be mine!" she said as she approached him slowly.
Cassandra was terrified of her. She takes a step back, but she grabs her hair and pulls her closer to her. "Sofie! W-wrong what's with you? Stop this now, please," she pleaded, attempting to wiggle free from her grip.
"What's wrong with me? You wanna know what's wrong with me Cassandra!?" She said chuckling darkly. "Oh my God, he's acting like a psycho," she thought to herself.
"You! You've ruined me, Cassandra. Your husband made me like this. And now I promise that I'll ruin you. I won't let you both be happy. I'm going to make sure you burn with me and that husband of yours." Sofia smirked.
Cassandra tried to pray her off of her, but Sofie threw her to the floor. She winced as her back landed on the ground.
Sofie hovers over her and begins to examine her before she can move.
"You're going to end up like me, I'll make sure of it, bitch!" Sofie declares. "Remember our agreement, Sofie, you know we still want her alive if you want Edward to be yours again, let go of her," Anthony demanded, and Sofie let go of Cassandra as she moved away, coughing. She could feel tears streaming down her cheeks.
"F*ck, these two psychos, who do they think they are!" Cassandra says as she pulls her gun. "Release my son now! Where is he?!?" she yelled, pointing the gun at them.
"Oh, Honey, I'm impressed," Anthony smirked.
Cassandra rose to her feet, her gun still aimed at them. "Go on, Shoot me!" Anthony said praying close to her.
Cassandra tried to pull the trigger but her hands kept shaking uncontrollably, indicating that she had never shot before.
Sofia smirked, "You don't have the guts to..." She ate her and straddled her, knocking her to the ground in the blink of an eye. She attempted to kick and punch Sofie but failed each time.
Sofia was hit in the head with the back of the gun, causing pain to shoot through her head and everything went black.
