Pinky promise
The car had stopped right in front of the house. Arthur didn't move immediately, he looked at Livy who was sleeping and stared at the girl silently. Then he slowly unbuckled the seatbelt, making the slender hands that were hugging his arms loosen and the sleeping person writhed uncomfortably.
After the driver got down to open the door, Arthur initially thought about supporting her, but ultimately decided to carry her instead.
Arthur held Livy's knees and back firmly, his movements steady. He walked towards the door, with light steps. When the driver said he wanted to help him, he ignored him.
"Prepare warm water and towels." Arthur said to the first maid he met.
In the room, he put Livy on her bed. Just as he was about to leave, a hand tugged at the hem of his jacket gently.
Livy looked at him with sad eyes. "Don't go ... you must want to leave. You must want to leave me, right? Strange, this is strange. We should sleep together, right?"
"..."
Her lips pouted as she received no response. Her head felt heavy and dizzy, but she straightened it and tried to sit up. "I already confessed my love ... where's my answer? Hmmm? Tell me the answer for me."
"I'm not leaving."
Her gaze narrowed. "Is that the answer?"
Arthur's hand held Livy's head which almost fell backwards. At this moment he knew for a fact that she who was heavily drunk felt extremely dizzy. "Go to sleep first. I will give you an answer tomorrow."
"Promise?"
"..."
"Heyyy, promise first ........." Livy put out her pinky finger. "Promise! You must promise!"
Because Arthur didn't respond, Livy linked her little finger with his own. Then move the two linked fingers up and down.
"Little finger promise. If you lie, you have to swallow a thousand needles and cut your finger."
Livy was satisfied. Then chuckled.
Then her head fell forward suddenly. Arthur immediately caught her head, but before he could, she raised her head first. She looked at him with a probing gaze, her lips pursed playfully and looking sleepy.
"A thousand needles is too terrible, don't lie, ok ........................"
As she remained silent, Arthur thought she was asleep again, but then he heard soft sobs.
"I ... sob ... I don't want to be lied to. I feel hurt. You have a lover, don't you? But why don't you be honest? Between me and her ............ who is better , hm? Just pick me, ok."
Arthur ignored her ramblings completely.
Instead, he thought about whether she would remember all of this when she came to her senses. Not everything a drunk person says is a lie, there are times when it really comes from their heart. Hearing her say she liked him, his heart was in trouble.
They are in a contract marriage, they have a written agreement.
One is not to fall in love with each other.
It was only been a few months. Too soon for Livy to like him. What about him made him likeable? He's just a disabled man. He had completely brought her here only to protect her from suffering.
Never even crossed his mind to fall in love.
Arthur clicked his tongue. Livy didn't mumble and move anymore, but she hugged him tightly as if she was hanging on to her life. Slowly, he took off the thick jacket that wrapped around Livy's body, it must have made her hot because she was sweating.
At the same time, the maid came in with water and towels.
Arthur used a towel wrung out in warm water to rub Livy's skin. The girl moved because of the warm sensation.
"Hotttt ..." Livy pulled her clothes until her belly was showing.
Arthur closed it again and rubbed Livy's neck nonchalantly. Livy pulled her shirt back at that, and Arthur closed it again. It went on several times.
"Shut up and obey." Arthur held her hand.
"Hot." Livy's eyes opened sadly.
"Be patient a second."
Arthur did it faster. The air conditioner ran cold. If she felt hot, it must be the effects of the alcohol. Leaving her undressed will only make her catch a cold.
After he finished wiping it all off, he looked at her and she was also looking at him at that time.
"You sleep, it's done."
Livy shook her head vigorously.
Drunk people often act childishly, Arthur cleared his throat. "Why?"
"You will sleep with me, right?"
"No."
"But we're married ..." Livy said sadly.
Arthur sighed.
"I want to sleep alone with you. You can't be mean to someone who likes you ........."
"I will go."
Arthur was about to stand up, but his shoulders were tightly hugged, because he was off guard, he just fell and Livy was on top of him. Livy sat on his stomach contentedly. There was a faint trace of sadness, only it was covered up by her goofy expression.
Livy's fingers crept up to Arthur's jacket collar, tugging it. "You don't like me. Yeaaaa ... I know, I know."
While continuing to tug at his collar, Livy's head moved forward, her other hand stroking his cheek, not caring that the person beneath her remained unresponsive.
"If you don't like me, you will definitely leave me. I don't want to go back to that house."
After quite a while Arthur replied, "I'm not going to make you go back there."
"Is that true?"
Arthur took a blanket and spread it over her shoulders. "Yes. I brought you here to protect you from them," he answered honestly.
Arthur deliberately answered this, once Livy came to her senses, she would definitely forget. So he was willing to bet.
"They are so evil." Livy was gloomy.
"I know everything. I will protect you from them. Do you believe it?" Arthur rubbed Livy's head gently.
Currently the room was lit by a lamp on the ceiling. Arthur's vision is poor at night. With Livy covering the light of the lamp, he could barely see her expression. Even though she was smiling happily.
She dropped her body onto his chest, hugging him tightly. "I believe if you sleep with me tonight."
His brows furrowed.
"Just sleep, hug me, accompany me ..."
Hearing Livy speak weakly like this, Arthur didn't know if she was sober or still with the effects of her drunkenness. He hesitantly rubbed the back that was above him, he did a few circular strokes.
The breath of the person above him was very regular. Her heartbeat pinged lightly, tapping his chest.
"Livy?" he called.
No response.
Arthur tilted his head with difficulty, trying to see Livy's face and felt her eyes closing. The girl was really sleeping this time. Just as he was about to get up, she moved, she revealed a groan of disapproval and hugged him even tighter.
Arthur laughed in his heart, struggling no more.
In the end he allowed this position and closed his eyes to sleep too. He was done a lot of things all day, he was tired and his body was protesting. At least he'd get some sleep, and he'd be up before Livy the next morning.
***
The next morning, when Livy woke up, she felt an intense wave of dizziness and nausea. She moved her hand to get up, but felt something heavy press against her and became irritated.
Livy opened her weary eyes. Pushed against anything near it in annoyance, but it was springy and warm.
Wait!
Her eyes opened completely. She realized she was on top of someone's body, in an unnatural hugging position and that person was Arthur. She pulled away in shock and her sudden movement woke the other party up as well.
Arthur rubbed his eyes sleepily. As soon as he came to his senses, he found Livy in front of him and was shocked too.
"You ... you ... how did you get in my room?" Livy crossed her arms over her chest. Her face blushed.
Arthur winced at being stared at as if he was a pervert. He was dissatisfied. But no one could see the dissatisfaction.
"If you're awake, that's great. I'm going out now."
Arthur massaged the nape of his neck which was sore from sleeping in the same position all night and immediately stood up. But before he could take a step, he fell to his knees again.
"Y-You okay?" Livy asked.
"Just standing up too fast." Arthur held his head.
"What ... what exactly happened?" Livy looked around. "Why did I come back to this room? I ... last night ... I ..."
She remembered she had gone to a hotpot restaurant to eat with Dave. The man asked her for a drink and she agreed, she probably had two or three drinks until she couldn't remember anything else.
Is she drunk?
As she looked ahead again, Arthur coldly glared at her.
"Next time, no alcohol for you," he said, as cold as his face.
Turned out she was really drunk?
Livy lowered her head. "Sorry."
Arthur made no comment and stood back up. Livy held him back. "Wait a minute. I don't know what's going on. So I'm really drunk, right? Did I do something unreasonable?"
"You don't remember?" Arthur asked back.
Livy shook her head.
"It's better not to remember. It's still dark, sleep a little longer, and I'll take you to the university."
"Mn."
It was still five in the morning—not a good time to sleep again.
But Livy did not dare to argue.
Right after Arthur came out of her room, Livy immediately plopped down on the bed again, covering herself with the blanket. Her face was red and she was embarrassed.
What? What on earth happened?
She slept in Arthur's arms all night! How can she calm down? What did she do last night? Judging by his reaction, it was already confirmed that she was really drunk and doing something unreasonable. But what is it? What did she do?
In her entire life, she had never been drunk, she didn't know what would happen if she got drunk.
With a bang, she tried to recall what happened tonight. It wasn't very clear, but she seemed to remember that Arthur had come and led her to the car. She also vaguely remembered that she pulled Arthur onto the bed and sat on top of him.
Good grief! Did she do all that?
That was embarrassing!
She looked around for her phone, it was still in her handbag. She saw that there were a lot of incoming messages from Dave.
[Is Boss mad at you?]
[If Boss gets angry, I'll take responsibility, don't be sad, ok?]
[I didn't know that you were drunk with three glasses. If I had known, I would not have let you drink. But everything I told ya is true. ps; about Boss' secret]
[It's just that, that was in the past. Don't bring this up with Boss. He'll kill me]
[Sister-in-law, you don't want me to die at Boss' hands, rite?]
There were many more messages, but she didn't have the energy to read them.
Right. She remembered about it. Dave told her about Arthur's ex and told her that it was possible Arthur is still in love with his ex. The woman was almost Arthur's age, which meant more mature than her, and very beautiful. They separated because the woman left Arthur for no reason, right when Arthur was undergoing treatment at the hospital and became blind.
Hearing this, Livy really cursed the woman. It was very clear that she left Arthur at Arthur's disadvantage. Doesn't that mean she's not sincere?
Livy thought that if she had been in that woman's position, she would have always been there to support him. In a state of illness, not only does the body become weak, the mind and spirit are also affected.
It must have been a tough day for Arthur. Livy felt really bad for him.
At seven o'clock, Livy had breakfast as usual and Arthur didn't accompany her as usual either.
Livy asked the maid, "Is Arthur awake? He doesn't feel well this morning. Is he okay?"
"He is fine, Young Lady." The maid answered kindly.
"Oh."
Maybe Livy was overthinking.
After finishing breakfast, she saw Arthur coming downstairs in a hurry with neat clothes. When on the stairs, he could only walk slowly no matter how fast he had to be.
"Come on, let's go," he said, putting on his tie.
Livy saw that the tie was still messy. "Wait. Can I help you with that?"
Arthur looked at his tie, then looked at Livy, and said, "Please."
A faint smile formed on Livy's lips and she smoothed the tie slowly. Being so close, she could smell Arthur's perfume, it was pleasant and masculine.
She was so serious about fixing the tie, she didn't know that Arthur was looking at her. Arthur opened and closed his mouth several times, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end remained silent.
"It's finished."
Arthur cleared his throat. "Thanks."
Livy looked at him, right at Arthur's messy hair, and smoothed it out.
"It's really done. You are so handsome," she smiled.
There was no response from Arthur. The two stared at each other. One flat, one still with a smile. And Livy was the first to notice that something was wrong.
She just said that Arthur was so handsome!
Even though she wasn't lying and it was true, but she said it directly. This was embarrassing!!!
Arthur seemed to realize that Livy was embarrassed. To help cover her embarrassment, he said, "We're going to be late. Your orientation is today, right?"
"Ah, you're right."
The two head to the car. Nobody said anything the whole way. Livy vaguely remembered her shoving her pinky finger at Arthur but had no memory of what she had said.
"Do you remember it?" asked Arthur when he found Livy staring at her own little finger.
"No." Livy shook her head. "I don't remember."
Arthur's eyes dropped.
"Will you tell me?"
"If you forget then forget it. No need to remember." Arthur answered nonchalantly.
"I was just wondering, maybe it's something embarrassing …" Livy muttered sadly.
She just muttered to herself, but Arthur heard her clearly. He said, "It doesn't matter."
"Is that true?"
"Mn."
Livy was disappointed, she couldn't believe it.
But she had no reason to ask anymore.
... to be continued ...
