Do you want twins?
Evander left early in the morning from the apartment to the hospital when he heard the news that Arthur had regained consciousness. Dave had told him because last night Livy was so tired she forgot to tell him. When he arrived at Arthur's ward, he saw Dave was sleeping soundly on the couch and Arthur who looked really 'alive'.
He was barely speechless.
The inpatient room he ordered was a VVIP room; has an area almost as big as the living room, dining room and bathroom combined. Very spacious and luxurious. Instead of being called a treatment room, this looks more like a presidential suite type hotel room. He even felt his steps were far enough to reach Arthur, once he was close enough he couldn't control himself and hugged Arthur.
"Whoa, relax."
Evander felt a weak hand pat his shoulder. "I left as soon as I heard you woke up."
Arthur rarely laughed, but he smiled at these words. "Don't get too emotional."
The hug was only temporary, Evander cleared his throat awkwardly and stared at Arthur without blinking. "How do you feel now? Uncomfortable somewhere?"
There was something else on Arthur's face, and it was only now that Evander noticed that the man was wearing glasses.
"Great. Because someone out there signed a consent to surgery on me without my permission." Arthur quipped.
"Pfft. You know that's his idea. He'll explode sometimes if things don't go his way."
Arthur knew who Evander was referring to, it was Dave. He said sincerely, "Thanks."
Evander shrugged.
They didn't speak anymore, knowing tacitly that it was a good thing for anyone to make the decision for the other. That's how their friendship goes.
"Well, it suits you." Evander pointed at the glasses.
"How do you manage to wear this thingy all day? Just putting it on for a while makes my nose hurt." Arthur frowned.
"The discomfort is only temporary. You'll soon get used to it."
"Nonsense."
Evander laughed. He picked up an apple on the table and ate it.
When Arthur was about to take off his glasses, Livy prevented him. "Don't take that off."
"It's okay. My eyes can clearly see your face at this distance. Just a little sandy." Arthur smiled.
Livy sighed. "Could you please just this once? This is for your recovery. Didn't the doctor say if you can cooperate with the treatment, you will recover faster?"
This little wife of his became very fussy. Arthur sighed. "I have recovered."
Livy knew this man was only talking nonsense to cheer her up. In fact, even after waking up from a coma, he is still often seen showing that his eyes hurt. Even his body still hasn't moved much after the surgery. Even though his hands could move now, it must have taken a lot of effort.
"Yes, you're healed. But don't take that off for now and don't move much just yet. Just follow all the doctor's advice, ok. If there's anything you need, just tell me."
Seeing her husband's pale face, she lowered her head, trying not to be depressed.
Arthur's gaze, on the other hand, was meaningful. "I want a hug."
Evander chewed on an apple which suddenly tasted bitter.
To be honest, Arthur was just joking and wanted to tease his little wife, but he didn't expect that she would rise up and actually hug him. Her hug was soft, so soft like cotton wool, as if it wasn't a hug at all.
"There are more?" Livy asked shyly.
Arthur still couldn't digest the situation.
She let go of the hug with a blushing face. "I-If you don't have any, I'll wash this fruit for you. W-Wait a minute."
After saying that, she didn't leave immediately, but ducked a little and kissed his forehead.
"I love you."
Wtf?
On the other hand, the apple in Evander's mouth was getting bitter.
"Dude, did she actually kiss you and says 'I love you'?" He said blankly.
Arthur smiled slightly because of his little wife's romantic attitude.
"She's become a lot more gentle and caring lately. She's so sweet, isn't she?"
"You're serious?"
Arthur nodded proudly.
Evander didn't say anything else, he felt happy if in the end the relationship between the two was fine. Especially after he finally found out the history of their meeting in the past. Livy brought this up right after he told her about a bit of Arthur's past. He didn't expect that she had even known Arthur before him.
Maybe it's fate.
After he found out, it made sense why Arthur had chosen Gwen in the past, it was because Livy and Gwen were almost alike.
It wasn't that he chose Livy because she looked like Gwen, but the opposite.
Fvck! Remembering Gwen only made his heart feel angry again.
Evander looked at Arthur's face which was still a little pale, but he was much better than a few days ago. "How are you feeling? Wait, don't say you feel great because I'm sure you're not feeling great that fast."
"My muscles are a little numb."
"You relapsed after losing a lot of blood, that's only natural. You almost scared your little wife to death in there."
Arthur's expression was slightly wry. He didn't mean to get hurt in the first place and scare her.
"How's Gwen?"
Evander let out a sharp breath, at a time when he didn't want to remember that woman ...
"She was imprisoned. All the witnesses and evidence against her. Moreover, she managed to injure someone with a sharp weapon."
Arthur still couldn't imagine at that moment he wasn't there to stop her. At first he didn't even know it was Gwen. Arthur closed his eyes, shaking off the bad image he had in mind.
"Release her." He said after a while.
Evander narrowed his eyes at him. "Are you sure?"
Arthur didn't answer right away. He still had doubts, but he had known Gwen for many years, she was not a rash woman. She is very easily influenced by others, and her actions are determined because someone else encourages her.
"I don't want any more trouble with Branimir Estelle. Release Gwen immediately and send her back to her father." Arthur reasoned.
Although Evander did not agree but he did not argue. "Well, if that's what you want. But I'm not bothered if Dave hears this and gets into trouble with her."
Arthur glanced at Dave who was deep asleep. "I will prevent him."
Evander just laughed sarcastically in his heart. Dave is an impulsive and short-tempered person. He even dared to attack Arthur's half-brother without his knowledge, how could he not attack Gwen too—even though she was a woman. Dave had given his life to Arthur right after Arthur gave him a home during a famine in the past. He would attack anyone who hurt Arthur. He is a guard dog that bites enemies.
"How's the company lately?" Arthur asked.
Evander was distracted from his own thoughts. "All went well. I have resigned."
Arthur was not surprised to hear this. "Is my father looking for me?"
"Well, he ... no."
Evander bet that Arthur knew he was lying, but there was no expression on Arthur's face. He cooperated to change the subject, "You're unemployed now?"
"Who cares? I'm filthy rich."
These words made Arthur laugh sarcastically.
He reminisced about an incident in the past, where Evander came to his shabby house near the harbor and brought lots of gifts to thank him for being 'saved'. Evander came with the proud face of a rich young master who was blessed by God—with several bodyguards on his right and left. What a young master who likes to waste money and resources.
And it was this wealthy young master who was willing to subdue himself just to be his personal assistant.
He was not a man short of money, he became Arthur's assistant purely for fun.
Very less work.
"You've caused a lot of trouble. I dare not show my face to Kylan." Arthur sighed.
Evander refrained from telling Arthur that his brother had asked him to come home a few days ago. Especially since Luther met him to get information. Now that Arthur had regained consciousness, his older brother would have known about it and would have suppressed him again.
"You know he's a bit strict as an old man."
"He cares about you, at least." Arthur said.
Arthur also thought that maybe at least his father cared about him a little. Maybe. After all he had been missing for quite some time, Evander would have lied to say his father wasn't looking for him. Knowing his father's disposition, he would definitely turn the city upside down in search of this son he despised. Moreover, Arthur had brought 80 percent of the company's shares with him, his father would not remain silent.
But seeing that no one sent by his father met him at this hospital, it was certain that Evander was keeping his whereabouts a secret.
By then Livy had returned with sliced apples and mangoes. She brought the plate to the table. Evander immediately stood up.
"I'm going to have a smoke," he said. He headed towards Dave and tugged him, Dave woke up instantly.
"What the fvck do you want, bitch!" He screamed, but Evander just chuckled and dragged him out of the room.
Now that there were only the two of them left, Livy fed Arthur to eat fruit.
"This mango looks unripe." Arthur frowned.
Livy was a little embarrassed as she said, "This ... I wanted it since yesterday and just got it."
Arthur had almost forgotten the fact that Livy was pregnant. "So you wanted this since yesterday and didn't tell me?"
It is said that pregnant women go through a craving phase. Apart from that there is also morning sickness and the like.
"Have you had any nausea and dizziness for the past two months?" asked Arthur eagerly.
"No."
"Why don't you experience it? Aren't all pregnant women sick and vomiting?"
Livy found Arthur's curiosity amusing. She stroked her belly which still looked flat, but two months already in her womb. She had her pregnancy checked and the doctor said the baby was fine. Luckily she didn't have too much nausea and vomiting, but the feeling was still there.
"This baby really understands her mother's situation, this baby is becoming a good child." Livy smiled.
Arthur looked at Livy's beautiful smile which was very sincere and carried away. "May I touch it?"
Livy shyly approached so Arthur could reach her. She felt his hand rub gently, like a light touch of cotton, as if afraid of hurting her. She was impatient and put her hand over his. They circled her belly gently.
"A little meaty in here." Arthur said.
"Not really, I haven't gained weight yet." Livy confessed.
"How much weight can you gain while pregnant?"
"Hm ... I read on the internet, a woman can gain up to 11 to 15 kilograms during pregnancy. If it's twins, I can gain more than that!" Livy exclaimed excitedly.
"Then how do you get twins?"
"You want twins?"
Arthur nodded. He took his little wife's hand and fiddled with her slender fingers.
"How much do you want?" she asked.
"Five?"
"A-Are you crazy? My stomach will explode if filled with five babies!" Livy couldn't imagine if that was really happening and her stomach exploded. "No, no. After all, we're new parents, how is it possible to take care of five kids at once?"
"You are right." Arthur smiled weakly.
Livy felt a bit of disappointment from Arthur, she felt a bit guilty. Her hand touched his cheek and made him look at her, then gently kissed his cheek. Arthur was shocked.
"I have no problem having any children. We can do it in stages, ok?" Livy soothed him gently.
Arthur was touched by her words, immediately hugged her tightly. His cheek just touched Livy's stomach and felt warm at the same time.
"Now, now, don't hug me too tightly. You haven't recovered much yet. Don't let this surgery go to waste." Livy rubbed his head gently.
Arthur looked up. "I'm just kidding."
"Hmm?" Livy was confused.
"How many children you want to have is up to you. You are the one who is pregnant and it must not be easy for you."
"..."
"Even if there is one child or two, I don't mind. All the attention and affection I will give to they. I will not turn my face away from they no matter how busy I am, that they have no time to feel alone and lonely."
There was something inside Livy that was throbbing painfully. She clearly understood Arthur's words as he was reflecting on how alone and lonely he had been.
"Mn." Livy nodded. "Just live first, we never know the future, right?"
In her heart she promised, she would not let him be lonely.
... to be continued ...
