Chapter thirty eight
"Oh boy, what's she doing here?" Jack growled.
Drew whipped his head around to see Benita walking toward them. This time around, her clothes were much better than the last time, only a bit. At least, it was saying something considering the kind of person she was.
"What are you doing here?" Drew snapped.
He wasn't in the mood for any of her games, all he wanted to do was get over the day and go talk to his father the following day, and now freaking Benita was here.
Drew's wolf laughed within him and Drew had the urge to laugh too but he just wasn't in the mood for all that.
"It's a club Drew, I can come here as I please. After all, it belongs to our pack" she drawled.
Killian and Jack left silently. They didn't want to be in the way especially if Benita planned on attacking Drew. Benita could be a crazed fellow and no one wanted to be close to her.
"Yes, I know it's a club but you are not allowed to come in here" Drew snapped.
"Well, you can't stop me" she drawled.
As quick as lightning, Drew slammed her to the wall and was satisfied when he heard a light crack on her head. He knew she wouldn't feel it that much, seeing as she was strong.
Benita smiled, grabbing his shoulders as she tried to straddle his waist. Drew felt disgusted as he watched her hands grip his shoulders possessively.
"Get your hands off me Benita" Drew growled.
"But I love the feeling of you" she smiled.
"What the hell?" a voice screamed.
Benita scrambled away just as Drew turned to see Laura walk out of the club. At that moment, he felt sick to his stomach. He knew that what Benita did was a set-up and he vowed to deal with her as soon as he got the chance but for now, he needed to find laura.
"Get out of my club. I never want to see you anywhere here or my home" Drew snapped.
Benita chuckled before walking out of the club. When she left, Drew dashed out, searching for his mate everywhere but try as he may, he couldn't find her anywhere.
"Did you see laura?" Drew asked.
No one had seen her and for the first time in a long while, he felt so alone.
*******************************
"Laura, I've been looking all over for you," Drew sighed.
He finally found her at the back of the club, at the bleachers where she knew no one could find her. Her back was to him and with the way it shook, he knew that she was beyond angry.
"How long?" she said.
Drew was confused as he racked his brain, trying to understand what she meant. Laura could be unpredictable at times and this was one of those moments.
"How long, what? I don't understand" Drew said.
"How long did you and Benita date? How long Drew and don't even lie to me or I'll force the truth out myself" she thundered.
If she was angry before, she was livid now. Drew knew there was no form of apology that would reduce her anger. She caught him in a very compromising position and even a blind man could see that.
"Laura... I don't think that matters" Drew said.
Her back was still to him and Drew discovered with horror she was crying. He didn't want to go near her for fear of him getting a blast of her magic. There was no telling what she'll do now that she was beyond angry.
"Drew... Tell me the truth" she said.
"Five years" he whispered.
"So for five years, you've been with that whore and by my calculation, it's been five years since you both broke up but yet you still allow her to get to you?" Laura cracked.
She turned to face him and Drew's heart broke with the tears etched on her cheek. She folded her arms and the only reason she didn't drop them was that she was trying to control her emotions.
"I didn't Laura, I swear it. She came onto me the moment you walked in. You should know that Benita is a conniving whore" Drew said.
"I don't care. All I know is that if you stood your ground, you wouldn't have allowed her access to you" Laura snapped.
"I'm sorry," Drew said.
"It's okay, I don't need your apology. I only came here to tell you that Alpha Nikolas seeks your attention at the palace" she said.
"Please, tell him I'll be there tomorrow," he said, walking towards her.
She raised a finger, taking a step back. Drew's heart broke at this and he desperately wished he could turn back the hands of time and erase everything that had happened.
"Laura, you've got to believe me. I have nothing to do with her" Drew begged.
"I'm not asking you to justify yourself, Drew. I simply don't want you close to me. I've delivered Alpha Nikola's message and that's all I came to do" she said.
She walked past him, never for once allowing her body to touch his. She couldn't trust herself not to go back on her words if her body touched him. Her body was a traitorous being and she didn't have the energy to fight his hold.
"You know where to find me if you need me," she said before walking out.
Drew slumped on the chair just as his friends walked in. He held his head in his hands as his thoughts took on different twists.
"She's right you know," Killian said.
"Don't even start Killian. Let's not go blaming Drew when we all know Benita is a conniving bitch" Jack spat.
He hated her just as much as Drew and the only reason she was still around them was that they all belonged to the same pack.
"I don't need these guys. Please, could you give me a few minutes, I need to think" Drew said.
"Sure," Killian said.
They filed out, leaving Drew to his thoughts. Just then, he felt a chilling presence and he knew that the Moon goddess was here.
"I warned you about this," she said.
"Moon goddess, please not you too," Drew huffed.
"I'm not here to do whatever your friends did, name blaming. But remember this was one of the challenges I warned you about. Drew, you will face greater challenges and it's left for you to act wisely" she said.
"Any solution to this?" Drew huffed.
"Act wisely, that's all," she said.
As silently as she came, she left. Drew was left all alone now as his thoughts filled his mind. He knew that Laura was right, he allowed Benita a lot of privileges which was why she was misusing them.
"I've been so stupid especially when it comes to her" he muttered.
"Yo Drew, could you come in here for a minute?" Killian said.
Drew sighed, rising to his feet. Even though his whole life was in shambles, he still had a duty to protect his pack.
"What's up?" he said.
"The submarine for the consignment is ready but the boys at the port need your approval before they launch it," Killian said.
"Give them the damn approval then" Drew snapped.
Jack stared at him before he fed the information to the receiver that connected the club to the port.
"You look like hell" Killian chuckled.
"I feel like one too. I'll be going to see Alpha Nikolas tomorrow. That's what Laura came to tell me, I'll use that opportunity to ask him for help then let's see how it goes" he said.
"Alright, do you need us to tag along?" Jack asked.
"No, I've got this. You guys take care of everything here and at the office".
"Got it, boss," Killian said.
"Anything yet on our attack on the building?" Drew asked.
"Nothing aside from police and press reports speculating on who could be responsible but as of now, no accusing finger has been pointed at us," Jack said.
"That's better. At least, one less poison warehouse to destroy the city and its people'' Drew sighed.
"Alpha Jed's advancing in terms of creating more gangs and buildings. We have to be careful with him, he's our biggest rival" Killian said.
"It would only take time but I know we'll deal with him. He can't escape this time around" Drew said.
"If we're smart about it," Jack said.
"We will and this time, there'll be no mistakes" Drew vowed.
This was going to be the last battle and he'll make sure of it.
