Chapter forty nine
"Jed is going to pay for every single thing he has done. I heard some rumors about him recruiting young girls for some prostitution ring.'' Jack said.
"Damn, we need to nail this bastard. This is getting out of hand.'' Drew said.
"We need to do that once and for all. It's a good thing we're already on his tail, that would keep him busy till we finally get him.'' Jack said.
"I know man, I know but I'm just thinking about all the things that would go wrong before we finally nail the bastard,'' Drew said.
"As I said before man, some things have to die before we achieve success,'' Jack said.
They got to the hostel soon which was one of Drew's investments. Jack put the car to a stop at the driveway before the duo climbed out. They made their way into the reception to collect the key card that would enable them to access the room.
"I'll take the room on the left, you take the one on the right,'' Drew said.
Jack nodded before moving over to his assigned room. They had to get all the rest they needed since they would be going into battle with Jed's boys that night.
Inside his room, Drew placed a call to his mate and frowned when she didn't pick up at the first ring. He dialed the number again and was relieved when she picked it up.
"Hey, honey.'' Laura smiled.
Drew could hear water sounds and he discovered that she had been in a bath hence her delay in answering the call.
"Mate,' 'Drew growled.
He was always so possessive and this was one of those moments. Laura knew he missed her badly hence his reason for calling her so early.
"Fiend, how are you? Did you arrive on time?" Laura laughed.
"Yes, we did. Have you had something to eat?" Drew chuckled.
"Yes, I had a light dinner. I couldn't eat though, especially since you're not here with me.'' Laura said.
"Baby, I'll be home soon I promise. Please eat something more, for me.'' Drew said.
"I will. Please, be careful. Remember, I love you.'' Laura said.
"I love you too baby and I will spend the rest of my life loving you.''Drew smiled.
The duo talked for a while before Drew cut the call but not before promising her that he would call the following day.
Later on, at the stroke of twelve when everywhere was silent and the wolves were ready to play, Jack walked into Drew's room. He was adorned in his battle gear and Drew could tell that he was ready to fight and so was he.
"Do we have everything we need?" Drew asked.
"Yes. Guns, grenades. We have everything.'' Jack said.
"Good. Are all the men in position?" Drew asked, cocking his gun.
"Yes, they're all waiting for your command. An aerial view of the location showed that we would have little to no interruptions. I envision a smooth operation but we should know that dealing with Jed or anything associated with him can be dangerous.'' Jack said.
"We'll pull through this. I'm sure of it.'' Drew said.
The duo left the hotel soon, heading to the sports cars Jack had gotten earlier. As they drove, Drew looked through their plans, and once again, he was assured of their success.
"We'll go through the back, the area where security is minimal,'' Drew said.
"Yes, I'll take that front. I think we should go through both entrances so Jed and his boys wouldn't have any chance of escaping.'' Jack said.
"Alright, we'll go through with everything we've said. I estimate an hour for the whole operation, anything less or more could be disastrous.'' Drew said.
"Then we have to be fast because the building is one of the largest in the city,'' Jack said.
"Okay. We'll gather up what we need but this time around, I think we should involve the government.'' Drew said.
"No, that's a mistake. Some of these government officials could be under Jed's payroll.'' Jack said.
Drew knew he was right and deep down, he had an idea of who was involved.

They got to the building soon and Drew was a bit surprised to see the large size of the building. True to Jack's words, security men were stationed all over the building. Drew and Jack instructed the men to stand in stationed places as they invaded the building.
He was a bit surprised that he and Jack were able to infiltrate the building without any problem. They got to the entrance that led to other areas of the building. Jack took the right-wing while Drew took the left.
Slowly and steadily, Drew climbed up the steps leading to the vaults. Earlier, Jack had briefed him on where the vaults were kept and he had no issues discovering it. As Drew got to the entrance of the massive gold mine, his wolf growled within.
"What's the problem?" Drew said.
"I can't explain it, I feel something odd within these grounds.'' his wolf said.
"Is it a spirit or human?" Drew asked, cocking his gun.
He wasn't going to take any chances especially when it came to the safety of his wolf. Drew could be something greater and deadlier when it came to that.
"A force greater than what I can explain.'' his wolf said.
Drew looked around but he couldn't find anything that remotely resembled a threat. He eased his gun to the ground as he put in the vault's combination.
"Drew, wait it's a trap,'' Jack shouted.
But it was too late because right at that moment, the entrance of the vault exploded to reveal hundreds of Jed's minions, scrambling out to attack them.
"Where did they come from?" Drew thundered.
He shifted into his wolf form and he was glad that his wolf was ready to fight. Drew fought through the haze of the attackers as they tried all they could to overpower them but they couldn't as the duo were far stronger together than any other group.
Soon, all was quiet as Jack killed off the last of the attackers. He shifted back into his wolf form just as Drew did.
"Is that the last of them?" Drew asked.
"Yes. But we need to proceed with caution this time around, we wouldn't want a repeat of last time.'' Jack said.
He stared at the area, trying to discover if there were threats but everywhere was clear as they could see no threats.
"So now that this one is blown up, where is the real vault?'' Drew asked.
"It's underground. I made a mistake when I thought this was the real vault, it looks so alike.'' Jack said.
"I know, deception can fool one at times,'' Drew said.
They walked in the direction of the underground vault, all the while keeping an eye on threats.
"How long do we get there and how many minutes do we have left for the mission,'' Drew said.
"Two minutes till we get to the vault and thirty minutes left to complete the mission,'' Jack said.
Drew nodded, gripping his gun tightly. His wolf was restless, which wasn't a good sign. Usually, when he was restless, it always spelled trouble for him and everyone around him, and Drew wasn't sure if he wanted to have a repeat of what happened the last time.
"Calm down wolf, we'll be out of here soon,'' Drew said.
His wolf growled, reluctantly staying quiet. Drew sighed, sometimes he wished things could go the way he had envisioned them to go and not the constant whirlwind his life was currently experiencing.
It was now clear to Drew that Alpha Jed was behind everything they were facing and only time could tell how everything would turn out.
‘’What do you we do now?’’ Jack asked.
At that moment, Drew was short of ideas. He didn’t know whether to go forward or just retreat and plan out what he needed to do once again.
‘’Let’s proceed,’’ Drew said.
He wasn’t one to back down, Alpha Nikolas had always taught him that, and Drew knew it was better to face the issue squarely than cower and retreat when he knew quite well that Alpha Jed wouldn’t do that if he were in his shoes.
Thanks to Laura, she had successfully weakened him by causing fatal injuries to his son which was to their benefit. The real problem now was for how long would Alpha Jed remain weakened. He could very well bounce back, faster than they expected.
‘’We have to be careful though,’’ Jack said.
Drew could see the strain in his eyes and he knew it was a result of what they were currently facing. For centuries, Alpha Jed had been a thorn in their flesh, and Drew knew it was time to put an end to him and everything he stood for.
He knew that if they didn’t do that soon, Alpha Jed could very well take over his entire pack if he wasn’t careful and that was something Drew would never allow.
