Chapter seventy five
"Nice of you to come out of your hiding Alpha Drew.'' Jed chuckled.
Drew took a step forward just as he heard hundreds of armour tanks pull up at the garage of his Mansion. They were here, the reinforcements he desperately wanted were here and he knew that the battle with the demon leader would be a walk through the park.
"I wasn't hiding Jed, I was merely taking my time.'' Drew said.
His wolf was itching to come out and tear the bastard into pieces but Drew wasn't ready yet, he wanted it to be the last thing. He wanted to give his wolf the pleasure of dealing with the rival leader himself.
"Then why did you have a change of mind. You could have stayed put so I'll find you myself then kill you.'' Jed chuckled.
"That's too boring, don't you think?" Drew smirked.
Jack and Killian came out from their hiding, clutching their guns menacingly just as Antonio walked in. Drew gasped silently when he saw the state the poison master was in. His head was in a deformed shape and his face had different colours on it, Drew couldn't determine what colour it truly was.
"Glad to see that you're alive.'' Drew mocked.
"You did this. You turned me into a hideous monster, you'll pay for this" Jed's son spat.
"You turned to this because of your own actions. I'm glad you're alive because it only means you're here to die a second death.'' Drew laughed.
"Hello Jack, I'm sure you got my letter.'' Jed mocked.
Jack lunged at him but he was stopped by Killian who placed a gentle hand on his shoulder, silently reassuring him that soon everything would be over.
"It's good to see that you're devastated over her death.'' Jed mocked.
"You'll never get away with this. You and all your agents.'' Jack growled.
"We have. Don't you see? Your entire building is on lockdown and soon, we'll be injecting a poison so strong into the atmosphere it would kill off every wolf and even the unborn.'' Jed said.
"No.'' Drew's wolf gasped
Jed's son chuckled, bringing out a small machine that was steadily counting down to the time the poison would be released.
"You'll never get away with it.'' Drew growled.
"We have, it's only a matter of time before the poison spreads to every part of the country as it slowly wipes out every existing and non-existing Wolf.'' Jed chuckled.
Drew watched as he placed the counter on a nearby table, purposely facing it towards them so they could see how much time they had left. Drew's mind was working furiously now as he tried to decide on the next line of action to take. He had to look for a way to stop the timer and at the same time, he had to fight Jed.
Without thinking, his wolf took over, lunging at Jed as he fought furiously. Jack and Killian attacked his son and another minion who came in at that moment. They were surprised to see that he and his his people were in fact demons in human form.
"Such a pity for fighting me when your whole existence is about to become extinct.'Jed chuckled.
He dealt Drew a heavy blow, sending his wolf flying back. Drew fell to the ground with a sickening thud and was forced to shift back to his human form. Immediately, he stood up as he grabbed a gun laying on the ground, shooting at Jed who was too swift. He deflected everyone of the bullets, sending it back to Drew.
"He's too strong, I need help.'' Drew shouted.
He glanced at his friends and was happy to see that his son and the other's lay dead on the ground. Drew growled when he saw the state his friends were in, Jack was a bloody mess while Killian sported a bloody wound at his rib cage which forced him to shift back.
"Your friends are injured so I guess it's you and i now.'' Jed chuckled.
Drew was quite surprised that Jed didn't even seem concerend over his son's death. This just proved to him that he was also heartless and never cared about anyone but himself. It showed in the way he behaved.
Drew shifted once again, tackling Jed to the ground. He growled when the rival pack leader stabbed him on the back with his sharp claws. Drew tried all he could to free himself from the stronghold but it proved difficult as the more he struggled, the more Jed held on.
"Just give up Drew.'' Jed chuckled.
"Never.'' Drew seethed.
He pushed him away as he clutched his bloody chest. He gasped when he saw the pool of blood that was around him. Drew collapsed to the ground, growing weaker as his eyes dimmed further. He could just make out Jed walking towards him as he prepared to give him the final blow.
"You've lost Drew, I'm the victor.'' Jed laughed.
He grew bigger, his head almost touching the ceiling as a long sword materialized in his hands. Drew struggled to get up but it seemed he was under a spell as every muscle in his legs failed to obey to his command.
"Drew, get up and fight.'' Jack gasped from where he laid on the bloodied ground.
He and Killian lay on the ground, holding their point of injury as they crawled towards them, trying to help their boss who was at the brink of death.
"You're just useless.'' Jed said.
He threw the sword at him, taking perfect aim at Drew's chest but Drew was swift enough to catch it mid throw. He gripped the sword tightly even though it pained him to do so as he rose to his feet.
Drew gripped his chest, holding the sword that seemed to glow at his touch. Jed's eyes widened as he watched Drew slowly recover.
"What sort of sorcery is this?" he thundered.
"It isn't.'' Drew chuckled.
Without another word, he threw the sword at him, aiming for his chest. The sword landed neatly on his chest as Drew watched the demon leader shift back to his normal size.
"You might have defeated me now but I'll return and when I do, you'll wish you never crossed me.''Jed gasped.
Drew watched with satisfaction as the light left Jed's eyes. He slumped to the ground but staggered back up immediately when his eyes landed on the timer that was slowly counting down to the deadline.
With only thirty seconds to spare, Drew crawled towards the timer in pain as a result of the large gash of wound that was on his chest.
"I have to reach it.'' Drew groaned.
"You're closer to it, try Drew.'' Killian croaked.
Drew staggered towards the machine, his hands barely touching it but at the end, he switched it off with just ten seconds to spare.
Drew slumped to the ground as the reality of what just happened crashed through his mind. The battle wasn't over, far from it. Jed had disappeared into thin air and Drew knew that he would be back. This wasn't going to end now because just before he had disappeared, Drew had seen the look of hatred in his eyes.
"It's not over man.'' Jack sighed
"No, its not. Jed is going to be back and this time, its going to be worse because now, i have successfully killed his son and by the time he is back, it will be worse than we can ever imagine.'' Drew sighed.
Just before the darkness enveloped him, he saw a blinding flash of light and he knew that help had come. There was still a whole lot of things for them to do and they needed to restrategize for when Jed will return.
One thing Drew knew was that when Jed returned, he had to do everything humanly possible to stop him or else, Jed would finish him off without blinking an eye.
He had threatened him before in the past and Drew knew that he would be a fool if he didn't act on that threat. Jed isn't one to give threats and not work on it. Drew had seen first hand the way he acted. He killed without mercy and he would be making the greatest mistake if he didn't protect himself and Laura.
Now that she was pregnant with his child, Drew knew he had to give them the utmost protection. She was almost due and Werewolves delivery were quicker than humans. In about two weeks time, he would be welcoming his new born cub and when the baby arrived, Drew knew that he had no other option but to send Laura away to live in one of his many mansions abroad.
That was the best and only option and to him, it was better safe than sorry. Laura meant the whole world to him and the safety of his mate and his cub was paramount in his mind. That and nothing more mattered to him.
