Chapter eighty
Chapter Eighty
Laura
I was not going to panic but it was easier said than done. Drew was on his way to the mansion and all I had on was a flimsy nightgown that did little to nothing to cover up my most sensitive area.
''This man.'' I groaned.
I hurried towards my room, spraying a little deodorant on myself. Even though I was still angry at him, that didn't mean I wouldn't let him in.
About twenty minutes later, I heard a knock on the door. I took a deep breath before walking towards the door. I had no doubt that it was Drew who had just arrived.
I was nervous, that much was certain, especially with the way my hands shook as I unlocked the front door to let him in.
''Hi mate.'' he smiled.
His smile alone unnerved me and I found myself wishing to be his. The only thing preventing our happines was his insistence not to tell me what was bothering him in mind but this morning or whatever the time was, I vowed to get the answers from him.
''Welcome.'' I said.
He walked in with a small smile that left my heart in puddles. Seriously, did this guy have any idea what he does to me?. Seeing him like this left me in puddles.
''Where's my baby?'' he asked.
''Sound asleep, you didn't have to bother coming.'' I muttered.
I knew what it took to drive all the way from his other mansion to mine especially since it was so early in the morning.
''Get dressed, I want to take you somewhere.'' he said.
I did a double take, staring at him like he had grown two heads. Where did he possibly want to take me to by this time of the morning?
''Where are we going?'' I asked.
''It's a surprise.'' he smirked.
''And how do we take our baby? She's still sleeping.'' I said.
''Don't worry about that. A nanny is coming and before you say you don't know her, she's a member of my pack and i trust her with my life.'' he smiled.
He wrapped his hands around my waist and at that moment, I felt loved. I had never been loved so much as Drew loved me. Just then, there was a slight knock on the door before it was pushed open by an elderly woman.
This was the Nanny Drew had talked about. Call it intuition but i suddenly felt at ease just by seeing her.
''Greetings Alpha.'' she smiled.
She gave me a warm hug, completely taking me by surprise. I felt more at ease in her presence and it showed in the small smile i gave her.
''The baby is in the second room to your left.'' I smiled.
''Thank you ma'am and you both have fun.'' she smiled before walking away.
I smiled, turning to face my handsome husband. It was true what they said, you can find love anywhere and anytime. Drew was a good example of that. I had never known love even in my step father's house.
''Okay, give me a minute?'' I said.
I skipped towards my room, thinking of what I would wear. I wanted to please him and I knew I had to put on something that would accentuate my body well.
I settled for a jet black gown that had silver designs at the hem. I left my hair just the way it was in a wavy curl that cascaded down my back. I looked at myself in the mirror and I was glad at what I saw.
I made my way out of my room, heading towards Drew. Just before I got to where he was, I stopped upon hearing his voice. From the conversation, I knew he was on the phone with someone.
''Of course, I'll get it done as soon as possible.'' he said.
I was confused because I didn't really know what he meant by that. Get what done? What was Drew really hiding? I remained in my position in a corner of the living room. For several minutes, he remained quiet and I was just coming out of hiding when I heard his voice once again.
''What I do with my life is none of your business so get that into your head.'' he snapped.
I had no doubt that what he had just said was related to me. I didn't know who he was talking to, which left me feeling worried and confused. If I was in danger of any kind, I knew I had to back out before it was too late. My life was much more important than any relationship I was in.
''You wouldn't dare.'' he barked.
By now, I could hear the other end of the conversation but it was so faint I couldn't make out what the person was saying.
''Are you prepared to run this show with me? Remember, I'm not one who you can threaten and get away with. I'll teach you a bitter lesson you'll never forget.'' he seethed.
I had heard enough. I walked out of my hiding place, moving into his line of sight. To say he was surprised would be an understatement, he was shocked.
''We'll talk about this some other time.'' he snapped before cutting the call.
I raised a brow just as he walked towards me with a pained look in his eyes. If he thought that would fool me, he got it all wrong because at that moment, i was fed up of being a fool.
''You're keeping secrets.'' I muttered.
''Laura, it's not what you think.'' he sighed.
''Then explain.'' I snapped.
He sighed, roughing hair. He had a confused look on his face and I knew he was finding it hard to tell me what exactly he was talking about.
''Drew, what on earth are you so scared of?'' I asked.
''Nothing.'' he said with a hard look in his eyes.
''Fine, then this outing is over.'' I snapped.
I would rather die than go out with someone who kept secrets. I tolerated it with my step father and his useless son and I wasn't about to do the same with Drew. I had passed that stage and it was high time he knew it.
''You can't possibly do that.'' he said.
''Then watch me.'' I said.
I was prepared to go back to my room to change the clothes I had on when he stopped me. There was a pleading look in his eyes, one that I saw regularly.
''That's not going to work on me and you know that Drew.'' I said.
''Fine, you really want to know what i do apart from running the club and my empire?'' he asked.
''Yes.'' I said.
''I'm into business, that's what I do.'' he said.
''What kind of business?'' I asked.
I knew I was pressing but at that moment, I just didn't care. Any information I could get would be really beneficial if I wanted to know more about him.
''Exporting and importing.'' he said.
I didn't know if he was telling the truth but with the look in his eyes, it was close to it. I walked towards him with a small smile on my face.
''See, that wasn't so hard was it?'' I chuckled.
He laughed, pulling me closer by the waist. I rested my hands on his chest, breathing in his deep masculine scent that seemed intoxicating.
''My persistent warrior.'' he laughed.
''That's why you love me.'' I grinned.

Drew
I led Laura to my Benz that was parked outside. To say she was surprised to see it would be an understatement, she was shocked. I had just got this baby only last week and this was the first time I taking it for a ride.
''Drew, how many cars do you really have?'' she asked.
''Let's just say I have enough.'' I said, kissing her palm.
I ushered her in before going around to the other side of the car. This night or morning or whatever time we were, I was going to make sure that she had the best time of her life.
''You still haven't told me where you are headed?'' she said.
''Patience my dear.'' I chuckled.
I eased the car out of the driveway, backing away. The road was fairly quiet and the only people that seemed to patrol the road were the police.
''I've never been out so early like this before.'' Laura muttered.
''I'm teaching you bad habits then.'' I laughed.
Throughout the ride towards where I was taking her, I held her hands, loving the way it gave me comfort and an assurance that things would be alright with us. I felt ashamed for not telling her the truth when she asked me what I did for a living but I realized that what she didn't know wouldn't kill her.
What I told her was just a general thing I told everyone else and I hated to think what she'd say when she discovered what I really did.
