I fell asleep crying and kept muttering that I was sorry for what I had done to Valerian in the past. Even though Valerian did not understand what was happening, he was there for me and consoled me.

I creased my forehead, hearing that begging tone from him. I turned at him and saw that he had this pleading expression like a puppy.

I wanted to huff, but I gladly obliged. Valerian hummed happily after getting what he wanted.

I secretly smiled. But then, it vanished upon remembering what happened last night.

"Val."

"Aren't you... going to ask me why I cried like that?"

He saw my vulnerable state. He saw how I was hurt and how I kept asking for his forgiveness.

He looked at me. His chartreuse orbs were piercing my soul. "I want to ask you, but... I am uncertain." I pursed my lips into a thin line when he said that. "You cried as if it was your biggest regret. You talked to me as if I was dead when I was still alive. Why is that? Are you... having a nightmare, Domi?"

I exhaled slowly, seeing how he looked so bewildered. He looked concerned as well.

How I wished I could tell him why I was like that. How I regretted everything that happened to him.

"But do you doubt my feelings for you? That I love you so much?" I could feel the stinging sensation in the corner of my eyes. I wanted to keep telling him that I loved him.

"Do you wish an honest answer?" I nodded. "I do. But I am just confused for now since we have just gotten to know each other, Dominixe!" He panicked. He must have seen the pain registered on my face.

"Because you do not know who I really am? Or do you think I am lying and just playing with you?" I clenched my hand. I couldn't blame though.

He held my face with both of his hands. It looked like he was sandwiching me. "I am not going to let you go. I have waited for you for a very long time—"

"That is not your initial reaction when we collided back in Elmbow." I rolled my eyes.

He chuckled. "My apologies. I am just surprised that I would have happened to meet you there. Plus, you are quite intimidating."

"So, you act grumpy at me?" I squinted my eyes at him.

This time, Valerian frowned. "You kept jumping to conclusions, Dominixe. Can you allow me to finish what I am saying?"

I kept chiming in, or for him to shut up and not be mad at me, I would kiss him.
