Chapter 22
POV Joann
Grace and I watch in horror as the Lycan reached Thea’s room before us. Miss Evens had closed the gap, but I couldn’t help wondering what exactly our tiny schoolteacher intended to do against this beast. It stood easily twice as tall as her and outweighed her by a minimum of two hundred pounds.
Without an ounce of hesitation Miss Evens started to shift. The sight causing Grave to slide to a stop. Watching in stunned disbelief as her clothes ripped, her body growing, and brownish red fur covered her body. Neither Grace nor I could rap our minds around what we were seeing. Miss Evens transformed into a giant Lycan; half again as big as the monstrosity we were chasing.
Her claws digging into the other's shoulders, I could hear his collar bone snapping. She flung him into the room across the hall before bounding after. The sound of claws on tile, light fixtures and furniture breaking. The building shook as they threw each other against the walls.
My heart pounding, Grace and I froze in time. Unable to do anything but watch. He wrapped his arms around her pulling her in, his teeth going straight for her throat. She managed to evade it just in time, but her arm took the blow. Hair and flesh torn from her arm in a loud ripping sound. She used this opportunity to dig her teeth into his side. Ribs cracked under the pressure, he elbowed her in the eye forcing her to release him. His claws slashing wildly at her chest. She kicked him into the wall, Sheetrock cracking the walls shook violently at the blow.
He pushed of the wall lunging at her, she saw it coming and quickly evaded him. Running her razor-sharp claws like knives down his side, his blood spilled out onto the floor.
“We have to help her!” I screamed to Grace.
Grace took a step back and sat down. “Do what? We can’t go in there. We will be torn to shreds if we get in the middle of that.”
Watching the two of them fight left no doubt that he let our men apprehend him. He could have easily killed half our men, but they returned without a scratch. He had wanted them to bring him here.
My mind returned to the girl; Grace’s head snapped around to the door behind us. A split-second distraction and his body came barreling towards us. Slamming us into the door to Thea’s room and smashing it in half. Sliding halfway into the room, the remaining door and frame stopping his body from sliding in.
The wind knocked out of me Grace was forced back leaving me naked on the floor. I saw two big blue eyes staring back at me from under the hospital bed a small Snow-White wolf with heckles raised snapping at me.
Before I could say a word, her attention moved to the black Lycan. Snarling and grunting as he tried wedging himself through the remnants of the door slipping on his own blood, finding no traction. Miss Evens grabbed him by the ankle dragging him back.
I pleaded with Grace to come back, lending her all the strength I had she pushed through. We stood between the girl and the door, with no idea what we were going to do if Miss Evens didn’t win.
Dragging his body back to her she wrapped her hand around his neck, lifting him until his head touched the ceiling.
The sound of the vertebrae in his neck breaking and his high-pitched gasps for air the only sound that could be heard.
She pulled his face close to hers. “Send my regards to the King.” She said before one last snapping sound.
Dropping his lifeless body to the ground he slowly morphed back into his human form.
Her eyes made contact with mine as she slowly shrunk. Bones snapping and popping back into place as it returned once more to the frame of a tiny owl eyed teacher.
Alpha Aiden and the warriors bust into the clinic, teeth bared and ready. The fight felt like it went on for hours but in fact in only a few minutes Miss Evens had dispensed the Lycan.
I was brought back by the tiny growls of the wolf behind me. Thea remained in her wolf form; eyes locked on Miss Evens. She smiled before bowing her head and casually walking past the wolves in the hallway.
Some of the men shift moving the body from view. Alpha Aiden and I remained in the room waiting to Candice to arrive. Both Aiden and I had tried to sooth the girl, but our efforts were meet with growls and snaps from her wolf.
When Candice arrived, she grabbed a big blanket from the linen closet. Pushing the bed out of the way she threw it over the small still very angry wolf. Wrapping it around her so only her head poked out and picking her up like a baby.
The wolf snapped and growled at Candice who simply flicked its nose. “Selova you let Thea come back, no one here is going to hurt you. “The small wolf let out a disapproving grumble making me want to laugh.
“The Lycan.” She growled.
“Yes, it would seem that Miss Evens is a Lycan and although she has some explaining to do. Judging by the condition of my clinic and the Lycan that was after you. If she intended to hurt you she would have done so already.”
With a humf she shifted back.
