Chapter 34
POV Thea
Walking into the pack house the smell hit me first. Luna’s amazing cooking filled the house with delicious smells but that wasn’t what had my mouth watering.
Coming around the corner first I saw Luna Joann but the man behind her made my heart stop. Time froze the second I heard him growl “Mate.”
Amira snapping me back to reality when she elbowed me making a clicking noise as she popped her tongue off the roof of her mouth. “Nice!” Is all she said.
“Do you wake up thinking of ways to embarrass me?” I asked. My face turning red.
“Most days but this one just fell in my lap.” She beamed as she grabbed the bags I had dropped.
He went to move towards me, but the Luna stopped him with her palm against his chest. Her hand looked like a child’s against his brood chest.
“Eric wait, she’s not yet 18. She can’t know you’re her mate yet.” Joann said sternly.
Eric growled loudly before looking down at Luna Joann. “I understand mother.”
“Eric?” Selova. “I told you he was real, he’s the silver wolf.”
“Grey.” Eric grumbled.
The Luna was right although he smelled amazing, was incredibly handsome and had a body that looked like it was chiseled out of stone I felt attracted to him, but I didn’t feel a bond.
His eyes locked on the Luna made me uncomfortable. Like I was standing in the room naked, and he didn’t dare look at me.
Luckily Amira couldn’t let two seconds pass before breaking the awkward silence.
“Well now all the blankets smell like booze, and we have to wash them.” She complained.
“What are you girls doing with alcohol.” Luna Joann scorned. Picking up the last of the bags they chatted their way down the hall like it was any other day.
Meanwhile I was left standing here. I couldn’t look away from him.
“You saved me.” I said.
For the first time looking in my eyes. “You needed saving.” He said simply.
Jason burst through the door like he lived there as usual. Seeing me he walked over putting his arm over my shoulder like he always does. “I heard you and sis got some hooch and are gonna get the Beta drunk and do dirty things to him. You naughty girls.” He said sarcastically.
Eric’s chest vibrated, a low growl emitting from him. “Mine.”
“Holy shit. What kind of Sasquatch, Titan giant ass mother fucker are you.” Jason said as all the color drained from his face.
Eric took two steps forward putting him directly in front of Jason.
I squeezed between them my chest pressed against him. “This is my friend Jason. He’s Amira’s brother, he’s also gay and rude. Super rude.” I placed my hand on his forearm, feeling his body relax under my touch made me smile. I felt my cheeks heat again and looked away.
Turning around to face Jason. “This Is Alpha Eric.” Jason’s eyes went wide. Before I realized what was happening Eric ran his hand along my stomach and across my bellybutton before pulling me into him. “Who also might be my mate.” I said making a face.
Selova purred in my head at his hands on my body.
“Wait. Wait. Wait. So, the missing Alpha is a fucking juggernaut and your mate?” Jason stood there with his mouth wide open.
Jason seemed to think it over for a minute. “Sweet!” His expression returning to normal. “I smell bacon.” He said finally before squeezing his way by Eric and me into the kitchen.
I just started laughing.
“What’s so funny?” Eric asked.
“Leave it to my friends. Nothing fazes them. Missing Alpha returns after six years, ok cool. Might be my mate, alright no biggie. I maybe the Lunar wolf, cool.”
Turning around to face him I ran my fingers down the long dark scar on his forearm. “What happened to you?” I asked.
“Can we talk about it later? Right now, I want to know what happened to you. When I left you had just woken up.” He took my hands in his. “I’m sorry I didn’t come see you before I left.”
I couldn’t help but feel guilty. He saved me and gave me the chance to live a normal life. On top of that he knew I was his mate. I could see the concern and longing in his eyes, but I didn’t feel the same.
“How about we pick this up later. I need to speak with Paula before her family arrives.” He leaned down and kissed my cheek gently before heading to the door.
“Are you going to put on a shirt at least? Or some shoes.” I asked him.
“Nothing here fits me, so I’ll just go without for now.” He called back as he walked out the door.
That gave me an idea, I hurried down the hall to find Jason. I found them in the laundry room unpacking our haul. Turns out only the bag with Beta Sebastian’s things had got wet.
“Jason, can you take me to town?” I asked.
Luna Joann gave me a look. “You girls were just in town for half the day.” She said.
“I know but I forgot something.” I told her.
“Thomas is getting off patrols, you can take him with you.” Luna said.
“Can’t it just be Jason and me. It’s kinda personal.” I lied but I really didn’t want Thomas or one of the other warriors tagging along.
I was sure Luna could tell I was lying but luckily, she didn’t push the subject.
Amira just looked at me with a big grin like she knew I was up to something.
“If we leave now, we won’t be too late for Paula’s family’s arrival and we can still make it to dinner.”
“I don’t like the idea of you going off pack territory without someone with you.” Luna said.
Jason crossed his arms. “And I’m what potato soup?”
“Without a guard.” Luna corrected.
“We will be safe. I promise. One quick stop and we will head right back. No shady alley drug deals or underground blackjack tables or anything. Cross my heart.” I told her.
“Be careful, be safe and be quick. Whatever you're doing better not get you in trouble.” She smiled.
I practically dragged Jason out of the house.
