End the relationship
Christian took small steps into the small living room, which looked exactly like how his grandparents' living room used to look.
“She loved swimming, but we forbade her,” the old granny said with a smile as her wrinkly hand ran over Shania's childhood photo she was hiding.
“She's a lovely girl…we raised her when her father…passed away,” Shania's granny continued, and Christian stayed silent as he listened. He was interested in knowing Shania's childhood. Why did such a sweet girl decide to be a stripper?
“How old was she?” Christian asked as he picked up another photo. He saw how the old woman's lips quivered upwards into a faint smile.
“It was a sad day for her…the poor girl was alone in the house when her father had a heart attack,” the granny remarked, and Christian noticed how her eyes twitched a little. The sadness in her voice was visible in her eyes. Christian didn't know Shania's father died from a heart attack.
“She was only three years old when her dad died…those two were inseparable,” the granny smiled and sat down on the couch with Christian's assistance.
“She's a tough one,” Christian couldn't help but say with a smile. He wanted to understand Shania more. It seemed the reason Shania was like that was that she watched her father die.
“I know she can be short-tempered…but she's a lovely girl…her grandfather and I spoiled her,” the granny said just as Shania's grandfather walked in from the front door carrying a shopping bag.
“My boy, it's late. I couldn't find the finest wine…but I'm certain this will do,” the man said with chuckle and Christian was already on his feet smiling. He was surprised at how welcoming Shania's grandparents were.
“Old man, why did you go through so much trouble, huh,” Christian chuckled and took the wine bottle. He scanned it and smiled, knowing it had been a while since he had such a kind of wine.
“No drinking this late at night,” the granny said with a frown, earning a glare from her husband. Christian smiled helplessly seeing how the two old people were behaving,
“Ha! Come on honey, let me teach the boy a few things about fine wine,” the old man tried to drape his arm over the granny's shoulder, but she shrugged him off.
“Shameless man…your granddaughter is in a bad mood…we need to cheer her up,”
Christian had to say, Shania's grandparents were nice people. He found Shania, but he was told she needed some time alone. As much as he was anxious to see Shania. He didn't rush, but did as told. After a while of drinking with the old man and talking about random things. Christian found his way to Shania's room. By now he knew she must have quarreled with Madeline.
“May I come in?” Christian asked once, he knocked lightly because he found Shania's bedroom door open. Shania, who had been sitting by the window, shifted a little but didn't dare look back.
“Princess room…how cute,” Christian commented in between chuckles as he glanced around the room and saw how Shania's room was decorated in all pink and dolls.
“What are you doing here?” The woman asked him coldly, Christian was too carried away admiring the room when he walked to Shania.
“You left rushing, so I followed you,” he said with a lazy stretch and stood beside Shania. She was looking out the window. The sky was dark, with a few stars twinkling brightly.
“Just go already,” Shania whispered nonchalantly. Christian glanced down at her and carefully took a seat beside her.
“Crying?” He muttered, seeing the tissues stuck on the floor in a corner. Shania didn't reply but shrugged and held the pillow in her lap even tighter. “It's not a crime to cry…it's good for the eyes" Christian chuckled only for Shania to look at him with a glare.
“Are you done, or you are trying to be funny,” she lashed out bitterly, not sure why Christian followed her and how he found where she was.
“It's a lovely place here… cozy and warm… I tasted your granny's chocolate cookies,” Christian remarked lazily, recalling how he enjoyed having the homemade cookies from Shania's grandma.
“I'm sure you didn't come here to finish our cookies,” saying that disdainfully, Shania rose to her feet and tossed the pillow away. She left the window and walked back to her bed. Christian smirked and rose to his feet.
“So, where am I going to sleep?” He asked as he scanned the room until his eyes fell on Shania making her bed. It was a single bed but looked fluffy with all the many pillows and furry blankets.
“Leave,” she simply said and got in bed. It was the best Christian went back.
“I came to get you…”
“I'm not coming back to that house ever…you better leave and forget I exist,” she said, cutting him off. Christian was perplexed by her outburst. Her eyes were cold and distant.
“What happened?” It was hard to understand a normal Shania, and an angry Shania was even harder to understand.
“I said I'd stick with you, no matter what…baby I'll keep my promise," Christian muttered more seriously as he sat down on the bed. It was small, but Shania shifted away from him, obviously avoiding him.
“You are my life and addiction…” He cupped her face and forced her to look at him. Her eyes showed how much she had been crying. They were puffy and red. He hated seeing her sad. He wondered what she and Madeline fought about.
“This relationship is over…why don't you go and marry Ashley…it will be good for both of us,” Shania said, pushing Christian away and off her bed so unexpectedly that he nearly fell.
“What do you mean, huh…this…”
“I hate you, Christian… I don't like you, you are a playboy and someone I wouldn't want in my life,” Shania remarked disdainfully as her sharp eyes were fixed on a shocked Christian. She rose from the bed and came face to face with him.
“You think I like you…just because I got naked for you…you know what…you are a disgusting man… I hate you!” Shania made a low yell, shocking Christian even more. The hatred in her eyes was like a blade piercing through his heart. He shook his head, denying her vile words. And attempted to hold her hands.
“D-don't…don't say that… I know that…”
“I'm done here, I don't want you…just leave, okay…let me be!” Shania shouted, this time she grabbed his hand and started dragging him toward the door. Before Christian would stop her. She threw him out of her room.
“From now on, I want you…as far from me as possible,” saying that, she slammed the door with a loud bang that Christian was a little startled. He tried knocking and shouting Shania's name. But there was no reply, so she locked the door.
“Sweetheart, open up…let's talk,” he whispered as he leaned against the door. He felt empty inside. He didn't know what was happening. However, back in Shania's room, she had collapsed on the floor and was leaning against the door. Tears had flooded her face, but she didn't dare let the sobs out. Her heart was tightening. She couldn't take it. All she wanted was to be happy, but that was not going to happen. She was bound to be alone, her father left her. And now she had to stay away from Christian for good.
