Chapter 30 Are you Chris' wife?
"Your sister can't attend your wedding because she had to go back to the company," Alfonso informed Nica after she had been styled.
"The company is more important than my special day?" Nica lifted up her eyebrow whilst looking at her stepmother. She looks like she is going to a funeral.
"Don't act like you're sad, we know here that your happiness could reach heaven because your sister isn't here." Margaret sniggered at Nica.
"Margaret, please, let's not ruin this day. Put aside your grudge against each other even just for today!" Luisa said to her friend before she approached Nica to help her with her wedding gown.
"I'm not a faker like that girl to pretend that everything's okay!" Margaret replied angrily and glared at Nica.
"It's not your son who's aggrieved here so everything's all right for you!" Margaret confronted Luisa. "My poor daughter, what honor will she present to her future husband when she meets him?" Margaret's look was pitiful this time.
"Marga, we've talked earlier." Alfonso rebuked his wife.
Margaret turned her back on them without a word and went in the car first.
Luisa smiled at Nica and led her out of the house, along with her father. Even though her wedding dress is simple, she still looks elegant because it suits her. The smile spread across her face when she saw her old friend's happy face in Nica's.
Chris could not compare the happiness he felt to anything when he saw his bride. His nervousness lessened, he was afraid that she might have run away. He felt disappointed that Janice could not come, but the happiness reigns.
"Take care of my daughter and I'm hoping that you'll keep your promise that you'll never hurt her. That you love her with all your heart and you'll do everything to keep her by your side." Alfonso reminded his son-in-law. He knows that the young lady still holds resentment for him and he could not complain about that. Anyhow, he is delighted that the young man changed how he views his daughter.
"Thank you and you can hope for it!"
Nica simply gave a small smile at Chris and her father. She does not want to celebrate and feel joyous because she might get hurt again. Her heart and mind have missing pieces until now.
Nica and Chrismith's wedding ceremony finished in a beautiful garden. Everyone was happy, except for Margaret.
After the wedding, everyone became busy and the newlyweds did not have time to spend together because their flight back to the Philippines is tonight.
"YOU startled me, Ma'am!" Bheng grasped her chest when she saw Janice the moment she entered Nica's office.
"Where are the other papers?" Janice continued to search in Nica's drawers. She disregarded the possibility of someone reporting to Nica what she is doing in her office.
Bheng lifted up an eyebrow whilst watching the lady. She was really surprised to see her because she thought she was still in America.
"What are you searching for, Ma'am?" Bheng asked her and rummaged in her boss' drawer as well.
Janice stopped what she was doing and questioned Bheng. "What are you doing?"
"Finding what you are looking for?" Bheng pressed her lips together and smiled at the young lady.
"Stupid! Stay away and go near the door to guard and make sure that nobody else sees what I'm doing here!"
Bheng made a fist and raised it behind the young lady. If she does not need to tolerate her, she would have given her words even dogs could not eat.
"Ma'am, if something misses there, I might be the one to receive the blame."
Janice glared at her sister's secretary in irritation. She needs to find Nica's new design to copy it. Even if she did not succeed in stealing Chris, she will get back at her with something else. "Shut up if you don't want to be framed and lose your job!"
Bheng ignored her temper. "You won't find any important thing there because I hid it all."
Janice calmed herself and smiled at Bheng. "Why didn't you tell it sooner?"
"Because you didn't ask about what you need to get," Bheng said, acting innocent.
Janice tidied the papers in her sister's drawer first before she closed it. "I need the new design my sister made."
"Oh, that utterly beautiful dress Ma'am Nica drew?"
Janice controlled herself so she would not slap her because it was on her face that she was amazed at her sister.
"It was so pretty and nothing can be compared to it. But Ma'am Nica said that no one should see it except for the two of us."
"May I remind you who hired you in this work?" Janice lifted up her left eyebrow and looked at Bheng expectantly.
"You?" Bheng answered reluctantly even though that was not the truth. "But she's the one giving me a salary." Bheng took it back, referring to Nica.
"Are you forgetting that I'm also paying you?"
"Right, right, right," Bheng muttered while twitching her lips.
"I can double my payment to you, so don't worry." Janice bribed her.
"But what if she finds out and fires me?" Bheng asked, she seemed anxious.
"If you're worrying about work, then don't worry anymore because I can give you a different position like Rose."
Bheng's eyes widened, "wow!"
Janice smirked when she saw in Bheng's eyes the amazement on her abilities. "She's just like Rose!" she mumbled while smirking.
Bheng gave everything Janice wanted to have whilst talking to her.
"You'll take it back here immediately, right, Ma'am?" Bheng asked Janice like she was making sure of it.
"Yes, and she shouldn't know that I saw and touched this, understand?"
Bheng quickly nodded her head as her lips were pressed together. When the lady turned her back on her, the corner of her lip twitched and she smiled. She looks like she hit a jackpot as she watches Janice walk away.
"WHERE do you want to stay when we get back to the Philippines?" Chris asked the young lady whilst helping her in putting their stuff in a bag. If he will decide, he wants to stay there more for a few days.
"I don't want to leave Mommy's house."
Chris stopped what he was doing and stared at Nica. She was busy folding the clothes, but there were hints of sadness on her face. Living in his parents' house when he becomes married was not in his mind. He has his own condominium and he can buy a house too if he wants. But it seems like his rules in life will change because of the young lady.
Nica stopped what she was doing and looked at Chris when she felt that he was staring at her. "I promised Mommy that I will take care of her garden and I'll never leave the house." She explained in sadness to the young man, who is her husband now.
"But we should have our own home when we have a child. "Chris could not verbalize the words because he knows the young lady thinks that they are only married in the paper. He chose to stay quiet and let the young lady with her decision.
"I won't force you if you don't want to live in our house." Nica smiled with sadness.
"I'll be where you are." Chris quickly replied to the young lady.
"Thank you!" the young lady's voice suddenly became cheerful. She had a hope of being happy in their house because of Chris.
Chrismith, Nica, and her parents go back to the Philippines together.
"Welcome home!" Janice greeted her parents and the newlyweds happily.
Nica sensed that something bad will come because of the delight on her sister's face even though she knew that Chris and she will stay together in one room.
"From now on, treat this place as your home as well, hijo." Margaret looked happy as she warmly welcomed the young man in their home.
"Thank you, Auntie!" Chris bent his head slightly as a sign of gratitude.
"Gracious, how many times I have to tell you to just call me Mom?" Margaret said to the young man.
"You're not my mother, so it's just right for him to call you Aunt." Nica talked back to her stepmother.
"Nica!" Alfonso rebuked his daughter because she is being harsh with his wife again.
"Yes, it's okay for you to call my mother ‘Mom’ too." Janice agreed with her mother softly and ignored the presence of her sister.
"Are you Chris' wife?" Nica sniggered at Janice.
Janice glared at her half-sister before she looked at the young man again to convince him with what her mother wants.
"Ahm, we're going to our room now so Nica can take a rest." Chris excused themselves to everyone to help his wife get rid of trouble. She slapped his hand when he tried to lead her.
"Margaret, you go too, and take a rest," Alfonso ordered his wife. He signaled Janice to help her mother carry the things she bought in America.
"Did you do what needs to be done?" Margaret asked Janice when the two of them were left alone.
"Don't you have trust in me?" Janice smirked at her mother.
"Just make sure you won't fail in this thing. This is your only chance to ruin that bitch!"
Janice smiled and hugged her mother. She knows she will do everything for her.
"Are you okay?" Chris asked her when she stayed quiet. She looked around in her room. It was quite big and he likes its design. The color green paint makes the room lively. She seems to really love her mother's garden and he adores her more.
"Yes, I just feel sad when I think I'll leave this house because I'll have my own family."
"Don't think about that yet, I'm just here and I'll wait until you're ready." He pulled her close to him and hugged her tight. He wants to make her feel his entire love for her.
Because of their tiredness from their wedding and flight, they were contented in sleeping while hugging each other. Chris gently kissed her in the head before he closed his eyes.
