Chapter 29 Passionate Kiss
CHRISMITH carefully opened the door of the room and entered his head into spot Nica. "Babe?" he called her.
It may seem gay, but for the first time, he is scared of a lady. Even toward his mother, not once have he felt afraid because he never did a big mistake anyway.
"Go inside and don't just peek in there."
"Shit!" Chris exclaimed when his father suddenly spoke behind him.
"You look like a thief just now." Gregory laughed at his son's shocked face.
"Dad! You know I'm looking for the perfect timing, do you want me to have a lump on my wedding day?" Chris complained to his father.
"That's what you get for being careless. You nearly got forced into someone because you're such a sleepyhead!"
Chris clacked before replying, "I don't know how I was in Janice's room. Believe me or not, Dad, I don't remember whatever happened last night after I separated with Nica."
"Let's investigate that matter later. Face your wife-to-be first to make sure she comes to your wedding tomorrow."
Chris nodded to his father with a smile. With his tone of voice, he knew he has full support in him and Nica. The young lady could not be seen in the room, but he could hear the sounds of water in the bathroom. He sat on the bed and cupped his face with both palms while resting his elbows on both thighs.
Even though she had expected that the young man would come in, Nica still got surprised when she saw him. When he tilted his head up, she continued walking toward the dresser. She ignored him even though she could feel him watching her movements.
"Wish I could be a towel," Chris said to himself as he watches the young lady rub the towel on her medium-length hair. She just continued to ignore him as she was busy drying her hair. He could inhale her sweet scent. He finds her sexy with her oversized t-shirt and denim shorts.
"Why are you still here?" she could not bear to not talk with the young man.
"I'm sorry!"
Nica lifted up an eyebrow when he made an exaggerated sad face.
"I'm sorry because I fell asleep last night and—"
"She put a drug in our drink." Nica cut him off.
"That's what I suspect, too," Chris said. If ever Nica's trust in him completely got destroyed, she would certainly have a grudge against Janice too.
"You don't know my sister as much as you thought you do, so be careful with her if you want us to stay together until the contract is up."
The happiness Chris was feeling lessened when the young lady mentioned the contract. It had left his mind and he wanted to end it, but he could not verbalize that. He worries that it would be a reason for the young lady to refuse their wedding.
"To tell the truth, I was surprised by what you did this morning. I was almost deafened by the loudness of my heartbeat as I think you believe I liked what happened to us last night if there was really anything." Chris confessed.
"Of course I'd stand up for myself, I'm done with letting those two play the role of the ‘pitiful protagonist’."
Chris stared at the young lady whilst listening to her. He could feel her deep and great resentment towards her own family. He felt the urge to embrace her and make her feel that she is not alone anymore and that someone loves her. But he did not want to do that because he knows she does not like to be pitied. "I'm just here and I'm ready to support you from now on. You can treat me as your true friend for now."
A small smile formed on Nica's lips and the stare she gave him is enough as a way of gratitude. She hates dramas and she is thankful that the young man understands that.
"Until you learn to love me as I do to you," Chrismith added sincerely.
Her lips parted and she met with the young man's meaningful gaze. The normal heartbeat of her heart quickened due to the intensity she could see in his eyes. She did not know what to answer to him. He spoke so openly about his true feelings for her. Before he just likes her, now it leveled up to love. She admits to herself that she is also starting to develop a feeling for him. However, a part of her heart and mind were still confused.
"I know it's hard for you to believe that I quickly learned to love you. But just let me make you feel and teach your heart to reciprocate my feelings." He continued whilst not taking his eyes off of her eyes.
"Thank you!" The young lady replied with teary eyes and hugged Chris. "Just give me a little time to make myself complete."
Chris smiled and nodded his head, then he hugged her back strongly. They remained to hug each other for a few minutes before he broke free and held Nica on both of her shoulders.
"So... see you tomorrow?" He slightly bent his head down to align their heights.
"Don't accept guests or come out anymore." She replied to the young man with seriousness. He would stay in a hotel tonight and prepare things for tomorrow there. Even though they are abroad, their parents still want to follow Filipino's wedding culture.
"Don't worry, I won't let our wedding be canceled. Besides, Dad will come with me there. Mom is here to assist you and handle everything tomorrow for you."
Nica nodded her head and smiled at the young man. She could not help but stare at the movements of his lips and she recalled something again.
"I will call you later. I know your head still hurts, so sleep after you drink medicine, all right?" he reminded her softly, but she seemed dazed and she did not hear him. When he noticed where her eyes are focused on, he smiled. Without a second thought, he let himself do what he wants.
Nica's deep thoughts were cut off when she felt the young man's warm lips on her mouth. The kiss he gave her was tender. But she suddenly felt scared that what happened last night might repeat itself. She knew that he was about to let go of her lips and thus, she stopped it.
Chris could not stop a low moan from escaping his lips when the young lady became aggressive in responding to his kiss. He became aggressive as well and he almost forgot what he promised to the young lady's father.
Their eyes were both partly close when their lips parted.
"I love you!" He said in a husky voice before kissing her lips again torridly.
"I need to leave now," Chris said whilst gasping for breath, he was forced to stop kissing her. It was as if he was drunk and addicted to her lips. One of his hands involuntarily caress her hip and pulled her closer to his body. He leaned her against the wall and buried his own face in the side of her neck to calm himself.
Even Nica gasped for breath and admitted to herself that she had become weak against the temptation of the young man. She was grateful when her father knocked on the door.
Chris fixed the messy hair of the young lady before he distanced himself from her. "Please take care of yourself for me." He gently touched her reddened cheek as she could not meet his stare.
Nica nodded, her lips pressed against one another. She is embarrassed because she was the one who was aggressive.
"Chrismith, your Dad's waiting downstairs," Alfonso called the young man again. When the door opened, he looked at the two.
"I waited for Nica to finish bathing first so I could say goodbye to her before I leave." He immediately explained to Nica's father. He scratched his nape even though it was not itching.
Alfonso's eyes switched to his daughter, who was busy rubbing the towel on her wet hair.
"I want to rest now." Nica did not care about her father's stare. She simply waved at Chris when he bid goodbye to her.
Alfonso did not insist on talking with her. When she is acting like that, he could not have a proper talk with her. It was enough for him that she and Chris have made up. He thought of speaking to his other daughter instead, he knew she is also upset with him.
Janice felt that someone entered her room, but her eyes remained closed. She does not have the energy to talk to anyone.
"Tell the truth, did something really happened between Chrismith and you last night?" Alfonso asked his daughter like he was interrogating her.
Janice opened her eyes even though she did not want to, and met her father's gaze sadly. "If I say yes, will you believe me?"
Alfonso sighed and slowly sat on the bed. He reached for her head and caressed it in sadness. "Please don't think that I don't love you because I didn't favor you and your mom."
"Enough, Dad! I know our company and family's reputation is far more important to you than my feelings and the shame I'll have in the near future." Her voice was low, but you could hear the scream of anger in it.
Alfonso let out a deep sigh again before he stood up. "Let's talk some other day when your mind has become clear."
Janice violently laid down on the bed and turned her back on her father. She went to the bathroom and took out her anger there. She kicked the trash can that was just there in a corner several times. Her psyche is rebelling against her parents who value the reputation of the company and her half-sister more.
