Chapter Forty-Five
Chapter Forty-Five
This was the first time Bella found herself in such a situation, unsure of who sent these things to her. Flowers and a gift box? Without much thought, Bella understood the significance of the gift, which only added to her confusion. "It's really perplexing."
Bella picked up the card and opened it, feeling normal until she read its contents, which immediately made her uncomfortable and flushed with anger.
"Is he really crazy?" Bella muttered angrily, but she dared not speak loudly.
Looking at the bouquet in her hand, Bella wanted to throw it away, but hesitated, knowing that discarding such a large bouquet would surely attract attention. After some thought, Bella went to the security office.
"Hello, it seems someone sent this to me by mistake. I'm not sure who sent it, so you can keep it. If nobody claims it, just dispose of it for me," Bella said with a smile, not showing any hint that could confuse the security guard who took it. With that, Bella quickly stashed the exquisitely wrapped gift box, which she hadn't had a chance to open, into her documents folder and returned to her office.
Seeing Bella return, Lauriel grinned mischievously. "Is that yours? I knew it. Who gave it to you? You don't have to say his name, but is he handsome? Is he wealthy?"
Before Lauriel could notice, Bella swiftly hid the gift box in her drawer and put on a casual demeanor. She shrugged and said, "Lauriel, you got me excited for nothing. I just went down to confirm, but it's not mine. It seems there was a mix-up. I left it with the security office."
"Really? I thought someone was giving you gifts. You must be disappointed. No worries, but I'm curious to see who in the company will end up with it." Lauriel, unaware of the situation, still comforted Bella, feeling a bit guilty for the mistake.
Bella quickly defused Lauriel's curiosity. Lauriel was a very kind and straightforward colleague, but one thing about her that needed to be controlled was her tendency to talk a lot and possibly share other people's stories. That's why Bella didn't share anything with Lauriel except work matters.
During work hours, Bella couldn't focus. She kept staring at the screen, but her mind wandered everywhere. She couldn't help but glance at her drawer, where the man's gift box was.
Just then, Bella received a message. Without looking at the phone number or the sender's name, just reading the message content, Bella knew who it was.
[Are you still mad at me? Don't be mad anymore. Do you like the gift I sent you? I think this is the first time I've given you a gift, right? Although our relationship doesn't require such gifts, I probably made you uncomfortable last night, so I feel sorry.]
Reading the messages, Bella sighed. She didn't blame Levi or feel annoyed with him, but she found his behavior last night very strange and inappropriate. Knowing their relationship, he shouldn't interfere so deeply between her and Max.
Perhaps Levi didn't get an answer from Bella; he added, [If you don't accept it, I will continue to send gifts. I don't believe Max won't notice.]
The second message made Bella feel angry, wanting to punch the computer screen hard. She couldn't believe Levi would threaten to make Max notice if she didn't respond. He was indeed cunning.
Bella replied with a simple message, "I didn't notice that. Please don't send those things here anymore."
Then Bella turned off her phone so he couldn't message her again, trying to focus on work and forget that there was a gift waiting for her in her drawer.
Intentionally avoiding going home early, Bella worked overtime at the company. When there was no one else in the office, Bella stood up to tidy up and went to the basement to get her car ready to go home, only to see Max standing not far away. Bella quickly hid behind a pillar, not understanding why she had to hide, but she really didn't want to meet Max at all.
As Bella hesitated whether to step out or not, a familiar voice sounded, making Bella stiffen and retract her foot.
"Max, are you waiting for me here?" Pearl approached cheerfully, her sweet voice making others unable to help but feel affectionate.
Max raised his eyebrows because he thought Pearl had gone home first, after all, he had made her angry in the morning. “I thought you had already left, why are you still at the company?”
Pearl was just the director's secretary, so her main job was to track meeting schedules, and business trips, and handle contract documents for Max to sign. Overall, there wasn't much overtime work required, but currently, most of the employees in the company had already left, and the parking garage was nearly empty, with only a few cars left, including Bella's and Max's.
Pearl knew Max was waiting for Bella, as Bella's car was still there, indicating she hadn't left the office yet. Recently, Bella had been working overtime and going home late, which was quite normal. Pearl suppressed her discomfort and jealousy, still smiling as she approached Max, leaning on his arm.
"I stayed because I was waiting for you, Max. Why do you seem surprised to see me here?" Pearl hugged Max's arm, her voice sweet and slightly naive. Her rounded chest pressed against his arm, visible even from a glance downwards. What man could resist the charming allure of a woman like Pearl?
But lately, Max hadn't been very interested in Pearl, so no matter how sweet she acted, it didn't make him happy. He pulled Pearl's hand away from his arm and said, "Don't do that, Pearl. We're still at the company, what if someone sees us?"
Pearl pursed her lips lightly but didn't let go of Max's hand. They had made love many times in the car in this company parking garage. Most of the time, it was initiated by Max's passion and desire for her. They had experienced so many moments of passion together, yet now Max seemed polite and strict, making Pearl want to laugh.
"No one will see us. Look, most of the employees have already left. You afraid Bella will see us? Don't worry, she hasn't finished her work yet. This morning, I didn't blame you for making me angry. Now, you should comfort me," Pearl said as she hugged Max. Her soft, rounded chest pressed against his firm chest, and her long legs slid between him, gently rubbing against him.
This stimulation in such a situation only made Max more interested and excited. He didn't say a word but pulled Pearl into the back seat of the car, quickly unzipping his pants and pressing Pearl's head between his legs.
"Suck." Max's body quickly heated up, and relaxed, his hand still gripping Pearl's hair tightly. The scent of Pearl's perfume made Max crave more.
Pearl seemed to understand Max too well. Even though Max had intentionally ignored her before, as long as she showed a little humility and a little flattery, she could subdue Max. This method had never failed and only made Max love and indulge her more.
Pearl smirked triumphantly, brushing a few strands of hair back and taking the warm, hard object into her mouth. The distinctive musky scent and masculine fragrance seemed to dull Pearl's mind, causing her body to unconsciously respond.
The parking garage was deserted, and very quiet, so neither of them worried about being discovered. Even if someone were in the parking garage, they wouldn't notice what they were doing. The skillfulness and calmness of both Max and Pearl indicated that this was not the first time they had done something like this.
The sound in the car was initially very faint, so faint that even someone standing right next to the car wouldn't notice, but then the muffled sound in the car began to grow louder.
Bella stood not far away, only now stepping out to look at Max's car. The car was shaking violently, clearly showing her husband and her best friend engaging in something shameful inside. If Bella wasn't mistaken, this was the second time she witnessed the betrayal of her husband and her best friend right in front of her. But unlike the first time, Bella was not shocked and devastated; instead, she felt numb and indifferent, her whole body cold and devoid of any feeling towards the once horrifying situation.
"So it's not as terrifying and unacceptable as I thought," Bella muttered, feeling utterly powerless, her legs as heavy as lead. She whispered, her mood falling into an icy abyss, not a single tear shed, but her body felt cold and heavy beyond measure.
Bella didn't know she had returned to her office at this moment, finding it empty. She turned on the light and sat blankly at her desk, not knowing what to do.
Just now, Bella wanted to rush in and confront and scold the two of them, but after she didn't want to do that. She didn't even understand what she really wanted anymore.
At a time when her emotions were plummeting and she didn't know what to do, the two of them were still in the parking garage, so she didn't want to go down there anymore. Suddenly, the phone rang, breaking through Bella's muddled thoughts.
