Chapter Forty-Seven
Chapter Forty-Seven
"It's like you're talking about yourself. Indeed, Max betrayed you and your marriage, but aren't you also having an affair?" Levi spoke bluntly, disliking Bella's apparent inclination to forgive Max.
Bella remained unruffled by Levi's frank revelations. Instead, she looked at him and chuckled, "Exactly, I acknowledge my actions were despicable and repulsive. Despite knowing that Max was unfaithful first, I too engaged in infidelity while our marriage was still ongoing."
Levi smirked, "So, you feel guilty and remorseful towards your husband? I always knew you were kind, but I didn't expect this level of kindness. It's quite ironic."
"No, I don't feel guilty or remorseful towards him; I'm merely curious," Bella clarified.
Frowning slightly, Levi found Bella's speech ambiguous and often veiled, making it hard for him to discern her true intentions. However, it also added to her mysterious allure, leaving him curious about her thoughts. "Infidelity is infidelity, what are you curious about?"
"Aren't you curious? When we had this relationship... I always felt uneasy and worried whenever I saw you, especially in the presence of my husband. I was anxious every moment, thinking about what I would do if Max found out about us," Bella explained.
Fear of discovery, fear of judgment and ostracization, fear of tarnishing one's own reputation, fear of losing relationships... there are so many fears, yet none seem to outweigh the temptation of infidelity.
Levi neither replied nor added anything further, merely listening intently to Bella's revelations. She laid bare all that she wished to express, which she never had the chance to articulate when sober.
Bella, dressed in office attire—a white blouse paired with a pencil skirt—emanated an air of elegance and seriousness, starkly contrasting with the surroundings. Yet, her attire, compared to the revealing dresses worn by other girls, rendered her even more attractive. Blushing from the alcohol, her body grew warm, prompting her to unbutton her blouse slightly for comfort.
Bella sat comfortably and naturally, her legs crossed to create a seductive curve, her long legs and accentuated waist. She no longer paid attention to the noise on the other side but only looked at the wine in the cup, her eyes became deep, dreamy and full of charm when drunk. Every movement of her hands is also softer and more sexy.
Just a random moment of wanting to go to the bar because she didn't want to go home, but Bella made herself stand out here just because of her office attire. Bella did not realize that the lustful eyes were constantly directed towards her. She did not know why, but she let her guard down.
“This lady seems to be having a sad time, do you want to confide in me?” A man walked up, he had been following Bella since she entered. At first, he didn't intend to approach her because she had a boyfriend, but after a while of observing, their relationship was not like that of a boyfriend and girlfriend.
Bella was suddenly approached by a strange man and immediately became more excited. "You guessed right, I am indeed troubled."
Levi furrowed his brow, stating, "Bella, you're drunk."
"Drunk? Of course, I am! Drinking is only considered drinking when you're drunk. If you're not drunk, then it's not considered drinking," Bella retorted jovially.
The man glanced at Levi before asking, "Is this man your boyfriend?"
Bella turned to Levi, unable to see any resemblance between him and a boyfriend. Hence, she shook her head, "No, he's not. I already have a husband. He's just someone keeping me company."
"If you don't mind, I can replace his role. What do you feel?" The man smirked, sensing an opportunity.
Hearing that, Bella immediately raised her eyebrows and tried to open her eyes to clearly see the appearance of the man who was making the proposal to her. His appearance is very beautiful, his face is also beautiful, his voice is also very warm and his friendly smile makes Bella unable to criticize him.
Levi sat next to her without saying anything or reacting, just quietly listening to Bella and the other man talking to each other. While he thought Bella would go with that strange man, he heard Bella speak and point at him.
"You are handsome too, but not as much as he is, I am the one who was chosen so I will choose who is more handsome." Bella compared the two men without any hesitation at the same time.
The unfamiliar man's smile froze slightly with a hint of awkwardness, while Levi burst into laughter.
"What are you laughing at?... Did I say something wrong?" Bella looked at the unfamiliar man who had approached her and left, feeling disappointed in her heart.
Levi kept laughing until tears came to his eyes, "You saying that makes him sad and leave."
Bella continued to drink wine, smiling slightly, "Do you really want me to go with him? Look, he doesn't seem like a decent guy. I said that to make him feel ashamed and leave on his own."
"So, aren't you intentionally praising me for being more handsome than that guy?" Levi laughed, looking at her. He thought she was drunk and talking nonsense, but he didn't expect her to be so coherent.
Bella leaned closer to Levi, looking at him intently and squinting, "You're not exactly a decent guy either, so don't think you're better than that guy. Do you really think I would go with him?"
Whether it was because of the wine or the conversation with Levi, Bella seemed to forget her sadness today completely.
Levi looked at Bella's alluring and seductive figure and just smirked, no wonder when she entered here, even though she wasn't dressed provocatively, she still attracted many looks.
"I thought so, do you remember the first time you met me? Even though it was the first time, with just a few words from me, you agreed to get into bed with me, remember? You were even very proactive, unlike your appearance at all." Levi recalled that moment, sitting in this position, drinking this kind of wine, but the difference was that Bella looked very lonely and miserable back then.
Only then did Levi notice that Bella's neck was empty. He frowned, "Have you seen the gift I gave you?"
"Not yet, and I don't want to see it." Bella replied bluntly without looking at him, she still kept the exquisite gift box in the drawer on her desk. She hadn't opened it yet because she wanted to return it to him.
Bella didn't want to mention this matter anymore because she felt his actions and words seemed like they were in a romantic relationship. She didn't want that, nor did she want to misunderstand his actions. If Levi didn't realize that his actions could be misunderstood by others, then she had to be alert to realize it instead of happily indulging in it.
Above all, Bella didn't have any special feelings for this man, but she had to admit one thing, that he brought her many strange and new feelings that she had never experienced through making love with him.
"Don't talk about that anymore. Tonight, I don't want to go home... can you help me book a room to rest?" Bella waved her hand to stop him from asking further, she drank a large sip of wine and then continued to order more.
Levi took a sip of wine and couldn't help but tease her, "Aren't you afraid your husband will worry?"
Bella laughed coldly at that, she intended to stand up but because she was drunk and off balance, she accidentally grabbed his shirt, causing the distance between the two to be close enough to hear each other's breaths. Whether it was because she was too drunk or not, Bella was not embarrassed at all, but even pulled Levi closer to her.
She leaned close to his ear and whispered, "My husband has my best friend to worry. And I will have my husband's friend to care for me." After finishing the sentence, she was a bit staggered so she accidentally touched her lips to his ear. It was just an unintentional action but it made Levi stiffen in that moment.
