The urge to protect her
Lindsay
The way he slept peacefully warmed my heart. Staring at him was something I couldn't get tired of. His full lashes, his angelic face, and his full lips were all so inviting. I couldn't resist the urge. I ran my finger on his lips, biting my lips as I felt the softness of his.
I wanted to take his lips in mine, but at the same time, I didn't want him to wake up. I just wanted to stay there and continue admiring such a fine work of perfection.
“How long are you going to do that?" he flung his eyes and my soul leaped out of my body.
I smacked him on the chest. “Don't do that" I scowled at him and he laughed. “How long have you been awake?"
“When I felt you move"
“Come on" I scoffed. “You can't be that observative"
“Unfortunately for you, I am. And why were you staring at me?"He asked and I rolled my eyes as I turned my face to the other side. He knew why I was, he just wanted me to say it.
“Lindsay" he called out and I looked at him once more, but he turned my face back to where it had been.
I panicked as he examined it. He was staring at the exact place I was bruised! There was a high chance of the foundation wearing off due to the vigorous sexual activity we partook in hours ago.
“What is this Lindsay?"
I froze. He had seen it. I had just a few seconds to come up with a very convincing lie.
I sat up and forced a nervous smile. He looked very serious. I could tell he was trying to keep his anger in check. He had that undying urge to protect me. I wanted to tell him it was Asher, but I was scared. Asher was a psycho and just too powerful. I didn't even want to think about what would happen if Shaun confronted him. That was if he forgave me for lying to him in the first place.
“I tripped on the stairs and I fell all the way" I spat out the first thing that came to my head.
“This doesn't look like...."He tried to speak, but I didn't let him finish.
“I know. That's what most people say. I don't know why the injury turned out this bad”
He sighed. It was obvious he wasn't buying it because his eyes held a lot of skepticism."Try and be careful next time” he said and I heaved a sigh of relief.
His eyes were killing me. It was almost impossible to lie when he kept those intense eyes transfixed on me.
“I'll be more careful" I smiled at him and leaned over to kiss him.“Now I have to go"
“No, I want you to stay over," he said. It was more like an order than a request.
“But I can't," I bit my bottom lip, preparing my answers to any questions he could probably ask.
“Why can't you?"
“Remember that kid I told you about? My sister's kid" I watched him nod. “I have to babysit her today"
“That's not a problem. You can bring her over and babysit her here"
“Don't you have work to go to tomorrow?"
“I am the boss. I choose when I go to work"
“Well, Mr. CEO. My work hours with you are over and I want to go home now, please. I'll be here tomorrow" I said and slipped out of my bed to get to the shower.
“Lindsay" he called out and I turned to look at him. “When you are done, I want to drop you off at your house"
I was certain that was an order because of how authoritative his voice sounded. I saw my life flash before my eyes. That was going to be a disaster. Or wait!
Did he figure something out? Had he placed the pieces together and figured out that the only possible reason for me to be so secretive about where I lived was that I was married? No, that didn't make any sense.
I didn't say anything. I just walked into the bathroom. There was nothing tangible I could have said at that moment that could change his mind. I sensed it was a trap, but I wasn't sure.
I spent almost an hour in the shower, praying to the heavens that I got past this. Asher was going to rip my head off if he saw Shaun's car. He wouldn't be Patient enough to even hear my side of the story.
After some time, I decided to take the bold step and leave the bathroom. I opened the door and the first thing I saw was Shaun standing outside the door, naked.
I swallowed hard as I tried to walk past him but he held me back. “Are you done?" He pulled me closer to himself and I felt my pulse quicken.
“Y... Yes, of course. Why wouldn't I be?"
“But I just got here," he said.
“If you want me to stay, I could" I wasn't thinking straight at that point. The distance between the two of us was driving me crazy. I wasn't even thinking about the time and most especially Asher. It was not such a good idea to show up home late. But I was about to do that because I couldn't resist Shaun.
“You know Lindsay. Seeing naked drives me crazy" he caressed my lips with his finger. “It makes me want to do things to you"
I was driven by the heat of the moment already. “Like what?"
"Like bend you over and fuck you until you forget your last name,” he said under his breath and I almost lost my mind.
This man treated me like a goddess. He was too good with words. I couldn't imagine what would happen if all I was doing backfired and he left me. My life would go back to the profound bleakness it used to be. I would feel empty once more. All I wanted was to feel loved, but it happened to be so complicated in my case
He slipped his hand around my waist and pressed me hard against his groin.
“ I can't get enough of you, Lindsay”
