I love my wife
ASHER'S POV
“The point of all this is to keep the police off our backs. Why are you doing the opposite!" I banged my fist on the table, staring at Dante who shivered in fear. I had that irresistible urge to gouge his eyes out of its socket and watch him scream in pain.
“B... Bu... But it's risky to do that boss" he stuttered as sweat dripped from his face.
“But nothing. Do what you are asked. Nothing more, nothing less. It can't be so hard shipping the drugs over"
“Yes boss" he bowed his head as he shuddered in fear. I couldn't blame him for that. I did have a gun in my hands, pointed directly at him and he knew I was going to rain down bullets on him if he continued pissing me off.
I raised my hand, gesturing to him to leave, but before he could get to the door, I stopped him.
“One more thing, when the sales are over, you hand me 30%," I said and watched as his eyebrows furrowed in confusion.
“What will I do with the remaining 70?"
A satisfied smile appeared on my face as I leaned on my seat. "You will give it to the church”
"What church? “
I shrugged. "Any church”
"Yes boss” He had a lot of questions, but he didn't dare ask them. No one had the right to question my decision.
"You see Dante” I began."I am a man of honor and I love doing what is right. I can't let the church suffer when I am existing” I leaned closer. "Or don't you think I am good enough to help the church?” I asked and he immediately shook his head.
"Of course boss, y... You are a good man”
I groaned in frustration. He was no fun at all. With the way he shook, I knew he was going to piss himself if I didn't let him go.
"Now get out of my sight” I dismissed him. “And also, get rid of that cologne you have on, it's revolting" I spat out in disgust as he nodded incessantly.
He closed the door to my office and shortly after, the door opened again. It was my secretary. She stood by the door while I stared at her in disgust. There was something about her that I found annoying. I couldn't tell if it was her highly-pitched voice or the way she slurs on her words. I wonder what I was thinking when I hired her.
“Sir, Rachael is out there, she is screaming all over the place. I tried to stop her but she is relentless. Should... “ Before she could finish speaking, someone forcefully opened the door and pushed her aside.
Speaking of the devil. Rachael walked towards my table with an evident glare on her face.
I stared at her in annoyance."Stacey leave us” I said to my secretary who had a hard time trying to adjust herself from the fall she had.
"Yes sir” I heard her say as she left.
"I am not allowed to see you now? What the fuck is wrong with you?“ She spoke as I scanned her body with my eyes. A glare appeared on my face when I saw the skirt she had on. It was a skirt I hated and she knew it.
"Why did you wear this?” I pointed at the skirt, not bothering to hide the anger on my face.
"Are you kidding me? You told your secretary not to let me in and now you are complaining about my skirt”
I exhaled sharply."I don't want you here again. Do you have a problem with that?“I asked and watched as her eyes softened.
"Asher, what's the problem? what did I do?” Her voice was calmer and I was glad she wasn't yelling anymore.
"I have a wife and I want to stop whatever I have going on with you”
She scoffed."You didn't think about your wife when you were ramming into my cunt yesterday?”
"You better savor that moment because that's the last”
“Asher, is this a joke?" She asked as she stared at me in puzzlement.
“You see Rachael, I love my wife and I won't do anything to hurt her and that includes sleeping with you. Now you have to leave before I get angry and call security on you “
"That's bullshit!” she glared at me." And fuck you! I shouldn't have placed any hopes on you in the first place” she turned to leave, swaying her hips as she walked to the door.
"I'll send you your pay today. You have done well” I said and she raised her middle finger at me without sparing me a glance.
"Fuck you, Asher”
LINDSAY
“Is this some trust issue you have or something else" I yelled the moment I came faced with Shaun. He had a phone placed in his ears, but when he saw me, he ended the call as he stared at me in puzzlement.
“Lindsay, are you alright?"
“Your guard showed up at my house" I stood in front of Shaun with my arm folded, glaring at him.
“Yeah I sent him"
“Why would you do something like that?"
“Is there a reason I shouldn't have?"
I groaned in frustration. “For Christ's sake, I didn't ask for that. I told you I am okay coming here by myself."
“And I don't want you going through the stress of taking a cab every day"
“So what, because you have the money, you think you can control my life? What did you expect from me, a thank you? Listen to me. My private life is off-bound. I don't want you anywhere near it. And I most definitely don't want your guard showing up at my house!” my hands were already shaking by the time I was done talking. I sniffed, wiping the tears that had accidentally slipped from my eyes. All my yelling was caused by fear. I wouldn't be here if Asher opened the door instead of me.
Shaun was stunned. He hadn't seen me that angry before. I couldn't blame his astonishment. I mean I was yelling at him and crying at the same time when the situation didn't need tears at all.
“Hey" Shaun got closer to me and pulled me closer to himself. “It's okay" he stroked my hair as I cried on his chest. “It's fine, Billy is not going to show up at your house again. You don't have to cry about it"
I raised my head to look at him. “I'm sorry, I didn't know what came over me. I shouldn't have gotten angry at you.." he didn't let me finish before placing my head back on his chest.
It was there I realized the man that held me in his arms was a rare gem. I just wished we met in a different situation entirely. Maybe we would have been married with kids. I immediately mentally face-palmed myself for thinking like that. That was highly unlikely.
“If you don't want me in your private life, then it's fine," he said and I heaved a sigh of relief. It's not that I didn't want him to pry. I just didn't want any extra drama.
I had finally succeeded in convincing Shaun that we weren't anything but sex partners and that was true. There was no point fantasizing about something that could never happen.
