The First Kiss
He pressed his lips on mine and kissed me softly. It wasn't anything like what they show in the movies or how they described in romance novels. I didn't hear any fireworks go off, or my heart didn't jump out of my rib cage and run away.
It was short, and it was sweet. His lips felt soft and warm, and he was a good kisser. I mean, I guess he was. I wouldn't know since I had no one else to compare it to.
He gazed into my eyes with those gorgeous green eyes, and I felt like I was going to melt. Why did he have to be so handsome?
"I am glad I got to be your first kiss, Jane Brown," he said and smiled.
"I totally sucked, didn't I?" I asked. I just had to know the truth.
"No, of course not. I love your lips," he said quietly.
"These?" I gasped and pointed at my lips. "You don't think they are way too big for my face? I've always felt awkward about them," I said sadly.
"Are you kidding? They are gorgeous!" Aaron exclaimed. My heart did a little flip. His reaction and comment seemed sincere. Maybe I can finally love this part of my face now.
"Thank you," I whispered. "I am glad you are my first kiss too. You are not at all like how I imagined you to be," I said.
Aaron looked sad all of a sudden. "I am trying to change. I don't like the way I was in high school," he remarked.
"We all make mistakes. What matters now is that you are a better person now," I said reassuringly.
"I want to kiss you again, Jane," Aaron said and looked at my lips with his lusty eyes.
I leaned over and pressed my lips on his. This night was turning out to be amazing.
I almost bit his lips as the Star Trek theme song started to play on my cellphone. Gosh, I really should've changed my ringtone. Aaron must think I am a nerd now.
I quickly picked up the phone and answered it.
"JANE! You need to come pick me up right now!" Liliana squealed on the other line.
"What? But why? Where is Jake?" I asked.
"That asshole left me on the side of the street! We had an argument, and he just told me to get out of the car, then he drove off!" Liliana whined.
I couldn't help but giggle at the hilarity of her situation. That's what she gets for being a complete bitch all the time. For once, I was grateful to Jake for not putting up with her shit.
"Are you laughing? How can you laugh when I am in this horrible situation?" Liliana cried.
"Okay, okay, just calm down. I'll ask Aaron to come to get you, so take a chill pill," I said.
"Hurry up! There's a creepy homeless guy across the street who is staring at me, so I am scared," she said frantically.
Ah...maybe the creepy homeless guy will take her away and make her the queen of his cardboard home. Then finally, I'll become the favorite daughter.
But that was just a pipe dream. I sighed and turned to Aaron and told him about the situation.
"About time you got here. What took you so long?" Liliana said as soon as we arrived.
"Um...excuse me, you are welcome for coming to your rescue," I waved my hands in frustration.
Liliana saw Aaron come up behind me and her entire demeanor changed. She changed from the evil stepsister mode to the googly-eyed Cinderella mode.
"Aaron! Oh my god, thank you sooo much for coming to get me," Liliana cried and threw herself in his arms.
Smooth bitch, real smooth.
Aaron just stood there awkwardly and tried to recover from her sudden attack. "There, there, we are here now," he said. "What happened?" he asked.
"Your brother, he is a massive jerk!" Liliana replied.
"Facts, but what exactly happened?" he asked again.
"Well, he was going to take me to dinner, so I picked the restaurant. He said it was too expensive and offered a cheaper alternative instead. So I told him to stop being stingy and take me to the one I like, but he won't budge. I finally agreed to go to his stupid restaurant, but I hated the food there because it was so greasy, you know?" she paused.
Aaron nodded and encouraged her to go on.
"I complained about the food, because of course, why wouldn't I? One thing led to another, and he got angry at me and called me a bitch, so I slapped him. He then told me to get out of the car and drove off. He just left me here all alone in the dark, Aaron!" she sobbed and hugged him again.
Bitch, get off my man, I thought to myself.
I was slightly shocked that Jake ditched her for such a small matter. For someone who claimed to be in love with her, he sure didn't care enough to dish out some money. I was secretly glad he didn't tolerate her gold-digging ways. Good for you, Jakey boy.
"Let's take you girls home," Aaron said, and we headed towards his car.
When we finally arrived home, I looked at Aaron and smiled. I wondered if he was getting tired of rescuing people. First me and Jake, now Liliana.
"Thank you for everything, Aaron. You are my hero," Liliana said sweetly.
"Oh, don't mention it," he said and turned back to me.
"I had a good time with you, Jane. We should do this again sometimes," he said and moved closer to me.
"Me too. Thank you for taking me out. Maybe next time, it'll be just the two of us," I said pointedly. I could feel Liliana fuming in the background.
Aaron didn't say anything and leaned over to kiss me goodbye. I grabbed his neck and deepened the kiss just to piss Liliana off.
I practically danced my way into the house. I was swimming in bliss.
"So, you aren't going to give up on Aaron, are you?" Liliana asked.
"Why would I do such a thing? Aaron is amazing," I said with stars in my eyes.
"How can you do this to me? You can tell how much I like him! How can you do this to your own sister?" she screeched.
Ugh, not this again.
"Just give up already. Aaron is into me. You saw how he kissed me," I said.
"Pfft...that looked like you were kissing our cousin," Liliana said.
"Or, you were just jelly," I countered.
"Or, you guys have sexual chemistry of two wooden pillars," she said.
"La la la la, I can't hear you. I am too busy planning my next date with Aaron, so bye," I went inside my room and slammed the door shut. She can complain all she wants, but she will not stop me from dating Aaron Morris, I promised myself in my head.
