You are Going Down Good Sir
"So Aaron and I are going to be in the team against your team," I said.
"Are you sure you want to do that? Because you are definitely going to lose against Jake Morris, the laser tag champion," Jake declared. "Scared yet?" he smirked.
"You are wrong! You are the one that should be scared, Morris. prepare to feel my wrath!" I cried and started to stretch my legs. The bad boy is going down tonight!
I may be plain, unpopular, and invisible among social circles, but I was invincible when it comes to video games and laser tag. So Jake is in for a treat.
The person in charge of the game divided the players into two teams. I purposely went against Jake's team because I promised him death.
"Are you sure you don't want to play with me instead of against me? I don't want to make you cry," he smirked.
Oh please...
"Pfft...just worry about saving your own buttocks, good sir," I dismissed him.
Jake stared at me with an amused look on his face. He probably expected me to be the shy little Jane I usually am, but I turn into a different person when I'm around the things I love.
"Don't worry, Jane, I got your back," Aaron had a serious expression on his face.
"Can we just get this thing started? You guys are so dramatic," Liliana rolled her eyes.
Pretty soon, the game began, and it was time to show him who was the boss.
I grabbed Aaron's hand and took cover.
"Here's what we are going to do, I'm going to hide behind the wall, and you are going to flash your abs at Liliana to distract her so I can sneak up on her and MURDER HER!" I declared.
"You are trying to use me as bait," Aaron looked hurt.
"There's no time for a sense of morality. We must not let them win!" I squealed.
Aaron laughed and proceeded to shoot at some other people.
Pretty soon, we were down to a few members. Liliana lost a while ago since she didn't like to play anyway. Jake was still alive somewhere. He wasn't joking when he said he was good at this.
"Ugh! He got me!" Aaron screamed then left the room.
It was between Jake and me now. I stayed hidden and looked around. Where was this sneaky bastard?
Then I saw him. I jumped up, but just as I was about to shoot him, the light turned off, and the room became pitch black.
Awe, come on! I almost had him.
"Attention, customers. We are experiencing a short power outage. Please stay where you are."
Someone announced on the intercom.
I took a few steps ahead, and suddenly a hand grabbed my wrist, startling me. Then, someone grabbed my waist and pulled me closer to him.
"Don't move around in the dark. You'll get hurt," Jake whispered. I got goosebumps as I felt his breath on my neck. He was way too close to me.
"Jake, stop breathing on my neck," I whispered.
"Sorry, I can hardly see anything," he whispered back but still held on to me. Warmth spread through my body from his hands on my waist.
"You can let go of me. I'm not going to escape," I chuckled nervously.
The light turned back on all of a sudden, and Jake let go of me. Aaron and Liliana walked in to look for us.
"Hey, are you guys okay?" Aaron asked.
"We are fine," I said.
"Except, Jane stepped on my toe. I think she broke it," Jake said.
"I did not! Stop spreading lies," I said dismissively.
"Let's get out of here. I'm taking you out to eat," Aaron said.
"Yes! Food, I like it," I declared.
"I'm hungry too," Liliana whined.
"Well, you guys go find your own food. Aaron and I are going somewhere to spend time together. Alone," I announced.
"That's right," Aaron smirked.
"But..." Liliana started to say something more, but Jake interrupted.
"Fine by me. Let's go, Liliana," he said and dragged Liliana away. He had a scowl on his face like he was angry about something. Maybe he was hoping to spend alone time with her, but she dragged him in here instead.
Aaron and I went to a restaurant near the laser tag place. I was so hungry I felt like I could die.
"Sorry about Jake and Liliana crashing our date, but we are finally alone," Aaron grinned. We just finished having dinner and now sitting in his car in the parking lot.
"Yeah, thank God. He wouldn't leave me alone ever since I bumped into him at school," I rolled my eyes.
"Maybe he has a crush on you?" Aaron looked thoughtful.
"Jake? Has a crush on ME? Hahahaha, you are so funny, Aaron!" I let out an exaggerated laugh at that ridiculous notion.
"It's not that crazy. When we were kids, he decapitated my favorite transformers action figure because he really wanted it, and I wouldn't give it to him," Aaron said.
"Oh great, so you are telling me he might decapitate me if he likes me. That's just lovely," I frowned.
Aaron laughed and leaned closer. "Enough about Jake, let's talk about us," he said quietly.
"U...us?" I asked. His intense eyes make me so nervous.
"What do you think about me? Do you like me?" he said and paused for my reaction.
Do I like Aaron? At first, I wasn't sure, but he is turning out to be a pretty decent guy. I really think I like him.
"Yes, I like you," I said.
"Good. Then, is it okay if I kiss you? I've been wanting to do it since I met you. I really like you, Jane," he said.
My first kiss. It was finally happening!
I nodded in agreement. Aaron smiled and leaned closer to my lips.
"WAIT!" I yelled. Aaron snapped his head back in confusion.
"I've never kissed anyone before, so what if I'm bad at it?" I said.
Aaron laughed. "Just leave it up to me," he said and proceeded to kiss me again, so I closed my eyes.
